a simple grenade in the center works better than wasting two grenades, just aim for the guy in red

i actually did that too my first time, i ended up getting only about one or two of the normal guys, and of course the red guy

my second playthrough, i just passed this part, and i tried all sorts of weapons, just reloading if i missed the majority.

the mine thrower alerts them all as soon as you shoot it, causing them all to scatter, you may be lucky to take down 4 or 5. any of the normal guns are useless at taking down all of them. unsure of your aim with a grenade? use the rocket launcher

I find the rifle a much better bug weapon. As long as you have a scope, you can try and look for their breath; of course, playing a second time with the thermal scope is, admitably, easier...

Red 9 is my fave gun. Fully upgraded, that baby equals the original shotgun without upgrades.
