  • I am taking notes my friend.

  • Sweet

  • @debo2j

I just put these pipes on my 2010 V Star 950 (with a Power Commander V)

I had my shop custom map the PCV, and it still pops quite a bit on decel. It's the nature of the straight pipes. They said it might help taking the baffles out, but my neighbors might hate me even more than they already do after installing the Cobras WITH baffles.

The uploader doesn't lie when he says these pipes are LOUD.

  • I have the 950t with the same exhaust and it pops like hell on decel. I gotta get the fi2000r. And have you taken the baffles out yet? I have and its loud as hell! not that it doesnt sound good with them in.

  • Just bought a set for my Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 also the Fi2000r also got the Baron big Air kit. I know its going to be sweet and can't wait for UPS to get here.

Had Cobra long Straights w/removable baffles, I can't say enough good about COBRA accept they do Awesome work.

Your bike is very sweet and sounds fantastic...

  • In what way did it change the performance? Love the sound by the way! It seems that the V-star 950 need customization to sound more American. Thanks for posting!

  • what does the Fi200R does? does it help with gas millage?

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds very good with that pipes,

even stock, the vstar 950 is the best sounding metric.

  • The bike sounds awesome. What kind of fuel mileage are you getting with the fi2000r?

  • how much did that upgrade cost you all together?

  • Beautiful bike. Can't wait to get one.

  • it sounds a lot better than the BMF exhaust. i've riden GSX-r, but I'm thinking of this chubby for touring from coast to coast. and i need the back leaner to cover my gf's ass up; her ass is huge! what a light weight, huh! less than 650bl. but it would add up to a thousand pounds if my chubby gf is on it. poor my puppy!

  • where did you get the seats for that

  • No doubt the 950 trumps the 650, but check out my test ride video

  • Hello Littlemac, what did you have for settings on the fi2000r? I had the same system and same bike but had to pull them off, I was only getting 100 miles to a full tank of gas and I was getting gas in the oil , I had the bike checked at the Yamaha Dealer and they said everything was installed properly but they could not figure out why it was running so Rich. So I called Cobra and they had no Ideas, other than maybe because I live in Canada and it is colder up here?

  • sounds awesome man... could you possibly make a video of you drivin by wit that new exhaust, that would be great, i wanna hear what it sounds like drivin down the road... thanx

  • How is the bike speed and torquewise/ I heard Vstar 950's were real pooches. And also the rear suspension bottoms out too much over small bumps. Any truth to this?

  • Wife just bought the touring version on Saturday. She LOVES it. I doubt she'll put those pipes on, but yours sounds really great.

Only thing, my wife has kind of a short torso, so she's looking at pullback risers.

  • That sounds perty!

I've been looking at this bike. It's at the top of my list. You guys like it?

  • That is freakin gorgeous. I seriously think I'm going to go buy one of these instead of a Harley now that my old virago is on its last leg.

  • @mpsoldier83 I love it. I'd take it over a Harley andy day. Awesome ride quality and really slick sleek lines. And tons of modern technology thrown on it.

  • Yeah, it sounds badass!

  • Sounds great!

  • The cobra slashdown exhaust is compatable with the saddlebags. I have these on my 950T along with the Cobra FI2000

  • I'm looking to get a 950T soon. You mentioned the performance gain. What is the advertised increase over stock or have you had this dyno'd to know exactly what the increase is? Thanks.

  • @snsams6 I haven't had it dyno'd and I'd have to look up the listed performance gains. But trust me, you can feel it in the throttle after the chip and exhaust are installed.

  • Sounds awesome. Is this exhaust compatible with the saddlebags?

  • @BossHogg1953 I'm not sure. You would have to check with Cobra

  • @BossHogg1953

They sure are Boss, I have the cobra speedster longs on my Star 1300 tourer and what a difference in the sound. A nice little jump in performance to.

  • @BossHogg1953 I don't think there's gonna be any problem :D

  • Hasn't anyone installed V & H on the 950?

  • Will that work with the saddle bags?

  • bad ass sounds mean as hell

  • nice pipes bro,great sound,love it,l'll be getting some.

Nice seat & bib setup, had planned to do the same to mine, now seeing it setup in the flesh, fantastic, great look, thanks.

Have on order national cycle 4.5 tinted screen for those really long rides.

can't wait to see the next installment

  • Saw this on the Yamaha Motorcycle Forum website! So I assume you're an YMFer? Shepherdess here. Beautiful bike! Especially with the ocean and palmtrees as a background (jealous).

  • Great bike. Did you have to install the fuel management system with the exhaust system, or was that just an option?

  • nice bike man!

  • ive done 110 on mine and im sure if i found a big downhill or somewhere not so windy i could prob get a lil higher

  • thinking about getting a v star 950 anyone know the top speed??

  • Tops out at 100mph - either governed or gears run out. My money is its the end of the gear as it is still torquey at 95mph.

  • Nicest sounding exhaust i've heard so far. Just picked up my 950 tourer last week, I love it so far.

  • awseome sound!!, i have the same bike and i want to get these pipes but there not out in australia yet. can you do a drive by video ?? or onboard?

  • Nice bike , i gotta get one!

  • sounds meaty. i like it.

  • I'm replacing the stock exhaust on my Star950 this week (bike is in the shop) with Cobra Longshot pipes think theyl look better on my tourin mod with the saddlebags. Also adding Power Commander and having the whole thing set up exactly to my bike on a dynomometer.

  • much better than the lame stock exhaust

  • NICE SOUND!

  • Hey boss got a quick question for ya? Does it pop on decel?? or did the programmer get rid of that?

    thanks again

  • The Fi2000R helps with the pop on decel. I never drove it without the chip, I installed both at the same time. But I haven't had any problems at all with any throttle response.

  • I love the slash downs, they are great exhausts. One tid bit of information though;

The Fi2000R is garbage, for just a plain exhaust you can take the bike to any authorized yamaha dealership and they will "flash" the stock ECU for you and it will automatically adjust the fuel to air ratio.

Another thing, if you do plan on adding the hypercharger, go with the power commander. That is highly recommended from Yamaha.

Take my info as you will. I have the 950 and love it.

  • I'm a new Vstar 950 owner and have been looking for a hypercharger but so far haven't found anyone who has one listed for the 950. Do you have a hypercharger and if so could you share some info?

  • They currently do not make one. They might release something mid-summer. That's the response I got when I called.

  • The Fi2000R works great and the dealer checked everything out and said it was running great. I'm sticking with it. Cobra has been more than helpful with tuning advice etc. We will see how it works when the hypercharger comes out. Have you tried it or just going off of what you have heard?

  • about how much did your pipes run you? I too have a v star 950... those look great on there.

  • Shop around, the prices vary

  • littlemac, Does your engine's lifters make a ticking sound like in this video?

    V-Star 950 Engine noise....

I'm wondering if the new exhaust and FI2000R cover or reduce the ticking noise. The ticking on my bike seems especially loud at lower speeds. Also if you have a better idea of the gas mileage after the modification I'd like to know if it changed much. I hope you don't mind the questions, I love your videos and tips. Are you Air Force? Way back I was a Navy Nuke. Safe riding!

  • I had it at the dealership a couple days ago and they said it was running great.

  • HeY

Whats the story littlemac? Where are you headed and whos watchin the bike :)

Anyway, I will have my seat Wednesday. I'll let you know how it rides.

  • Wow did that sound nice! Thanks for your posts! Great info for us to make our decisions. Does this modification help performance and/or gas mileage too? Like suds said, nice area you live in!

  • I haven't gone through a full tank of gas yet so I'm not sure. I was consistently getting 50 mpg before. It will probably go down a little, but we will see. But the performance did go up. Throttle response is awesome and like I said, if you lay on it, it gets loud. I'm here until November, I'm very fortunate. I'm at Tyndall AFB for ground school.

  • Did you use the closed loop or open loop Fi2000R?

  • I went with the open. I just unplugged the O2 sensor and hide it. The Yamaha dealer said it would not make a huge difference either way.

  • I purchased a 950 Tourer this weekend and have been looking online at the Fi2000R and the slashdowns. Thanks for the post. I would like to know what the difference would be with the O2 sensor and the closed loop.

  • Sounds awesome! How much did it set u back? Let us know if u have any problems with the Fi2000R. My bike guy say go Power Comander over Cobra's version. Also like where u live, Water Front? Awesome.

  • HELL to the YES!!

    Congrats bro. Much Much Better!
