  • 5:15 he sounds a little like david schimmer

  • @collz1997 Yes, they should. If they don't, the person could die.

  • @blackdeath78765-you mean, william shatner!

  • when i was younger, i passed out in music class from not eating enough and not drinking anything that morning. So (lucky me) it was the student teachers day and when i wake up i find him in my face shocked. He never looked at me the some way ever again. But i had no idea what the heck happened and a had a sore arm from falling off the top of the riser when i passed out. But it was embarrassing being wheeled in a wheelchair down the hall and to my moms car then home. ALWAYS EAT BREAKFAST, KIDS!!!

  • Does anyone know how Andre's doing now? He could probably have a pace maker now that would help him.

  • couldn't one of the kids get their cell phone out and call it?

  • @melodie973 Kids didn't have cell phones in the early 1990s!

  • this happened on my brother's birthday!!

please tell me what the teacher says 3:38

  • @inuyashaslvr he said "he might not talk out of my class"

  • @cutiehaley walk*

  • If you guys want it back on TV... its probably not going to happen because not a lot of people watch it or show interest thats the way it is in life sometimes, sometime a product or a TV show seems popular at first may just be out and people stop watching or gaining any audience. But i got a solution to all this. Anyone heard of the hobby police radio scanning? well the other day i was listening to emergency vehicle feeds and its really interesting. It isnt really expensive just look online.

  • @okpapereat I have an app on my phone for it, I fall asleep listening to it. I hate they don't have my immediate area anymore but they have cities I know on it which is still a little interesting

  • @msbforever have you heard of radioreference? they have so many feeds, from usa, canada, and other countries as well. Everything to emergency radio to police and fire.

  • This is a fantastic episode that shows a great bond between a teacher and a student. Mr. Pezner is a real hero and seeing his emotions just shows how deeply he cares.

Although Andre can't do alot of physical activites (biking, karate, basketball) maybe he could umpire baseball. There is a great state association in New York State (NYSBUA) that has chapters all over the state. If he was given medical clearance maybe he could umpire.

  • at this camp i went to, there's this game where u run A LOT, and i mean that. i of corse didnt feel like doing it, but 1 of my friends did, and she broke her wrist. there was also one guy who passed out. shame, shame.

  • anyone else watched this because they saw track and field in the name, and they're in track and field?

  • @evian1230 no

  • What Shatner says in the intro is a life lesson for anyone..a single person can touch our life forever.

  • This segment reminds me or reminds all of us that a teacher can probably be the greatest friend one can ever have.

Have any of us had a Mr Pezner type teacher that inspired us to be the best we can be???

What Andre said "Me and Mr Pezner our like brothers" realy struck me. Never have I heard anyone say that about a teacher because I always thought it was innapropriate for a student to say such a nice thing about their teacher. I mean aren't those things supposed to be private....

  • @happy7117

    cont.

But what Andre says that he and Mr Pezner are like brothers can mean they are very great dear friends because this incident changed their lives forever. It made Mr Pezner realize how much he cares about another person.

For me, my Mr Pezner type person was my 7th grade math teacher. He did not save my life, but he forever changed it.

A teacher can be a dear friend to anybody and this segment proves it.

  • I don't get it Mr. Pezner needed to start CPR right away and not wait. I just got certified with the AHA in CPR/AED and they say you start CPR right away as you cannot hurt the patient if you start it right away, What kind of training did Mr Pezner have you don't just keep breathing in after not feeling a pulse no chest compressions. I am not sure what raining he had.

  • @travelplus1 actually , what you're talking about is the 2010 AHA guidelines. the guidelines change roughly every five years (dependent on new studies and research). seeing that this video is circa early 1990's, i'm guessing he was following the guidelines which he was taught during that time.

  • @travelplus1 I have done actual CPR on patients as a Registered Nurse in the hospital also in the street enviroment. Over the past 40 years theories on the best way to do CPR has changed about every 4-5 years. Now in 2011 the theory is to start chest compressions first then breathe. I have also experienced people who were trained in CPR but still had difficulty because it was their first time The sight of one not breathing and no heart beat became reality to them. I calmly encouraged them

  • @JimmePaul I'm a nurse, but I wasn't prepared for how difficult it is to give mouth to mouth. If the person's mouth is bigger than your own it can be hard to make the seal and pinch the nose closed at the same time. Of course, in this situation I wasn't at work and did not have access to any medical equipment.

  • I'm so glad that this P.E. teacher goes out of his way to make sure that all of his students are well and take care of themselves. He sure has a love and passion for what he's doing--compared to some of the P.E. teachers that were around when I was in middle/high school who just didn't give a s**t about the students. It was completely black and white situation back then. I wish he was my teacher.

  • @snootzie78

Maybe you don't have a teacher like Mr Pezner, but maybe you have a friend his age who is just like him....

A teacher does not need to save a life to be the best in the world like Mr P, but rather to inspire their students in some other way....

  • ok, really not trying to be like... pervy but, what about as an adult.. i wonder if he's aloud to have sex?

  • All teacher should know CPR

  • @collz1997 All *people should know CPR..

  • That's surprising that the doctor is doing the Echocardiogram. When I worked in Cardiology, the doctors never did the tests, they only read the results and did procedures like balloon angioplasty.

  • how do yall kno that he died

  • I miss you Andre! Rest in peace............It's horrible that you were taken from us at the age of 18.

  • Comment removed

  • @ranasxoxo I didn't know Andre died. How did he die? Was he sick or something?

  • @ZMommaL56 He died from his heart problem. He was helping a friend push his car that broke down, and he just fell and passed away..........

  • @ranasxoxo Oh how sad. I didn't know his heart condition killed him.

  • Very moving :(

  • What a faggot

  • @scottspeaksfuckinsux you have enlightened my mind, my god, if more people wrote as eloquently as yourself the world would be a better place, the sheer poetry of your comment... it just puts a tear in my eye. You are a scholar, and we all bow down to your grammatical skills.

  • im not worried, eventually you'll piss someone off enough they will bite down and ruin your chances for reproduction. and thank god for that.

  • does anyone remember the episode were the boy is running and runs into kitchen and accidently runs into a knife

  • @styx4ever1963

    its called sibbling stabbing

  • Alright thanks:)

  • What is a P.E. class ?

  • @Frozenflame3000 GYM class

  • @Frozenflame3000 - Physical education.

  • @japashakirah Thnx :)

  • @Frozenflame3000 physical education

  • when i was 10 i was in gym class and all of a sudden i started breathing really heavy and got lightheaded and no one in my school had every seen anything like this so they let me rest and it let up.....if i were 2 work myself 2 hard it would start back up (it was so bad once i almost blacked out) and eventually my parents took me to see a cardioligest and i was diagnosed with white wolf parkisons disorder and they burned my extra pathway and im 16 now and happy....

  • This is the worst fear of any teacher

  • fukin fake............!!

  • Hey you idiot

How dare you say it is fake.

  • @osanama11 Well I fucked your ass and it was really stinky. i had to use extra special mask to prevent myself from fainting. Don`t you ever wash your asssss?

  • @Yoesel72 same here whn i fuk ur mom and sis :D

    hahaha sshole...fukin asshole...

and ur grand mom got sum hairy ass pls ask her to shave n fuk u dad asshole :D

    son of whore :D

  • and i thought cardiac arrest was only for old people..i was so wrong

  • @loveybumblebee554 no, unfortunately a lot of young people have died from this too.

  • oh wow! I had a similar heart condition almost like that! I had Supra Ventricular Tachycardia. Its an irregular heartbeat just like Andre. Although I don't think my condition was as serious.

  • @LlCoolT23 I had SVT as well. SVT isn't as serious as what Andre had, but still not the best thing to have. I'm cured though, I had a catheter ablation to fix mine.

  • Oh my god this seriously happened to one of my friends last week!

I watch rescue 911 everyday I haven't missed a day yet and I thought this one looked cool. My friend Abigale went face first into the ground and my PE teacher was in the gym talking to someone. I told someone to go run and get the teacher. Because of rescue 911 I somewhat know how to do CPR so I had to do it on her! I love her! She is alive now because of me! The scary thing is is we were on the track and we are both 13!CREEPY!

  • Congratulations to you

  • @Ladibug0123 how is it to save a friend

  • @lura32000 well it is really hard when you are saving them because you have way too many mixed emotions going through your head. But when they are saved and you know they are going to be okay it is amazing! It is almost like they can never stop smiling and hugging you after you do something like that! :)

  • @Ladibug0123 don`t lie tooo much

  • @Ladibug0123 And that's my proof that you don't have to know the most up-to-date CPR techniques and it can STILL save their life.

Nobody does CPR even remotely like they did it when 911 was popular, the AHA changed all the rules in 2005 and again in 2007.

I hate when 'health care professionals' get all technical and picky about some things.

When the person's in cardiac arrest, doing SOMETHING is better than nothing.

  • @Ladibug0123 How did she do that?

  • @Ladibug0123 uhhh... but how is it creepy when you guys are both 13

  • What was wrong with her? Meaning why did she fall down?

  • @PrincessEli82 it was a boy, his name was Andre......he had a serious heart arrhythmia

  • @stinabinababe I was talking to someone else.

  • @Ladibug0123 What happened to Abigail?

  • @Ladibug0123 how is that creepy????

  • @Ladibug0123 How did Abigale collapse? Was she all right?

  • Like that guy downplays a seizure...

  • Comment removed

  • At 1:20, Andre collapses. Some students are laughing.

  • Yeah, you're an idiot. They were ahead of the pack and hadn't realized what had happened yet. They were likely chatting, telling a joke, or engaging in otherwise normal juvenile behavior. Way to make something out of nothing.

  • Sorry about that.

  • I agree. The kids thought he was fooling around when he fell- they had not realized yet that he was in serious trouble.

  • @Modor20 I'm sorry.

  • Today, Andre is 30 years old and I wonder if he still has this heart problem. It must be hard for him not to exercise.

  • I heard he actually died last year i dont if its true or not though

  • You mean Andre's dead now? How sad. Maybe it was his heart condition.

  • @TTBurger88 Did you say Andre died from this heart problem?

  • did you see those two other teachers just joggin out there like "ah its just another passed out kid" but then when the gym teacher said he had no palse...they sped their asses up lmao

  • Comment removed

  • just because you stop breathing doesn't mean his heart stopped. They did not say his heart stopped, only that the gym teacher himself could not find one.

  • I can't stand HIPAA. When I had my gallbladder removed, they wouldn't tell my friend-who was already a known emergency contact for me-how I was doing after surgery.

I had half a mind to sue them, b/c her name is on their stupid chart as Emergency Contact, and I told them before I went into surgery she could talk to me.

I settled for calling the person in charge of the unit on which the secretary in question worked that day.

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA

  • I feel so bad for the PE teacher! He was just having a regular day when he has to save a kid from death. He was freaking out because he didn't really know what to do or what was wrong especially at 3:40 you can hear it in his voice! very sad!

  • Man, poor guy.

  • Why dont i get to have PE out side?

I'm going to 8 Th Grade

  • One reason this show can never be aired again is because of HIPAA. Around 6 minutes they stated what was wrong with him. That cannot be done under HIPAA.

In fact, as a Paramedic, I cannot even tell a wife what happened to her husband unless he signs a paper to release the information. Patient confidentiality has always been the standard, but HIPAA takes it above and beyond anything reasonable.

  • They would have had to get permission then too. Doctors were never allowed to talk about a patient's medical condition without the patient's, or guardian's, consent.

I tried to get my sister to sign one of those papers beforehand, so I could get information about her. She has brain damage from trauma and no family where she lives.

I couldn't get her to understand what I meant, so I gave up.

    She has retro-amnesia.

  • so if your a paramedic, than why do you have WHISKEY in your youtube name???

  • Whiskey = Military phonetic for W.

  • Are you in the military? My brother's in the service-he never stops going to Iraq and Afghanistan. He's there now, but he used to be at Ft. Hood.

They have a Delta Force at Ft. Hood. My friend was in Delta.

  • Who says EMT's and Doctors can't drink? Sober on the job, sober in training, sober on call, free time, who cares?

  • because they may be called out on an emergency. if you had to be called out while you were trashed at the bar...

But I also sort of agree. Forcing people not to drink... it would be like living in the USSR. I would kill myself if I couldn't drink.

  • I'm an EMT and I drink. You can't get called to an emergency if you're not on call and if you're drinking or drunk when you're not on call no one cares.

  • DFW: They could still air the show if the patients consent. The producers got consents from people when this show was on back in the 80s abd 90s, and the same thing still works under HIPAA.

  • Just a few little questions or wonderings:

    1. I wonder if Mr P is still a gym teacher??

    2. Is Pezner spelled Pesner or Pezner??

    3. I am from Syracuse, NY. How far is Nyek from Syracuse?

  • the students are like running for like 5 minutes

  • the blonde kid shouldn't have walked away. he should've helped. he was his friend. gosh. the teacher was left there all alone.

  • The teacher was the one who told EVERYONE to get help.

  • I wonder if he would qualify for a defibulator. Did they have them then? it was like 15 years ago. This is also an example of why we need AED's in all public places

  • DFW airport originally turned down AEDs when they first came out. Someone convinced them to install like 3 for the entire airport as a pilot program. While they were being put up, someone had a heart attack and nearly died right there where one was being installed. They used it, the person lived and the green light was immediately given to install almost 100 thru out the airport.

  • BeatleMoe, can you remove his post please?

  • It's gone.

  • @OneSkiWonder why?

  • @2crazypop Why what? Sorry, can't figure out which one of my posts you're responding to.

  • I think that the gym teacher is absoultely clueless. Andre is in cardiac arrest and the gym teacher thinks at the beginning that it is just a ordinary seizure and doesn't think much of it.

  • He didn't know though at first? After all, these kind of things rarely happen. My first thought would have been an asthma attack or something, as that is far more common.

  • I remember gym in high school and it sucked

  • What does P.E. mean

  • Phys Ed , Physical Education, or Gym

  • Ouch. Either Nick's or Andre's car got busted by the monster truck.

Never knew a RC monster truck could do so much damage.

    No more RC car..

Anyone else miss remote controlled cars like me? They were so fun back in the day

  • 8:29 looks like a cool segment

  • 8:30 is what I mean.

  • my class is the only class in the whole skl that doesnt get p.e cuz were music exellence and we apparently dont get sport cuz we do music instead

  • Why the hell didn't that P.E. teacher do compressions? The whole time he's just doing mouth-to-mouth.

  • maybe that's all he knew how to do. i could be wrong but that's the only explanation i could find

  • see what p.e does to u i say they take gym out of the schools! lol

  • couldn't he get a new heart

  • @killman369547 It would take a lot of time and money to get a new heart transplant these days.

  • the next segment by people's comments here is what I consider an EPIC CAR CRASH SEGMENT lol.

  • Boy the accident reminds me of the "Motor vehicle accident" in the 1-5 seasons of the Rescue 911 intro.

  • glad to see that andre made it. gym teacher made it possible for him to stay alive. awesome guy. however, its a bummer that andre can't do anymore physical activities.

  • fyi the background when the Announcer says "next" is "Everglades save" #315

  • holy s***, i live in rockland county, nyack is like 10 minutes from me!

  • what do u want a cookie?

  • I'll have one!

  • It seems if that happened to me, my PE teacher would just come over and bark at me for not getting up- I think I'd be dead!

  • That would suck! NOt being able to exercise AT ALL. Shit. How do you stay healthy?

  • Eat lots of healthy food. And drink plenty of water and youd stay healthy enough. Walkin is a sign of exercise so he is getting some.

  • Haha! What?

  • OMG i culdnt live without sport. I cycle, run, rugby, football, gold, ice skate. And i wuldnt live without these

  • shut up

  • As a distance runner myself, I'd sooner die than live with the burden of not being able to play sports ever again like Andre.

  • theres more to life than sport but i would still be very depressed if that happened to me

  • you never really think that a teacher can be your hero

  • I guess Mr Pezner is an exception.

I don't think a hero has to be one to save another one's life.

A hero can maybe be a role model.

  • My PE TEACHA SAVED MY LIFE hes my hero.

  • Imagine if this episode only had 1 segment and it lasted the whole hour??

Has there ever been a 1 segment episode lasting the full hour??

The only episode with one segment was the bomb under the jeep but that was only a 15 minute filler untill the news came on.

  • I know the next segment is like 45 minutes, but anyone know what it's about??

And why the heck is it so long??

A 2 segment episode lasting the usual hour is very unusual.

  • IIRC, it began with a devastating car accident and one of the victims died. Then it turns into an organ donation search. Finally, the organ transplants take place.

  • It was a segment of multiple stories centering around the donor. It was the only episode to do such a segment, but I enjoyed it, though it does run too long.

  • shut up

  • How do you keep from getting fat and extremely out of shape if you can't work out???

  • This also happened to my 13 year old cousin several years ago. However, he was not so fortunate...he did not survive. Two other family members later discovered they also had heart defects that were treated, and they are all right, but it sure came at a high price. Rest in peace, Michael. We love you.

  • i'm really sorry that has happened to you takkjk, we recently had a sophmore in my school die of cancer so i know how you feel

  • :'( That's sad...

  • i know, it was hard on the sophomores as well

  • I wonder, would the other students of had a study hall for that P.E. period since Mr Pezner was trying to save Andre...??

The kids were told to run off the field to get help, but what do you think they all did after they told the office secretary???

I am guessing by the time the students were told to run off the field by Mr. Pezner, class had ended.

  • What was Mr Pezner's feeling when the other student was sitting next to him? How did he give the instructions to the students in a calm way? Was it hard for Mr. Pezner to give the instrctions under stress

  • I imagine he was choked up with emotion, but I think he had to stay strong so he could relay those important directions to the other students.

If Mr. Pezner broke down, the other students might have also.

I think Mr. Pezner was doing what any gym teacher had to do in a situation like that: save this boy's life.

  • Compare :41, and 7:50.

    Mr Pezner's beard looks different.

Were his interview parts filmed on different days??

  • Since this is a gym class segment and probably the only one on 911, anyone have a favorite unit in gym??

We did flag football just like Andre!!!!

The flag football unit lasted 9 gym class days.

We did a volleyball unit, softball unit, swim unit, basketball unit.

More units we did that I can't remember. I graduated HS in 1998!

  • "A single person can touch the lives in others in ways we never imagined"

A perfect quote summarizing the heroic deed Mr Pezner did to save Andre!!

Since this episode had only 2 segments, I believe Shatner uses this quote in reference to Mr. Pezner saving Andre..
