  • Don't show us the link to the other map if it's private! You have one more dislike now!!!!!!!!

  • the end is really clever

  • These maps are really mega boring, just bent on solving puzzels, I like secret areas, and cameras. And realistic areas, box droppers, energy pellets,

  • You map is really good but too goddam tricky.

It would take a person a good while to figure out what to do.

  • sweet.

i think the metal needs a little more randomness though, constructive criticism.

  • @theyoungster2 Thank you very much. I love constructive criticism. Check my playlist for the Third Portal Custom Map. I know the link in the video doesn't work but I'd like to hear your feedback on the newest one too. :)

  • @BrandonC3 oh, and what model are you using for some of the door frames? in the main room and some other rooms the door frames look like they're sticking out. there should be two models for the door frames, the other one might look better.

  • THE COMPANION CUBE LIVES!!!!!

  • Very nice map :D I am making in hammer 1 week ;p i add my first map movie on youtube. you can watch this ;p you map is awesome!

  • Much better latest map but it's private.

  • you are a great map maker my friend, and I was wondering, willing to join my steam group, its about making maps for valve games, and maybe other games that allow map making, want to help us out?

  • How the hell are we to search for a map without knowing it's name retard?

  • @KeenanS11 Because I link directly to it in the video description, retard.

  • @BrandonC3 Hardly a direct link, It's only to the site.

  • i like how you threw in the story's plot at the end, making a room that GLaDOS modified so you "couldn't" get out.

    well played.

  • This is better than the first! Wow this looks better than the official levels!

  • Your latest video is private. Who's going to see it then?

  • if you want us ti see your latest map, you shouldn't make it a private vid!

  • seriously.

  • That was nice.

  • wooooow amazing

  • Are you still there?

  • Nice

  • awsome map and btw can you make you vid not prive?

  • You tell us to look at your latest map, but the video is private...

  • now that is what i call a qualify-able chamber!

  • Fantastic ending.

  • I haven't played your map yet, but from the video it seems very well made.

  • WOW NICE NICE VERY NICE

  • This was a really cool map. But it seemed almost like there was no original ideas in it to really piss people off. That is, until the end. For some reason, the way you took the companion cube and leaned it up against the door to keep it open was GENIUS. I can't believe that the original developers never usedit that way before. Awesome job. Just for that, 5/5. lol.

  • i agree to the last part o.O G-E-N-I-U-S

  • wow, awesome, looks creative. love the ending.

  • this map is amazing!

  • wow. very complicated. very creative ending. i love how you used glados in this one!

  • Dude this is Cass Chamber 1 i downloaded this like a year ago kudos man for making this ownage map. :D :*D

  • and now something just to make it more like portal: make a elevator that moves.

  • Much more complex than your first map, but much better.

    Some suggestions:

    - Make it easier on the player. Pretend that the player has just completed Portal, and most likely will use the same tactics and moves in the original Portal.

    - Still need to work on lighting. As I said, use observation rooms as a focal light source.

    - If you're going to make your maps more complex, spread the key components of your map out and warn the player of upcoming obstacles (use glass, speech (GLaDOS) etc.)

  • My brain Hurts

  • theres a fine line between advanced and plain confusing and im not so sure about this one

  • This map plays by the same rules as Braid does. If you're willing to take the challenge, after being informed it was going to be a challenge, then enjoy and don't whine. =P

  • Wow...And I thought I was the genuis for a second there...

  • that was awesome.

you played it so fast that i'm not really sure even what happened but it was still cool.

always make sure where you're supposed to go is obvious. the problem should be how to get there.

  • Lighting isn't exactly the best, but the map itself is excellent. Well done.

  • Thanks. I love constructive criticism. I'm definitely taken lighting into consideration for my next map.

  • Nice trick at the end! :D

  • that was epic

  • brandonc3 either I got an old outdated verson of this map or your link is wrong, but I just get an elevator not all the companion cubes, how is this? did anybody else get this ending?

  • that was billiant brill fantastic brilliant absolute bastardly good, i love your maps, i wish i was that good at map making, infact im gonna buy portal just to make maps for it now

  • you no that took you 3 and a half mins, youy no how long it will take me??? around half an hour figuring all those parts

    5/5

  • I <3 the companion sphere.

  • DUDE! this should have been a testchamber in the game!

  • loved everything about this map

  • I have two questions. Do I need both Source SDK and Source SDK Base to do what you're doing? Do Source SDK and Base cost anything?

  • u don't need both to make maps, ive never used sdk base, just sdk. in order to use sdk you must have at least one source game (portal, hl2, tf2, etc), and you can download it off of steam in the tools section for free.

  • Excellent. The end was absolutely brilliant! :D

  • Genius. 5/5 :D

  • very good

  • how do you make the poles for the platforms?

  • The poles are just cylenders. Making them func_brush entities allows you to tie them to an elevator so you can make them go up.

  • the cylanders can be made by selecting an option on oen of the 2 boxes on the middle right when creating a block

  • how do you make the acid? I know how to do everything i need(ball launchers and catchers, moving platforms, box droppers, doors, even incinerators) except for the acid.

  • nvm. but how do you make the poles for the platforms?

  • To make the acid, first make a pit in the ground where the acid is going to be. Make a box to fit in that pit, where everything on that box is textured Nodraw EXCEPT for the top. Texture that with water. To add the damage part, make a Trigger_hurt entity under the water, with the same width, lenght and height. You can also make a third trigger for destroying objects, where the trigger conditions would be:

    OnStartTouch

!activator (which referst to what triggered it)

    Kill

    In flags uncheck client

  • How do you do the end?I never figured out how to make it fade out. =(

Thats actually what i'm working on at the moment.

  • Nevermind! I found out!

  • how do you use custom maps

i put them in the maps folder in a seperate folder but it wont work

can you please tell me how to do thisbtw i dont want to make em just use em

  • alright. First you take the maps that came in your pack. if it's just Bsp and bns files, drop them in C:\\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\(yourusername)\Portal\Portal\Maps.

Then launch Portal and go to Bonus maps. Should be there.

If its in bmz format do the same thing, and drop it into the maps file, launch portal, go to bonus maps, and slick on Import Bmz. It should be there as a pack now.

  • lol loved it when all the androids said "ACTIVATED" lol great map

  • It comes with the game, because you can install it using Steam under the tools menu.

  • I'm gunna buy the game once I get MONEY!!! Haha, then I'm gunna make some maps. If you want, you can test them out for me and put them on Youtube!

(My computer sucks) Unless I get a new computer... Well again, love this map!

  • OMG! Dude! I love this map so much! You did an amazing job on this. There wasn't a lot of lighting in it, but the level looked good without it. You had some really cool techiniques. And the last one is brand new Sticking the cube in the door like that Wow... This makes me want to make maps really badly haha. But I don't have Portal, nor a good enough computer to run it. But today I'll try to see what I can do GREAT MAP!!! 5/5 Favorited!
  • Thanks, I appreciate the comment. Makes me want to make a new map now. haha =P

  • I wish I could make one. I dont even care if I can't play it. I just want to make one.

  • is it possible to "link" maps together so when you complete one you get sent to the next?

  • Yea theres a certain trigger you have to put in, I think. I forget what its called though..

  • Quick question if you make a map for say Half-Life 2 after you run the map in the hammer editor do you turn Half-Life 2 on and put a message in on it to load the map?

    Thank you for the help.

  • If you're making your map in Hammer, you just run the map out of hammer. If you're running someone elses map, you put the map in the maps folder for Portal, and then type:

    map [map name here]

  • is there software to view the map?

  • You just go and buy Portal and then you play it.

  • Wow! Great thinking! That part where you have to use the cube to block the door is ingenious! Truly spectacular.

  • lol...I was trying to do that with a loose camera through a portal the other night on chamber 23..didnt work though but got around it.

Excellent little twist at the end and a great map brandon!

  • Wow amazing map man, this is valves standard :)

  • make the ceiling higher in the part where youre jumping

  • I would, but this map is officially out of priority. I don't even have Portal or the editor installed anymore. Sorry.

  • why not

  • Because the entire source engine is unstable and for some reason no matter what I do, every single Source based game gives me an HL2.exe Stopped Working. Error.

  • Fucking amazing!

  • how do you make maps?!

  • You get the Source SDK with the orange box. Just don't expect it to be this amazingly easy, jump in jump out editor. You actually need to try.

  • i hav orangebox but what is SDK? can u teach me to make portal maps? message me to inbox thanks, and the map really was genius

  • If you go into Steam and go to the tools tab, you can download the Source SDK which gives you access to Hammer and all the stuff you need to make levels.

  • Thats really cool dude. Seems real hard tho if you don't know what you are doing - espechaly the last bit :P

  • My maps are designed to make sure people who love the idea of Portal, and want very difficult puzzles, have some maps to play.

There are more then enough easy maps, but people like me who enjoy challenges that will keep you baffled for at least an hour, will find my maps entertaining.

  • Yeah I see what you mean. I have completed Portal and many of the challenges but to be honest - they are not very hard.

I like this map and I may download! :D

  • That looks really cool, great job!

  • the best part was the leaning companion cube

    that was really well done

  • nice o.o'
