Wow, I forgot how grand & innovative a track this is! A much better track than "Break My Stride"! Surprising that "The Kid's American" charted much lower, which made it to #33 on the Billboard chart. I haven't heard this in over 25 years! A lost gem from 1984!
Wow, I haven't heard this since it first came out back in '84! Some awesome cars in this video, and I especially love the red convertible, which is a 1967 Pontiac Catalina.
After Michael Jackson died, Matthew Wilder became the greatest artist on the planet. He's so underrated it's not even funny. One day people will realize how awesome he is. THE BEST.
i have been seraching for this song for more than 20 years,,i could remember the melody but i didnt remember the title,,,,,THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!
One of the greatest and most underrated songs of the '80s... It's goddamn perfect... I haven't listened to it for like 20 years... Great song, great clip!
I think this song is a PERFECT example of the best of 80's music....great beat...means nothing....ITS GREAT!!! After the "meaningful" 70's it was just what the doctor ordered.
I remember this song to be much better than it actually is. That is probl why i still hear ""break my stride"" on the radio but never this one. First time i heard this since 1983, a most excellent musical year by the way...
@sondano you know, after listening to it again a couple of times 3 months ago, I'm feeling the song again! Same year as ""uptown girl"" which has kind of the same feel to it.
@boowonder888 80's music was made to be fun and melodic, something to party and sing and dance and have a good time.... 30 years later I admit 80's were soooo much more, a true diamond before the dark that followed ...
and they are taking up two lanes. I could understand changing lanes but they seem to think that if you don't have anyone driving the car you can just take over the road.
though i like break my stride, i have to tip the scales to this one--bouncy catchy summery for me in 1984, not one care in the world, my only concern being five bucks of gas money
I.m not sure if he is jewish, but his real name is Mathew Weiner. (same as Michael Savages last name). He never had a lot of success as a singer after this song, but he produced several other acts like No Doubt, 702, Christina Aguilera Kelly Clarkson Joanna and Miley Cyrus.
Great Song and Video! I have all Songs by Matthew Wilder, (including Remixes)... but i have never seen the Original Video of "Break my Stride! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Esta es una buena canción de Wilder. Sin embargo, en Latinoamérica pegó más la de "Break my stride".

This sounds like 'Neutron Dance' by the Pointer Sisters, which was featured in Bev. Hills Cop

preceded Neutron Dance by about a year. I bought the album and remember when it came out.

RCA released Pointer Sisters 'Neutron Dance' on 1/1/83. The Kids American hit the Top 40 in 1984.
