I'm a big Carl Froch fan and have major respect for him - but he was always wrong in the way he demeaned Joe Calzaghe for years.
He is entitled to his opinion, but Bernard Hopkins definatley did NOT win more than 5 rounds against Joe Calzaghe, and for me Joe clearly won 7 rounds. I gave it 116-113 for Calzaghe.
Remember that Calzaghe magnificently beat 28 year old Mikkel Kessler by 5 or 6 brilliant rounds, Carl struggled badly for two thirds of his fight against Kessler.

Oh I'm certainly not saying that if Froch met Joe he would definatley lose, but Carl has grown as a boxer since Joe retired on 2008, and he fought more sensibly against Abraham and Johnson than he did against Kessler, where I felt Carl lacked defensive discipline - although it was a great fight to watch.
If Carl can box like he did against Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson then he can definatley win.
If Carl boxes like he did for the first 6 rounds against Jermain Taylor, the middle six rounds against Mikkel Kessler and the last 2 rounds against Andrew Dirrell, then he WILL lose against Ward.

I've watched the fight at least 5 times. After Joe got knocked down he went on to put a clown suit on Bhop the rest of the fight. He just did the JC way, quick punches, quicker footwork and the famous Calzaghe clown suit! He made a fool of Bernard for all to see. I'm a big Carl Froch fan and have major respect for him - but he was always wrong in the way he demeaned Joe Calzaghe for years.
He is entitled to his opinion, but Bernard Hopkins definatley did NOT win more than 5 rounds against Joe Calzaghe, and for me Joe clearly won 7 rounds. I gave it 116-113 for Calzaghe.
Remember that Calzaghe magnificently beat 28 year old Mikkel Kessler by 5 or 6 brilliant rounds, Carl struggled badly for two thirds of his fight against Kessler.

Oh I'm certainly not saying that if Froch met Joe he would definatley lose, but Carl has grown as a boxer since Joe retired on 2008, and he fought more sensibly against Abraham and Johnson than he did against Kessler, where I felt Carl lacked defensive discipline - although it was a great fight to watch.

If Carl boxes like he did for the first 6 rounds against Jermain Taylor, the middle six rounds against Mikkel Kessler and the last 2 rounds against Andrew Dirrell, then he WILL lose against Ward.
Carl was awful for those rounds mentioned, and I hope he goes back and watches those dreadful rounds to see his weaknesses and how not to do it.

Bute is for me a half mile out in front, but who other than Ward do you have ahead of him? I think Froch's frustration at not getting the recognition quick enough for where his talent had him headed meant he was churlish with the "main man", & that was bad, but understandable. Took Joe a long time to make it big on the world stage too;he'd have probably done the same

I've watched the fight at least 5 times. After Joe got knocked down he went on to put a clown suit on Bhop the rest of the fight. He just did the JC way, quick punches, quicker footwork and the famous Calzaghe clown suit! He made a fool of Bernard for all to see. I actualy do thin BHOP won BUT can see why the decision went to JC. I think many sports writers in the UK think the same (look at mcguigans face he clearly thinks so) but they have a habit of being very biased for home fighters and BHOP can be a bit of an ass.

He did it, theres no mistake about that, but he did it against some of the weakest opponents Ive seen a champion fight in my life. Cowardzaghe deserves to have shit talked about him. Man at least Froch wants to fight the best. Calzaghe's record is mostly consisted of victories over club fighters and men over 40. He didnt beat anyone good in their prime. Thats why ive got alot of respect for Froch. He wants to become the best in the world and will fight anyone to try and achieve that.
