Wow, your last version is almost like a didge with an ocarina fingering bit. Looks like quite a harmonic range, too, with lots of notes available. I hope you keep developing this and come up with a nice fuild design. :) Awesome work and great sound.
Great innovation. You should have called it the Appendidge, seeing as how there are several appendages (get it?). You have my permission to use that name ;)
Great invention my friend,im amazed...as a didgplayer,im very happy the didge is going in so many directions, and being respected more everyday as a truly musical instrument...thanks to you as well...keep developing, the world apreciates your art...
The big difference here, which leads me to call the opendidge
my invention, is the fact that it consists of multiple tubes that
together form the vibrating air column - hence opendidge.
Traditional brass instruments, or reed instruments in general, consist of just one tube effectively closed at the mouthpiece end and thus have one (variable length) closed tube as the vibrating air column.
If i understand, a volume of air gives not the same result (sound, vibrations...)if it is blowing in just one tube or in multiple tubes, even if the volume of the unique tube is the same as those multiples tubes !!!
It;s genius! I love it!! How about vocals, is is sensitive enough to respond to vocals? I can see my self losing a lot of hours with this little pleasure!

@didgeboy287 Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them.
The design has evolved quite a lot since this model, and the pickup
has also been modified quite a bit. I should really make some new videos.

One more thing, the word append means 'to add onto', right? Your appendidge ADDS extra tubes onto the traditional design of a didge... Yeah??? ;)

@Haarmonics And Appendidge almost sounds like opendidge:)
Thanks for the comments and listening, and appendidge made me smile:))
Maybe we could compromise and call it an apendidge;)
Peace, M

that is so creative !
it can expand the possibilities of the didgeridoo, wich is already a more than the eye can see very complete instrument.

hello
In fact, it seems to me it's a kind of tuba or big trumpet with a didg mouthpiece.
Don't forget the first trumpet in the middle age were 2 or 3 meters long (the trumpets of the himalayan monks are ...)
And now all that wind instruments are always as long but are coiled up.
And the valves allow to shorten or lengthen the longer of the tube
It's the same system for "your invention".
It's a good idea
Bravo

The piezo-electric pickup in the mouthpiece responds really nicely to vocals. I need to do a video to show the vocal response. WIll do soon.
Thanks and glad you like it.
If you stumble across interesting variations please let us all know:) Cheers, Martin

that is very nice. you should improve it stetically and patent it and sell it.
Good work.

eheh awsome :)
is that not too hard for the circular breath ?

Thanks for the comment:)
The playing characteristics are such that for circular breathing the insturments feels and plays very much like a normal didgeridoo.
