I WANT ONE NOW!! :( i have the money but i hate to spend it, knowing that next month it will be 4D with no glasses and 2 dollars off on your next popcorn purchase.
:-/ 1000 lumens looks like 500 lumens with active shutter glasses. I still can't wait for a 3D projector that uses the disposable polarized 3D glasses you get at the theater.
@hippievogelei What I'm talking about is hardly consumer ready. I'm referencing hologram projection they're testing in University of Arizona. I'm not talking about the typical 3D projector
what the hell is cross talk and motion artifacts . for the price i would of liked it to not use shutter glasses but the same "real d " glasses as used in cinemas . maybe the next gen will be . i'd hope the screen is included also
hey uploader i got a question do you have to get the 3d tv to be able to enable it or is it ok if u got the glasses and the transmitter ???? and thanks 4 da vid !!
@MutatedGamer I swear to you I have visited LG and Mitsubishi's booth at CEDIA 2010 and viewed their projectors. They are not as good 3D with 3D as Sony. The clarity is not there. Interestingly enough, the demo they showed at CEDIA 2010 was a prototype only running at 800 lumens, and it did look pretty good. I imagine when the final version ships with 1000 it will be nice.
3D was more sharp and clear in movement with the VPL-VW90ES than anything else I saw that was close to its price range.
@sonyinsider I just hope the price drops eventually on this bad boy. I'm dieing for Sony to pull something thats affordable, since 3D is only pleasurable when the screen is HUGE! Or else, it just looks dinky to people. Make this a 3-4k projector and they'll have a killer sale. But that wont happen for a while ofcourse... -_-
@MutatedGamer buddy it is expensive but my dad bought a tv in 1995 for $3000, a regular 37 inch tv that probably isnt made anymore this is a high end 3D, 3D i emphasize, and the contrast is higher than most projectors and a regular high end projector is 5000 3D is the latest technology out so wait till next year and it will go down, LED tvs last year for a 40 inch were not cheaper than 2000 now its 2000 for a 60 inch 240 hertz 3 000 000 to 1 contrast ratio tv the top of the line
I think we actually pretty much already have holograms except we need the proper vision (glasses) to see them. If you think about aliens, maybe they have incorporated shutter lenses into their eyes or perhaps wear 3d contact lenses, also having multiple displays at different angles to bring the 3d out even more, hence a hologram.
The day we have real holograms will probably be the same time we are half cyborgs anyways so I guess it makes sense. :D
Why does the description say 10K when you can get a better, updated version for less than $4000 like I did?

I paid $5K for my 47" LG LCD HD TV with inbuilt HDD recorder in 2006.
$10k for a projector that displays an image 10 times the size of my TV in glorious 3D sounds like a bargain to me.
I'll take 2 thanks!

3D with glasses? I'd rather support hologram projection technology for advancement. No glasses X)
Also, key peaches ftw Sony
