these are not just any elites these elites had to fight with the "AX" it was a mark of honor. and no these elites had no shield because they had the cloaking devices. so they would have taken one shot and died. this battle is likely what would have happened had those elites and the three spartans met. and the Sgt. was just smarter then the arbiter.

really elite fanboys... The Spartans are the best of the best, pretty much the SEALS of the halo universe. While the elites are not even the top forces for the Covenant. So the Spartans are better but are not even near as numerous
