Plus, he plays someone who has lost his memories and has a metal skeleton in Terminator, so that can't hurt.

While I may sound like everyone else, I'm gonna go for Jason Statham for a slightly different reason. In films like Crank, Statham plays an adrenaline addict, with a serious death wish. This gives him a ton of experience with the action scenes, while the majority of his acting involves a sort of growling feel, when he talks. (transporter series, for example) He just seems to have a lot of experience that would suit the role perfectly. (especially if they made wolverine bald.)

Wolverine is known for his speed, his offense and his aggression. Someone that I believe have these traits is Jason David Frank. Going way back to old school power rangers, Jason was the green Mighty Morphin Power Ranger. He's known for his heroic character as well as his aggression... considering that he's a martial artist. Jason's experience in stealthy martial arts as well as his buffness makes him a contender in my opinion.

Mickey Rourke's character in Sin City had the exact same big beefy physique as the comic book wolverine. Mickey has proven his wide range when acting, and he plays a damn good psycopath.
