You're lucky the Jap escorts are so incompetent. Remaining at periscope depth at Ahead Flank will usually get you depth charged to eternity, but maybe these guys don't have hydrophones.

Tactical tip: when you pick up an escorted convoy in daylight, stay at extreme radar range, make a big end run around to put yourself ahead of the merchants, and carefully surprise attack them in darkness, submerged or on the surface . That's how it was done in real life.
