  • @snowy1500 I would say yes mostly because if you get an advisory in a situation that might save your life and you don't here it,or one of your brothers/sisters is trying to get to you,but it's your fire depts policy,

  • Turnout gear $1500,oxygen tanks $100, knowing your brother has your back priceless

  • BE SAFE BROTHERS FROM ALPLAUS NY(A.F.D)

  • @snowy1500 I would say yes you can however that depends on your departments policy. You might not be able to fight fires but you could still be a rescue tech or a safety officer etc.

  • does anybody know if you could be a firefighter if you are hard of hearing in one ear

  • @snowy1500 I know a firefighter with one hand. I am a firefighter and I'm scared of heights. (getting out of that fear real quick) I don't know about paid firefighters but I'm sure they wont hold that against somebody if they can still do the job. One ear? That's it? Go for it. Just make sure to let them know.

  • BE SAVE BROTHERS...FROM HOUSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT (H.F.D)

  • The name of this group is Highland Reign. The name of the song is BROTHER. I just heard the group in concert at the Fort Massac Re-enactment in Metropolis, Illinois. The song is awesome. A member of the group said he wrote it shortly after visiting the site of 9-11 Ground Zero at the Trade center site. I think he said that was about 3 years ago that he was there.

  • what is this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i also am trying to find the real name of the song so i can put it on a disc

  • im a jr firefighter in AR love it been around since i was like 6 love it and it is a brother hood

  • name song please?

  • Not always the case. I had to move and couldn't get anyone from the fire department to help me move. It still can be a popularity contest.

  • i hear that brother i got booted out of a vol. dept. because someone was running their mouth about me on things i didn't do

  • I am a junior firefighter in Munhall, Pa and I've been in for not even 6 months and I feel good as a firefighter I love it honestly

  • This is my first year on the job and i feel like i found my place

  • My Dad is a Firefighter and I love going to the station with him

  • I was a firefighter!

  • Amen we have each ohters back whether we get paid for it or not. All firefighters are brothers

  • what is this song and who sings it

  • look 14 jackasses

  • I'm on the rig with the same 3 guys every shift. I can't imagine life without them now.

  • Very nice and well made video!

I'm a german vff. But it is all over the world the same. Same brotherhood, same fire, same haters! But we don't care, because we are already at the next fire... LOL

Thank you for making this vid!

btw i am interested in the us.volunteer fire department. Terms, ranks and positions in a station/department. If anyone of you is bored, he could explain me the "who is who". I would appreciate it very much!

I'm also interested in international friendships with ff's!

  • @dragonwalker77

what would you like to know about vol. dept.?

  • About 70% of firefighters in the US are volunteers. Many work along side paid firefighters. Some of us are paid on call meaning we only get paid when we respond to calls. The department I am on is a mix of paid and paid on call. Paid on call firefighters show up to all the same trainings as full time firefighters and are required to spend a min of 20 hours per month at the station on duty. Most of us are also licensed emergency medical technicians. Ranks are the same as paid in volunteer depts.

  • @Pimpster82 Thank you for this. It is here very similar... The most, (80%) are volunteers, the rest paid... . If you are volunteer, you get almost no money... your employer can send a bill for the lost time... so you get paid through your employer. But only in your common working time...

Our trainings are also mostly similar to the paid ff's. But we do the most on the weekends. (this is cheaper for the department lol )in our vol ff dept are only a few emergency medical educated... (cont.)

  • ... some of us join also the german red cross and get there a medical education. The common ff knows only about first aid...

KVHCprobie (very kindly youtuber and firefighter) told me already a bit.

We differentiate a bit between ranks and positions. I, for example, am the first of four groupleaders in our station. This station is one of 4 in our department(town). This means i lead the group, usually 8 ff without me, in a mission. When i am the first groupleader at the scene, i become (cont)

  • ...automatically the mission-leader till the next higher position (station chief, department chief) arrives.

I am also resonsible for the trainings and education in our complete station.

btw... we are about 35 active members (comrades) plus the elders.

My rank is "Löschmeister", literally "Extinguishing Master"... when i am right, it is something between assistant station chief and Lieutenant.

I hope this was a bit interesting for you!

  • @dragonwalker77

Yes I like learning about how these things are done elsewhere. As for the last part we have a rank between Assistant Chief and Lieutenant. The rank of Captain. We also have a position of training officer and safety officer. You have to remember though that with 50 states and over 3000 counties in the US there are many differences in how individual departments run. I am curious in Germany as a volunteer are you allowed to run emergency lights and sirens in your personal.....

  • @dragonwalker77

Vehicle when responding to a call? Here we are but not in every state or department is this allowed.

  • the brotherhood of a fire dept. is crazy...its like my second family. im on the Goshen Indiana central city station. we have had a couple fall throughs...floors cave in and roofs collapse on us....but there is something about having your brothers trapped that gives you that extra boost of power.

  • Clayfire, thanks for posting this video, my brother. I've been a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT for 7 years and I love what doing it.

  • @Arcadiaredneck Imma bout to do the same. Just got my EMT card...

  • nice vid

  • okay im sorry but this song is terrible and slightly homo-erotic, like firefighters are awesome, i respect them more than most other people, but this song is just awful

  • Norhkid15, another typical a hole!

  • EDIOTS

  • great vid can you tell me the name of the song please id like to get it

  • thnxs firefighter linda in pa

  • although I too fireman

  • Volunteer Firefighter/EMT, DeSoto County Fire/Rescue, SW Florida. Love the Video.

  • i`m a firefighter . i love it . no matter how many people call me a hero or thank me . i dont care what they say i`m just doing my job i dont see myself as a hero ...

  • alvinfry shut ur fucking mouth these idoit didnt have to go into the world trade center they could of stood back like u probley did u fucking pussy fuck ur mother, fuck ur sister, fuck ur grandmother, fuck u asshole

  • hey alvinfry y dont u shut the hell up and not try to be such a dick to people who give up their time to save ur sorry ass from dying in a burning building u fucking prick

  • Comment removed

  • @alvinfry we'll remember that next time we are pulling your ass out of your burning house. we aren't over paid and alot of us are volunteers who don't get paid. You call us useless idiots and sots now, but we'll see how you feel once we've saved your ass

  • @alvinfry. Its people like you who make me sick. Who could actualy thing firefighters are useless. plus, theres somthing called a volunteer fire department, they dont even get paid and still they sacrifice themselves for people like you. Your the kind of person who would walk across the street when a firetruck is comming down the road to save some1s life. God help you that when your a in a burning building, you get your ass saved, and some fucker like you didnt walk infront of the firetruck.

  • @alvinfry tell that to them when your being burnt alive

  • @thegiantpigeon They wouldn't hear me, they would all still be at the grocery store filling their carts with food no one else can afford... and why not, it's free for them right? Pathetic wastes of tax dollars.

  • @alvinfry well considering the comments about the fireservice said by you maybe its good that the firefighters wont hear you when your being burnt alive. think about it pal

  • @alvinfry you don't even realize that the majority of ffs aren't even paid and you don't see the ones that are driving fancy cars or living in 500,000 dollar houses so before you come on tho a firefighting video to trash firefighters (get a life) you should get your head out of your ass dumb shit if i met you i would kick your ass

  • @cutiger3115 Wow, you're a fire fighter and you're an e-tough guy. In California, fuckface, all the fire fighters live in $500,000 and up homes and drive fancy cars. They're part of the reason CA is broke. So shove your E-threats right up your loose ass and fuck off.

  • @alvinfry YOU are really starting to piss me off and im not just an e tough guy what do you do for a living e-bitch god fuck off

  • @alvinfry Actually check the statistics

the highest paying fire dept job in the country is in fact in California(oakland) but with a yearly salary of $80,000.

how one buys a fancy car and a nice house on $80,000 before taxes a year is a little hard to beleive. Now granted some do have nice stuff but can you really say all of them do?

  • I can't wait to start! In january i have to do Work Experience at a fire station so...what do you do there? Like on a daily basis?

  • Volunteer FireFighters dont get paid, Im a volunteer but i get paid because i stay at the station all day and attend all medical, rescue, and fire calls.

  • Firefighters don't even get paid?Jesus Christ...

  • @ GBallaJ. ya they do get paid, but most firefighters are volunteers.

  • Stay safe and keep kickin that fire ass. Sr. Firefighter Roanoke County VA Fire & Rescue

  • i was sitting in front of the fire house when a kid calls me a nozzle nut to days later hes running out a house im running in and after words he was trying to sign up to be a jr.firefighter

  • hah cool

  • That's how it is though. Some people just have no respect for anyone, until that someone is saving your ass.

Good to see him make a change though. He may love it.

  • firefighting nothing like i love this job and my brothers. stay safe my brother firefighters.

  • The average person has no idea the schooling and training necessary to become a firefighter/paramedic. My son is a FT/FF/Medic. I want to take this moment to say thank you to each of you for the hard work and dedication, for risking your life for other without thought, yet knowing that along side you is a sister or brother firefighter keeping you safe. Thank you each you, May God keep you safe.

  • Thank you. It means a lot to all of us to see/hear people say things like that.

  • Its my pleasure.

On avg, there are 150 applicants for each open position. That is why only the BEST become firefighters and medics... not only are they smart, physcially and mentally active, and look great in turn out gear- they are wonderful caring people!

the brother/sisterhood is that of no other.

Hi Five my friend, be safe...

  • Yes "THANK YOU" sir/maam, we dont hear it much, but when we do like you are doing here now, it makes me know Im doing this job and people appreciate it. I will never put a dollar on this job as a volunteer, my payment is seeing the faces of those we help in their time of need.,,,and when folks like you show their appreciation. God Bless You.

  • You're welcome! "There's nothing Stronger than the Heart of a Firefighter." You'll not always hear "good job" but in your heart you know what you did was priceless. God knows too!

My son started as a volunteer and is now a FT FF/Parmedic. The bible says we are not to be proud but humble, how could I not be proud of my son and all the ff/emts. Though he is humble! As most are, mom still says a prayer for each and everyone of you!

Be Safe, Have Fun and Thank you!

  • i love this video, i am just starting as a volunteer firefighter, i look forward to having this kind of brotherhood with my fellow firefighters.

  • Bro I joined the New Zealand Fire Service as a fire fighter in March and bro. It's the best thing you'll ever do ae!

  • Isn't it awesome how the feeling of brotherhood can stretch even to each end of the earth.

    Stay safe out there brother!

  • Well UnionSation, let me say that there is nothing better than the brotherhood, I was told from day one when I entered the firehouse that "if they pick on you and do stuff to you, that means they welcome you into the brotherhood"...I can tell you as a probie, I got it all, as does all that come into the fire service, there is nothing better than the brotherhood, and I will say it over and over again till Im blue, its one of the reasons I love this job so much. Thanks brothers for everything!!!

  • hey that was really good advice... I know just two days ago I was on call the whole day with my brothers and sisters and all they did to me basically was pickin on me.... When I read your message to the unionstation that helped a lot... Thanxs man...

  • Hey no problem at all. Alot of rookie Firefighters come into this and when there given the horrible jobs like cleaning the bathrooms, Or when they are picked on, they arent liked, first off, from the start of the fireservice probies are treated this way I believe to see how they will handle themselves, the picking on part as I said is their way of being a brother. Look up on You Tube "Firefighter Probie Jokes" and youll see everything under the sun. I love the brotherhood!!!

  • my favorite joke is asking the fresh green recruit/probie to find the brake fluid on the engine which has air brakes. we have one guy we call "Radio" after the Cuba gooding jr movie, he searched for hours. We call him radio because hes African American, almost legally retarded and cant catch a football.

  • ha ha

  • 343 This code symbolizes the dedication of all Firefighters on that horrific day our brothers will never be forgotten and there spirit are always with us.

  • there is nothing stronger then the brotherhood of firefighters and the military. nothing is stronger. 9/11 we will never forget 343

  • Any one know who sings that song and what it's called

  • all ways remember " you go we go"

  • Backdraft, amazing move.

  • Backdraft, my favorite movie... it inspired me to become a firefighter. "you go, we go"

  • i like this song alot. as many of u have said we all have eachothers back no matter where we are. when we lose one of our own a part of us goes too. we don't do it be a hero we do it for the people. paied or vol we are all in it together. i love that we are all a close family. but it hurts me so much it took 9/11 for the world to see us and care. it mke me proud to be in the uniform and being in a parde with the flags and the firefighting tools and seeing the people stand up and give the respect

  • Any one know the name of the song playing and who plays it Thanx!!

  • Comment removed

  • Explorer at Maple Grove MGFD, hoping like crazy to join there someday and do my city, state, and country proud.

  • i am a son of a captain... fire fighting is the best job ever!

i am joing in a few years

  • I'm also a cadet for White River Fire Department of Greenwood Indiana

  • became a junior fire fighter of last year. Im loving it.

  • Glad your liking it, I'm also a Cadet, don't like the term Junior.

  • where are you a cadet

  • Cadet at the Wadesville VFD in southern Indiana. I am also the cadet explore Assistant Chief.

  • I'm a Cadet/Explorer at the Elburn & Countryside Fire Prot. Dist. in northern Illinios. I'm the cadet/exploer Liuetenant.

  • im a cadet/explorer in Doylestown VFC in PA and im loving it. planing to move to ny and join the fdny as a career

  • thats awesome. Did you do fire fighting boot camp at all? Isn't it hard to get into the FDNY for a career? What is VFC?

  • VFC= volunteer fire company

  • I am assuming that it stands for Volunteer Fire Company.

  • good video but a very bad song

  • and theres a poem you can google firefighter poetry , theres one thats called "firemen dont have a chance" you guys should read it .

  • I just did a search on the poem and all I can say is wow. That is so true, that I actually got numb from reading it. Its amazing how people view us, and unfort. dont have a clue. Well brothers we know the truth and how we do the job, sometimes not how we wanna do it, turns out, but we all know what has to be done and thats all that matters to save a life, property, and each other.

  • hahaha

my department always breaks out singing with this song

    even tho im a sister

    but whatever

    its great .

  • what is the name of the artist and song title of the music being played

  • LFfiredeptgirl i agree and 911 showed that volunteer paid fdny or cali fire dept it doesnt matter where all Brother & sisters

  • Very well said ntfd125. Paid, volunteer, or paid on-call, it doesn't matter, we all do it because we love it. If your in it for the money you are probably not in it for the right reasons.

  • Scanning all the postings and responses on this video, and I find this one to be the best one of them all....perfectly put...as volunteers (and Ive said this a million times) no payment in money can replace those that we help everyday...just the smile and thank you we get is all I need for payment. Paid FF are the samething, they work at doing what they love, they can choose whether to go to work that day or look for another proffession, were all the same when the smoke clears, end of story.

  • I'll second that, I went from vollie to career, and it's all the same in the end. Except less BS politics in the career dept.

  • amen brother... i love jumping on that truck every day whn my pager goes off... id love to go to a paid dept but fro fight now this is fine with me

  • @NJS1726 I'm a volunteer as well brother. I love every second of it. I wouldn't have it any other way.

  • @casams1992 Same here brother. I love the feeling you get after you fight a brush fire that is danger close to a house.

  • @JakeAshley88 Hell Yeah!

  • @casams1992 Exactly buddy. Knowing you saved that house, when you think of the young kids that live in that house who were that close to losing their house but they didnt because of you and your department! Thats what keeps me going and i cant wait to do it for a living one day.

  • @JakeAshley88 You Said It Best Brother.

  • but, again, our job is to help people, to preserve life and property, so some would see us as heroes because we risk our lives for others

  • Hey my husband is in this video, wondering if I can get a copy of the photo he's in

  • u dont need a copy of the video u just get the code or save it to ur computer.

  • no i meant the photo that was used in the video

  • my department is 100% volunteer. We also man the station on holidays and every weekend. But firefighters are firefighters dosen't matter if their paid or volunteer the job is the same

  • AMEN.

  • 10-4

  • good vid good song I agree with the other firefighters its not heroism, Its just a job we love to do. WFD

  • liked the video.. not heroes...just do what we enjoy ... WCFD

  • Great Video man..

I loved it but firefighter like me don't say we are heros but if we do it's ok because many other people say that we are heros..

We are the bravest people and run in the fire not out..

I don't have the other firefighters back and we are like brothers...

    take care..

Volunteer firefighter in Georgia, Altanta, Cobb County

  • we are not heroes we are ordinary people doing an out of the ordinary job...

by the way love the video

  • if you ask any REAL firefighter they will tell you that they are not heroes they're just doin their job

  • Paid firefighters give up their lives just to FIND a job. Then they spend all of that time at the fire house responding to calls. They are also usually a bit more aggressive at fires. Career firefighters deserve the money that they make.

Nothing against vollies, but to say they are more "heroic" makes no sense. Especially when a lot of career firefighters are also on volunteer depts.

  • Don't worry vollies aren't saying that, only one person is. We are equal in our profession, no one is better than another.

There are overwhelmingly more volunteers in this country and probably most others as well.

Any firefighter has the same potential of being injured or killed.

    Stay safe everyone!

    Volunteer firefighter in Pennslyvania.

  • Dude, dont make us look like assholes too...lol...

  • Johnny sounds like he doesn't have any idea what he's talking about.

I don't know one firefighter that considers him/herself a hero. If the person does then he/she is in it for the wrong reason.

Because some firefighters are paid, they aren't as "heroic" to you? Most firefighters are paid complete crap. Sure, they make money while others do it for free, but look at the hours they put in. Most volunteers respond from home as part of a dept with 300 calls/year and 2 fires/year.

  • I'm currently in training up here in Minnesota. When I first arrived at the school here it was awkward because I felt like an outsider. Didn't take but a day for the second years to make me feel at home. Theres a bond like no other and I'm glad to be a part of it. See you at station someday.

  • I recently started firefighting and I can say that the people that I have met in my short time have been some of the greatest people ever. All of you are amazing.

  • Over 80% of the firefighters in the US are volunteer. In either case the fire burns just as hot, and doesn't discriminate on who or what it burns. We train the same and we die the same. We are brothers and sisters ALL.

  • matthewcody: LOL, yeah I agree about the freezing below zero fires sucking royaly!

We are in this together, whether we are paid or not. Most of us never use the word hero to describe ourselves. When the public does it is meant with all due respect and it should be taken as such. There are so many things that are worth discussing over, this isn't one of them. Let's support each other, not tear each other down. Great video!

  • I thnik the same as CobbFireman and i am a portuguese firefigther. All firefighter are bother, portuguese, american ou french a bother is always a bother.

    Lets continuos saving lifes BROTHERS

  • I love this video because All firefighter are like brother to each other and help each other

  • I love that video!!!!

I have benn I firefighter for 3 year and I loved evry second of it because me and my fire mates got my back and there like brothers to me

  • if you have to expaine the brotherhood they wont get it. stay safe brothers

  • i rockin

  • Ive been a firemen for 4 years now. Love it very much, nothing i would rather do. Very demanding job, but the most rewarding job ever. The brother hood you will gain is like no other! Would not change it for the world but be prepared for some though sights!!!

  • Not only do I like Firemen and Firefighters because they put out fires, save people, but because they also help other people and have good uniforms, and also because Ive seen Firemen and Firefighter movies like Backdraft,Rescue Me,I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry,Third Watch,Ladder 49, The World Trade Center and other Firemen Movies. Thats why I Love your YouTube Video a lot and thats also another reason why I want to become a Firefighter when I graduate from College too.

  • Since I was in middle school I always have wanted to become a Fireman and Firefighter because I want to help people, and not only do I want to help other human beings but I also want to fight fires and wear their fireproof clothing with boots and a helmet too.

  • johnnyboy922, what about us volunteer guys? Sure we're not as high speed as the full timers, but you bet I don't get paid unless I die on the fire scene. I do it to help out, and because it's a good time for the most part... unless it's 2 am and freezing, then it sucks.

  • Johnnyboy, go jump in a burning building. When we save you, still tell us we are not your hero.

  • Johnnyboy922

No all volunteers work 24 hour shifts some respond from home and all Blue Collar workers are heros, Firefighters paid or volunteer, Cops, etc. They risk their lives everyday to protect people they don't know. As for the armed forces they are heros also. Anyone that protects other people lives for a paycheck or because they love to do it is a HERO!

  • i have not been a firefighter for very long and i am a volunteer, but that doest separate me from a paid volunteer because in the end our job is to save lifes even at the cost of our own..and that is a hero by definition if being paid makes you not a hero...then that would mean every army, navy, marine, and air force personal are not heroes either because there paid to do what they do as well

perhaps you should do something courageous in your life like this and maybe youll understand

  • i mean no disrespect by this at all so when you reply please dont disrespect me either. i personally dont feel anyone that saves lives and gets paid to do it is a hero, if it makes them feel good they can claim to be though. a real hero does it for free without being called upon or being paid to do it

  • There are volunteer. Firefighters, that make up way more then half of all firefighters in the country, and the paid ones get paid shit, and work 2 jobs or more to support there families, also they work in 24 hr shifts give up Christmas and other holidays to be at the station and work all night so we can be safe. All I can say to you is know the facts before you speak.

  • volunteer firefighters are heros. as for the holiday thing, its not a big deal. they work 24 hour shifts but how much of that time is spent actually fighting fires? i never said they didnt sacrifice alot or that they didnt do us a great service, all i said is in my book they arnt heros

  • Sir, I think you are being very disrespectful and have no idea what you are talking about. I am a PAID firefighter/paramedic....saving lives is part of my job everyday. It's not always fighting fires...its the strokes, heart attacks, and car accidents that take up most of my day.

  • I was also in the military...I GOT PAID as well as my brothers and sisters....are you saying that they are not heroes because they got paid. I don't view myself as a hero. I love my job and understand the risk and take it on willingly.

  • I do it because God has blessed me with the knowledge and skill to help people in emergency situations, someones mom, sister, brother, or maybe even one of your family members.

  • I view the ones that don't make it back as heroes because they understood the risk and paid the ultimate price. If you do any job because you want to be a hero and have the so called glory that goes along with it...you are in the profession for the wrong reasons. I don't do the job I do because of the money...I get paid crap.

  • i didnt say you guys didnt do an amazing job and save a lot of people and do a great service to your country. but your doing your jobs its what you get paid to do like every other person who has a job.

  • I don't think you know what you're saying. Volunteer's do the job because they love it. I volunteered to join the military...no one made me. I volunteered to give up seeing my family every third day because I love my job with the fire department. Being paid has nothing to do with it...I would do it for free.

  • I'm done trying to explain this to you. Join the real world. People have to choose their profession. People have to make a living. I could have made a lot more money with my college education, but it was my CHOICE to do what I do because I love it. I would love for you to come to my fire station and explain your position.

  • my position is a simple one to understand. how many FFs and cops have you heard say "im just doing my job" ive heard plenty. so if you think your a hero and are out to be one then just say that. ive even told my friends dad(FF) that i didnt think FF's were heros and he didnt disagree, all of my bros training to be FF's civilian or Navy agree with me. you must be pretty full of yourself to insist that your heros. just go hear it when you save someone while doing your JOB AT WORK
