  • Wow, I forgot how grand & innovative a track this is! A much better track than "Break My Stride"! Surprising that "The Kid's American" charted much lower, which made it to #33 on the Billboard chart. I haven't heard this in over 25 years! A lost gem from 1984!

    Bravo, Matthew Wilder!

  • A forgotten classic for sure from the 80's!

  • buen temazo clasico

  • National Lampoon's Vacation anyone? Or the other Wally World... I mean Wal-Mart Discount City?

  • I had this 45's too! Also "Break My Stride" and The Album "I Don't speak The Language" "Bouncin' Off The Walls" But no Video :(

It's a really great Song, One of the best in my top 3!!!!!

    Thanks for Posting!!!!

  • The maids were cute.

  • @clarkbell White Prince? What are you talking about?

  • Omg, this is wicked!!!! I remember this SOOOO much!!! :)

The 80's was such an incrediable era...!! I am so happy I experienced being a teenager at this time.. Thanks, BUSSON9, for posting this!!

Don't think I've heard this since mid 80's..!

  • Is that a Chapman stick? Wow!

  • @sondano I always wondered what 1 of those was called. ty!

  • Gotta love this 80's song. :-)

  • This era of music is the best era. None of that bullshit Justin Biebier. Says the 15 year old.

  • Hit #33 in Billboard. God bless!

  • great song period

  • incredible classic

  • Wow, I haven't heard this since it first came out back in '84! Some awesome cars in this video, and I especially love the red convertible, which is a 1967 Pontiac Catalina.

    Thanks for posting, busson9!

  • Perfect pop song

  • I love this song! I think it's even better than "Break My Stride!"

  • After Michael Jackson died, Matthew Wilder became the greatest artist on the planet. He's so underrated it's not even funny. One day people will realize how awesome he is. THE BEST.

  • i have been seraching for this song for more than 20 years,,i could remember the melody but i didnt remember the title,,,,,THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the greatest and most underrated songs of the '80s... It's goddamn perfect... I haven't listened to it for like 20 years... Great song, great clip!

  • "Deeper in the Bluejeans," eh?

  • I think this song is a PERFECT example of the best of 80's music....great beat...means nothing....ITS GREAT!!! After the "meaningful" 70's it was just what the doctor ordered.

  • I remember this song to be much better than it actually is. That is probl why i still hear ""break my stride"" on the radio but never this one. First time i heard this since 1983, a most excellent musical year by the way...

  • @boowonder888 Musically this is far more complex and innovative than Break my stride

  • @sondano you know, after listening to it again a couple of times 3 months ago, I'm feeling the song again! Same year as ""uptown girl"" which has kind of the same feel to it.

  • @boowonder888 80's music was made to be fun and melodic, something to party and sing and dance and have a good time.... 30 years later I admit 80's were soooo much more, a true diamond before the dark that followed ...

  • Esta es una buena canción de Wilder. Sin embargo, en Latinoamérica pegó más la de "Break my stride".

  • no es ta mal la cancion, pero me gusta mas su exito" Break my stride"

  • q toskera

  • at 3:00 was it necessary for that car to pass in the middle lane when there is clearly an empty lane to the right side?

  • excelente musica simplemente la mejor !!!! saludos desde chile

  • Check out my man playing the stick bass...

  • LOVE this CLASSIC!!!

  • At 2:02 there are SEVEN people in that whale of a car....but WHO'S DRIVING??!!!!

    LOL!

  • and they are taking up two lanes. I could understand changing lanes but they seem to think that if you don't have anyone driving the car you can just take over the road.

  • I had this on 45. Same album as Break My Stride. How perfectly '80s! God I miss it.

  • This sounds like 'Neutron Dance' by the Pointer Sisters, which was featured in Bev. Hills Cop

  • preceded Neutron Dance by about a year. I bought the album and remember when it came out.

  • RCA released Pointer Sisters 'Neutron Dance' on 1/1/83. The Kids American hit the Top 40 in 1984.

  • great song from the 80's!! Lov

  • though i like break my stride, i have to tip the scales to this one--bouncy catchy summery for me in 1984, not one care in the world, my only concern being five bucks of gas money

  • Not that it matters, but is Matthew Wilder jewish?

  • I.m not sure if he is jewish, but his real name is Mathew Weiner. (same as Michael Savages last name). He never had a lot of success as a singer after this song, but he produced several other acts like No Doubt, 702, Christina Aguilera Kelly Clarkson Joanna and Miley Cyrus.

  • Wow great video!!

80's music are so much better!

    Thanks busson9!!

  • Great Song and Video! I have all Songs by Matthew Wilder, (including Remixes)... but i have never seen the Original Video of "Break my Stride! Thanks a lot for sharing!

  • i don't think there ever was an origional vid for Break My Stride... just the Solid Gold version

  • nowhere near as great as Break My Stride

  • Great seeing the video to this song. Never seen it before, while I know this track for 20 + years !!!!

Better in my opinion then Break my Stride.

    This song is sooooooo good.

    Thanks for posting

  • this song shoulda charted higher.

  • not as catchy as break my stride but this one is ok...this was matthew's 2nd and last top 40 hit in the US making #33 in April 1984...
