I think everyone has to find the products that work for them and I like how you state that you don't use anything really special. Personally, I use dandruff shampoo with zinc, conditioners with soy, olive oil (rinse) vinegar (rinse) and softee indian hemp (after rinse and towel dry but before truly dry so that I can lock in the moisture, kind of the same logic I use in not drying my body off and just applying lotion after standing for a minute). Others w/ oily hair might not like this.
This video was very informative. I have fryed my hair, not only with dye but with flat ironing and blow drying. I am looking into getting it cut. I know I'll have to take a good 3 inches off and was wondering if you knew where I could find some hair styles to look through?? Also, once I get it cut what would be best to get it growing healthy and strong?
thanks so much for this video! I'm still paying for all the damage I did to my hair last october (dyed hair black and have been slowly lightening it back to blonde) and I'm trying to start all over again! I miss my super long hair so much!
lol, i go all natural on my hair, i don't even use shampoo. just milk, eggs, olive oil, acv, and that stuff. but thx for the tip in your previous vid about spreading the oil that really helped! :)
I use to have long thick hair untill I started a bad habit (not drug using or anything lol) But my hair started falling out alot and its just so damaged now. Ive stopped my bad habit a while ago and am starting to really take care of my hair, now Im gettting married in May 2010. I have long hair and dont want to cut it to start all over because I want it long for my wedding. What would you recommend I do? I guess I had only 1 question =) thnx And Love your vid's!
GEEZ.......probably a good 3 inches. My hair grows pretty fast. I dont know exactly how many inches in a month but, it does grow pretty fast. I know I can trim it a little just to get rid of some of the dead ends but... I just started using the bio silk "silk treatment" shampoo, conditioner and a silk serum. protects against heat and weather
In that case, I would say, go get 3 inches trimmed off. And do your best to take care of your hair until your wedding. Follow the steps I talk about in this video.
one thing i did to speed up the process of growing my hair was that i i would get my hair braided (cornrows) alot. like every two weeks. and i would get them tight (but not so tight) and i guess the tightness pulls at the root of the hair and it speeds it up.
i've been growing my hair for two years now without cutting it. my hair is curly and so right now its about to my waist. and i love my hair. =D
another great tip for girls with long hair is to braid your hair to the side (like a side ponytail). My hair doesn't get tangled at night anymore and I've had less fall out daily.
iris these tips are amazing, and they really do help and work; however brushing wet hair in the shower might stretch the hair past breaking point and it wont have as healthy a elasticity as it did before..lol i learned that one from experiance when all my hair broke. But your hair is amazing. Thank you so much for all the great tips : )
thank you iris for all the tips my hair grew so much these past months i had it as an angled bob now i have it a little bit under my shoulders =) yay!!!!! for me but also taking vitamins work to keep it healthy
Thanks for the tips! My hair is very short i cut it yesterday, for a fresh start on healthy hair, but the thing is that my hair gets really frizzy && dry plus...puffy TOO MUCH VOLUME! so i need tips on that plz comment me back i need help cuz i cut it for a fresh hair start && i want it to grow faster too
oh btw Iris, i used to do what Jackie did, brush my hair in the shower, it did grow, but it also fell a lot! so i dont recommend that...& i only flat iron my hair when i have to too...also i think that when u have color treated hair, it grows faster....at least that's how my hair has been growing faster :)
my hair is very long too & i use all the products you use & am also not faithful to a specific product, just what's on sale :) & well i think my hair is pretty healthy looking too :)
I used to have beautiful hair but now my hair frizzy brittle and extremely dry :( I don't know what I did differently. I have been growing it out (it reaches my knees now!) and using regular shampoo and conditioner. It gets tangled so easily, in just 2 days it forms a small mat. what should i do?
I do that with my perfume too, I also like to flip my head upside down, and spray a little on the nape of my neck and let it dry before flipping it back, also works well when my hair is a little damp, so I flip, spray, then run my fingers through my hair to give it some body while the perfume dries, the heat from your skin activates the perfume, but since its covered, your man needs to be close and you get a good smell of it whenever you turn your head!
I love this video too just like all the others, and I also like your smile and eye smile...and yeah I agree with everyone else...you should be a model.
That's really great advice! I have a question tho. I used to have gorgeous, THICK hair like you. Since I've had my baby (he's 9 months old) my hair has thinned out TREMENDOUSLY. Any help in that department girl? Thanks so much..you're beautiful!
iris i love your tutorials of course all the videos are great, would be nice that you make a tutorial showing the better hair cuts or hair do deppends the face shape or what would be better if were tall, short, fat, slim etc. tanx in advance & hope see more pin up hair style i love it
I found a great treatment for my hair, something it finally works. Before I wash my hair, I mix TRESemme moisture rich conditioner ( with brown label) and extra virgin avocado oil but not the one from the beauty store but the one it could be found in high quality grocery stories.I also add the extra virgin coconut oil which I bought in An Indian store. After I washed my hair became so soft and silky. I highly recommended.
I WISH I could go a day or two without washing my hair but when I do, you can totally tell that I havent washed it, it gets oily at the roots and it clumps together unnaturally. It just looks gross lol I may try that thing you mentioned where you only washed the roots :) I also think I may be using too much shampoo. Once I used barely enough to coat my scalp, and then let the water lather it down to the rest of my hair and it seemed to work better than what I usually do lol
Hello! I just discovered your videos:) You are a wise woman! I'm wondering if you could tell me what you do to style your hair if you don't usually use heat and such. Do you just apply product and air dry? Nothing else? Tell me your secrets, girl....I need help.
Thank you so much for your advice on how to have beautiful, long, healthy hair. I've watched this video a while ago and I have taken so much of your advice. My hair really is looking much healthier than before I watched this vid. Thank you so much again , & you're absolutly right, taking good care of hair isn't difficult. I enjoyed watching your vid.=)
I'm trying to grow my hair longer, it's in poor condition - dry, damaged from colouring. After viewing your videos I have stopped blow drying, and I'm not going to colour it again.
Was hoping you could give me some advice - what's the best haircut for long hair - your cut is lovely? Is it layered? I think my layers make my hair look worse - it almost highlights the dryness & bad condition. What kind of cut should I go for?
i am black indian and white and unfortunately my hair grows slow. are there any thing i can use to speed up the process? also are their any fast growing shampoos i can use?
You have to be patient for your hair to grow, get regular trims, and unfortunatley, the speed at which your hair grows is not dependant on the shampoo you use, you'll realise that your hair is growing faster than you think.
I was wondering why my hair is naturally rough? When i let it air dry, it is naturally rough and dry and puffy(wavy hair), but when i straighten it, its like all of that goes away! It gets shiny and soft, like you cant even imagine!
Why does my hair do this?
Also, i was wodering how i can keep my hair like this all the time, and make my naturally rough, puffy, wavy hair very healthy?
=D i used to have the same problem with my hair, leave your straightner alone and go a week shampooing your hair everyother day with a deep conditioner, let it dry naturally, use no products and you'll see your hair improving, get it trimmed and your hair will be happy.
If your addicted to your straightener - play around with your hair and find a style that looks good and doesn't require heated products. o(^_____^)o
There are temporary ways to fix split ends/breakage etc. But they'll only see you throughout the day. You can find them in shampoos/conditioners, serums. The ones for split ends just glue your ends together temporaraly, so i just reccomend a 1/2 inch trim
If you don't want to cut most of your hair off, do a small trim, let it grow, do another trim until the damaged hair is gone, however its a painfully long process than just cutting it all off, good luck =]
A safer way to scent your hair is to use fragrance oils. You can find just about any scent on the planet, including designer duplicate scents, like Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Yankee Candle, etc. They contain no alcohol, so you won't dry out and damage your hair. They use carrier oils like jojoba, grapeseed, almond oil, so you're actually conditioning your hair. It's also a great way to add shine and tame flyaways.
A safer way to scent your hair is to use fragrance oils. You can find all sorts of duplicates; Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Sarah Jessica Parker, Yankee Candle, whatever your favorite scent is... They don't contain any alcohol, so there is no drying effect on your hair. Just rub a small amount in your palms and run through your hair. It also works well if you need a bit of shine, or frizz control.
I've got some thick-ass hair. But, I know I'm destroying it trying to tame it with my fat iron. It's so hard to dry. I'm doing a French twist now so I don't have to blow dry my hair so deeply or straiten every strand to death. The hair color conditioners are great! Also a super(super-duper depending on your hair type) light spray of "Luster's Pink Glosser" can help lay down those little fly-aways, a good finisher and it's cheap.
I was wondering if u have any advice for hair loss
Not more than a year ago I had real healthy hair but lightly its been falling out a lot
Getting real dry and a lil frizzy I have really curly hair and I was wondering if u had any advice so prevent my hair from falling off ...thanx jesse =]
I straighten my hair all the time, what is a good way to start like, stopping it? I have a bunch of layers and when I don't straighten them they go all weird so what should I do?
ME TOO! my mom always saves those deep conditionars. it drivess me INSANE! she has like a million of those in hr closet. maybe thats y u and my mom have good hair
You are absolutley stunning! My hair is completely fried because I recently went bleach blonde. Any tips on fixing really fried hair? I know I should cut it off short but if I did, I'd be losing 5-6 inches off of my hair that is only to my shoulders!
Hi! First of all you are great and your hair is beautiful!! I want to deep condition my hair but I didnt really understood what product you mentioned to deep condition your hair. Would you mind giving me my the names of the products? I would really apreciated it. Thank you.
i have really dry hair too! what I do is when get out of the shower, i towel dry my hair - just gently - and then I smooth it with a little baby oil. When my hair dries, its really silky and shiny! Just don't use too much oil! The other thing you can do is about haf an hour before you shower, massage your scalp with mustard oil and rub it into your hair, and just let it sink in for a while - th e longer the better. Its doesnt smell very nice, but the smell and excess oil washes out!
I Love everything you do to your hair. And the styles. It's natural and simple. I think you should out a list of all the prodiucts you use on here. Because I would really like to use them. Because the problem with my hair is that I get slpit end really quick and it get dry. My hair is straight and wavy at the top and curly down at the bottom. Like the way Halle Berry hair is. Your like my hero foreal. You should have a talk show on hair.
What do you do if you have really dry hair, i just can't get rid of it, i put alot of conditioner on a leave it on for 5 mins and i use herbal essences shampoo but it is still dry do you have any tips on how to get rid of the dryness?
you should try Motions "after shampoo conditioner" it works with my hair! After you shampoo your hair towel dry it. Apply a good amount of Motions "after shampoo conditioner" comb thru and put a plastic cap. Leave on for about 30-45 minutes... I know its a long time but you will instantly feel the difference! Try this every 3-4 weeks. Good luck!
I have a problem with my hair. I've tried everything but i can't get rid of my dandruff. I've tried Selsun Blue Head and Shoulder and i've also tried equate. i need you're help!
i have a problem with my hair. My hair is very dry and i can't find any product that will help. I've tried Head and Shoulders, Selsun Blue, and Equate yet none of these help me control may dandruff. Sometimes my dandruff can get very embarrassing...i need your help!
any way to make your hair thicker? i have somewhat thinner and wavy/curly hair, but my curl/waves are the bad kinds, the messy kinds that never look symetrical or even and always go fluffy when i do brush it. so i chem straightenned it, and flat iron the new growth to keep it straight because that's how much i cant stand my curls. any ideas to make the curls u know, GOOD? volumizing shampoos and conditioners dont work for me. the only way i can get volume is with a hair dryer.
What kind of brush do you suggest for wavy hair? I have a dislike to boar bristle brushes though...thanks for all the information. I'm going to drink more milk!
do you have any suggestions for hair that is becoming a bit thinner? cuz im veryyyy used to having thick hair, and ive realized thats its slowly but surely becoming more brittle and a little more is coming out when i comb it. it also gets knotty easier. but i havent cut my ends in a while. do you think thts it ?
First of all, I would talk to my doctor about this and make sure that it's not something serious. Secondly, consider your age. I am not sure how old you are, but I know that as we get older, our hair begins to thin. If you've ruled out the above, try starting all over again with a nice trim. It should take about a year to get your hair healthy and strong again. But if you follow the above steps, you should be ok.
haha. i doubt its something serious, so no need to go to the doctor. i failed to mention i started using a new shampoo and stuff that i didnt think worked well and it took me a while to get a new one [which i find works better]. but im not tht old either, im actually pretty young :) butt, i think, now that you say it, i need a haircut :(
Another thing to keep in mind is that you hair changes every 7-8 years from thin to thick to wavy to curly to straight to bendy to less bendy. And don't hold on to damaged ends like they are worth something!!! All they will do it work themselves up the shafts of your hair causing more damage.
HAHAHHAHHAHAAHHA! :D yeah I didn't want to study it before I read it. I wanted it to be known that I wasn't making it up. That I was actually reading your tips! ^__^
You can buy pure indigo powder (I'm not sure where it's available, because I don't live in the U.S. - maybe online?) Basically you make a paste with it and apply it to your hair for a natural black hair dye. You could also mix it with henna powder, because henna is really good for the hair and probably won't make any noticeable color change since your hair color is very dark! :) x
but beware that it's real henna (green stuff, turns black on skin in 48hrs) because fake henna that is black is poisonous and can result in permanent damage to your body&health. also, you may get new allergies because of the effect on your immune system. depends on the amount of use, of course. anyway i bet it would be bad for your hair, too.
sorry for the long, almost off-topic speech here, but i heard all this from a recent research and i hope to spread the news:)
I love the tips. I'm a latina and I have similar hair to yours. One tip that I want to share is that when I'm ready to rinse off the conditioner in the shower, I turn down the hot water low so it's only cold water (non-cafinated way to wake up) then I rinse my hair with the cold water. It brings a super shine to my hair.
ChristinaR77-I've tried that before. It does work but it's oh so cold-you are right! I now do that when I only wash my hair :D It really does work. Thank you for the tip!
Thanks for all the great tips! I've done too much heat damage to my hair. I've had a lot of people on here say how "Healthy" my hair looks and what not but it's health has gone down tremendously from what it used to be. Guess I'll have to take a break from having straight hair for a while. :)
Seriously....You should send a picture of yourself and your hair to a hair product company. They'd be crazy to not think "We want THAT girl to represent our products!" after taking one look at your hair and your gorgeous face! :D
I love all your videos you have such great tips. I stay away from heating products just becuase I'm too lazy to use them, and when I want to curl my hair I use sponge rollers when my hair is already dry and even though I dye my hair it looks so healthy. I want to go back to my natural hair color though.
I started dying my hair about 3 yrs ago and it completely damaged my long dark brown hair. It made me very depress when I had to cut half of it off, dye my hair black to start letting it grow out to it's natural color without it being too noticeable. Something that has helped keep it shiny and soft is using baby's shampoo and Aussie or Charles Worthington conditioners. Baby's shampoo is not as harsh as other shampoos and keeps your natural oils and scalp healthy. Thanks for the extra tips! =)
hey there! can you tell us the type of cut your hair has? is it layered in the front or throughout the back? is it texured or thinned out? thanks! i appreciate the info.
it's gorgeous!
oh and i love to use BIOSILK serum. Have you tried it? it smells great and you can use it on your skin as a 'conditioner'.....
I love your hair, what I do for my own hair is deep condition once a month with 100% certified organic coconut oil. I apply it all over my hair and cover it with a shower cap for 30min and wash it off. It makes my hair super glossy and soft.
Others w/ oily hair might not like this.

smplyirrizistable-It depends on how fast your hair grows when you trim it. How fast does it grow?
Also, how much of it is damaged? 3 inches, 5 inches etc..

can you tell my why my hair does this?
when i let it naturally air-dry, my hair is naturally REALLY rough and dry and puffy.
but when i straighten it, my hair is so soft, silky, smooth and shiny. it seems like the rough and dryness got pulled out. why is this?
also, what can i do to make my hair naturally soft and shiny, and make the dryness and roughness and puffiness all go away?
Thanks so much : )
Also, i was wondering, do you have ONE broken piece of hair or split end?

does the gathering of the hair in different tails or buns affect considerably the health of your hair?
How do you keep your hair at night?

how can you fix brakeage WITHOUT cutting all the way to were the brakeage stops, plzz answer
greekgeek50 3 years ago

I have a very oily scalp so I need to wash my hair everday! Could I still use this product?
mardel3 3 years ago
I've got some thick-ass hair. But, I know I'm destroying it trying to tame it with my fat iron. It's so hard to dry. I'm doing a French twist now so I don't have to blow dry my hair so deeply or straiten every strand to death. The hair color conditioners are great! Also a super(super-duper depending on your hair type) light spray of "Luster's Pink Glosser" can help lay down those little fly-aways, a good finisher and it's cheap.

You are absolutley stunning! My hair is completely fried because I recently went bleach blonde. Any tips on fixing really fried hair? I know I should cut it off short but if I did, I'd be losing 5-6 inches off of my hair that is only to my shoulders!

i have really dry hair too! what I do is when get out of the shower, i towel dry my hair - just gently - and then I smooth it with a little baby oil.

Instead of using baby oil as a hair treatment, try olive oil.

What do you do if you have really dry hair, i just can't get rid of it, i put alot of conditioner on a leave it on for 5 mins and i use herbal essences shampoo but it is still dry do you have any tips on how to get rid of the dryness?
SystemofadownSD 3 years ago
you should try Motions "after shampoo conditioner" it works with my hair! After you shampoo your hair towel dry it. Apply a good amount of Motions "after shampoo conditioner" comb thru and put a plastic cap. Leave on for about 30-45 minutes... I know its a long time but you will instantly feel the difference! Try this every 3-4 weeks. Good luck!

any way to make your hair thicker? i have somewhat thinner and wavy/curly hair, but my curl/waves are the bad kinds, the messy kinds that never look symetrical or even and always go fluffy when i do brush it. so i chem straightenned it, and flat iron the new growth to keep it straight because that's how much i cant stand my curls. any ideas to make the curls u know, GOOD? volumizing shampoos and conditioners dont work for me. the only way i can get volume is with a hair dryer.

Hello! This is the best video about healthy hair I've ever seen. But I have a question :)
What products do you eat to get your hair so geat? Your hair is so shiny! How do you do this?
Greets from the Netherlands, from janneke
JannekeMeijer 4 years ago
What kind of brush do you suggest for wavy hair? I have a dislike to boar bristle brushes though...thanks for all the information. I'm going to drink more milk!
popsiclestar 4 years ago
do you have any suggestions for hair that is becoming a bit thinner? cuz im veryyyy used to having thick hair, and ive realized thats its slowly but surely becoming more brittle and a little more is coming out when i comb it. it also gets knotty easier. but i havent cut my ends in a while. do you think thts it ?
shawneebecool 4 years ago
First of all, I would talk to my doctor about this and make sure that it's not something serious. Secondly, consider your age. I am not sure how old you are, but I know that as we get older, our hair begins to thin. If you've ruled out the above, try starting all over again with a nice trim. It should take about a year to get your hair healthy and strong again. But if you follow the above steps, you should be ok.
ilovegerardo 4 years ago
haha. i doubt its something serious, so no need to go to the doctor. i failed to mention i started using a new shampoo and stuff that i didnt think worked well and it took me a while to get a new one [which i find works better]. but im not tht old either, im actually pretty young :) butt, i think, now that you say it, i need a haircut :(
thank you very muchhhh!
shawneebecool 4 years ago
Another thing to keep in mind is that you hair changes every 7-8 years from thin to thick to wavy to curly to straight to bendy to less bendy. And don't hold on to damaged ends like they are worth something!!! All they will do it work themselves up the shafts of your hair causing more damage.

LeiaB9 4 years ago
but beware that it's real henna (green stuff, turns black on skin in 48hrs) because fake henna that is black is poisonous and can result in permanent damage to your body&health. also, you may get new allergies because of the effect on your immune system. depends on the amount of use, of course. anyway i bet it would be bad for your hair, too.
sorry for the long, almost off-topic speech here, but i heard all this from a recent research and i hope to spread the news:)

bambiieyz 4 years ago
I love the tips. I'm a latina and I have similar hair to yours. One tip that I want to share is that when I'm ready to rinse off the conditioner in the shower, I turn down the hot water low so it's only cold water (non-cafinated way to wake up) then I rinse my hair with the cold water. It brings a super shine to my hair.
ChristinaR77 4 years ago
ChristinaR77-I've tried that before. It does work but it's oh so cold-you are right! I now do that when I only wash my hair :D It really does work. Thank you for the tip!
ilovegerardo 4 years ago
Wanted also to mention that for dyeing your hair black, you can use indigo powder, which is completely natural :)

Thanks for all the great tips! I've done too much heat damage to my hair. I've had a lot of people on here say how "Healthy" my hair looks and what not but it's health has gone down tremendously from what it used to be. Guess I'll have to take a break from having straight hair for a while. :)
kuuipo1207 4 years ago
kuuipo1207 -Yeah you have to give your hair a break once in a while. It deserves it. I think

I love all your videos you have such great tips. I stay away from heating products just becuase I'm too lazy to use them, and when I want to curl my hair I use sponge rollers when my hair is already dry and even though I dye my hair it looks so healthy. I want to go back to my natural hair color though.
sheibug 4 years ago
I started dying my hair about 3 yrs ago and it completely damaged my long dark brown hair. It made me very depress when I had to cut half of it off, dye my hair black to start letting it grow out to it's natural color without it being too noticeable. Something that has helped keep it shiny and soft is using baby's shampoo and Aussie or Charles Worthington conditioners. Baby's shampoo is not as harsh as other shampoos and keeps your natural oils and scalp healthy. Thanks for the extra tips! =)
