The forces involved in this kind of crash are incredibly large. it looks like the copter got snagged and the forces were transferred through the engine to the body of the copter. you can see impact of this if you watch the main blade hub react to the forces. all that force is transferred through the body of the copter and likely the bolts holding the tail on were a weak link and snapped causing the tail to fall off.

If you watch carefully, you can see a thin black vertical cable being pulled into the middle of the main rotor at 00:09 (and 00:27) just before it goes down. He managed to cut it because the same (cut) black cable can be seen dangling around the nose of the helicopter at 18:00
