Mikey, you are amazing! I am new to crocheting and every time I need to know how to do something, your videos are always the most helpful. Thank you for your clear and concise explanations and your close up videos of your work. You're the best!
First I'd like to say GREAT tutorial! I made a scarf as my first work and just tied and cut to change colors, but it never looked as good as I wanted it to and I didn't know what else to do due to the fact that my grandma hadn't really touched base on how to change colors when she was teaching me how to crochet. I have a question, though. When you finish a row you did three chain stitches, but my grandma taught me to do two.. Does only two work just as well?
@ForSureUJelly hello....you can do two or three.... I have seen it done both ways...some patterns actually say to ch 2 when dc and some say 3 ....either one works.....cathy@ the crochet crowd helpdesk :)
I wish I saw this earlier!! I've been crocheting for years and using knots (so messy!!). Even other tutorials not using knots made it look messy. This looks clean, and I'm going to try it out on a few projects.
@tbel1ma the stitch you see here is called a dc or double crochet if you search "Double crochet mikeyssmail" on youtube a tutorial will pop up and you can use it to learn the stitch :) Cathy@ the crochet crowd helpdesk :)
@rabrdi YouTube distorts colours and brightness. The uploaded version is never 100% what is shown when editing. Special editing is done on my end in the recent videos to ensure colours and clarity in video is maintained.
thank you SOOOOOOO much for this! I was trying to figure out how to change colors and you made it so easy! I learned how to use the Knifty Knitter from you and have made tons of hats for not only my family but also the children's hospital. You and bobwilson123 are the BEST!!!! I love you guys!
Im making several ripple blankets with every other line color changes. Is this secure enough to withstand washing and heavy use without the knots? Sorry, it just seems foreign to me, , tx in advance, angie
@angiemicn Yes the way Mikey is showing you with out knots is a secure way to change colors if you feel better making knots then you can but this way works too.....
thankyou so much.. now i can stop making knots in my pieces that i can see all the time lol... this has been so helpful and i actually find your videos the most helpful...
Wonderful! I've always had problems with changing colors. Having watched several videos this was the one that helped me the most. Very easy to understand and learn from. Now I can crochet my tobaggan the way I want it to be done. University Of Tennessee colors because my others are solid orange and had knots in them! Thank you so much keep these helpful videos coming!
@ladywolf9978 This was the second one done of the two of them... because of my partnership... I was scared and extremely nervous. I have a script and that script was really making me nervous... it's easy... I have a time limit of 5 Minutes or less... so I have to get everything done within that time frame... It's a super great challenge for me to speed it up... In fact, the video is spend up by 5% over top of what it was to talk a bit quicker...

Does this only work with double crochet, or can you do it with any stitch and just add the new color with the final yarn over?
xamberbarlowx 1 month ago
@xamberbarlowx I think in the beginning he said it worked for all stitches, and he was only using the double crochet for his example.

Awesome, awesome. I'm about to attempt to crochet an American flag blanket for my dad, and it will look so much better without knots! Thanks!

Thank you! I will try this with my next blanket. Will definately save me some time so I don't have to do a border to hide my knots on the edges. <3
