Not entirely, I did what ldw73085 said(turn of high noise reduction), it worked. I got 50+ fps back again(even at RAW). Meh, I don't really need that kind of burst. 5-6fps will do for me imo.
Someone here solved it. I just turned off the noise reduction and boom, I can shoot in BURST like a machine gun. I use a sandisk extreme thing... I read from a book that expensive CF cards doesn't affect cameras like the 40D. The ones that really benefit from the fast cache thing are the pro models.
It's supposed to be marginally (like, not-humanly-noticeably) faster if the aperture is set to wide open so the camera doesn't have to shrink the aperture before taking the shot.
It's a good lens, a little slow for sports but takes in light like crazy. A little bit of CA wide open, but that's usually the case for most lenses besides the super telephoto primes.
i would not like to be those aperture blades :D

What type of memory card do you have? If you bought a cheapie, there may be some problems with it not being able to keep up.

I think it would be a little faster if you'd set the aperture to f/1.4.
fischlunge 3 years ago
I don't think so. It should be just as fast with any aperture, while set on manual.

Cool. I bought the 50mm f/1.4 for my new Digital Rebel XSi. The lens came, but the camera has arrived yet, lol.
