  • Thanks TCG guy! I have been wanting to learn this on the piano for awhile - there's a woman I am falling for and yeah her name is Melissa ... so it will be cool to be able to play this for her down the road. Thanks again for the nice clear instruction - very helpful ... I will be back.

  • Intro: E, F#m11/E, Emaj7

  • Mojo what is that little picking pattern on melissa

  • You are a very good singer as well. :)

  • I just discovered your Site......... thank you. This is great stuff

  • Thanks! I am psyched that you see value in the site. Makes me day :)

  • Great lessons lesson tried it a year a ago I FAILED tryed it now awesome 5stars

  • To all the haters out there this one video from Mojo has 45,412 hits and this is just ONE of his posts. This guy is genuine and humble and people seem to like what he does. If you don't that is fine but no need for rudeness. State your criticism in a dignified manner and move on. AND YES I LOVE THE LOLLIPOP as I have a young daughter of my own!

  • That's a great "balloon thing" and its not silly brother! I just learned this song...also one of my all time faves.

  • good lesson, thanks. great song!

  • Hats off to all of the proud daddies like me . I've got creations made by my two little princesses all over my office walls . Any help on the solos for Melissa ?

  • I am a dad also - The fact that you put that on your guitar just makes you that much cooler in my opinion.

  • Thanks for the kind words!

  • Is it the same to play on an acoustic?

  • I happen to like the balloon thing also!

  • LMAO!!!

  • Three seconds and I knew that you sucked... Just sayin there BUDDY....

  • You are quite the insightful feller.

  • @cholt68 fuck you

  • greg actually doesnt play the f#m and the g#m like that hes plays it in an open chord he keeps the e shape chord and moves it up2 frets but keeps his pointer finger on the second fret and same for g#m except the pointer is on the 4th fret and ur other 2 fingers on the 6th fret

  • I believe he uses a G#m/E and an F#m/E

  • I really appreciate what you do but you are playing this song wrong. Instead of Bar chords after the e chord it is played with the e string open. Ive seen the allman bros. do it many times and it is one of the first songs I learned to play. Its called F#11/E or finger positions 044200. Try it. It sounds a lot better. Then you slide your fingers up to Emaj7 or finger position 066400. Just thought you would like to know.

  • You just taught me how to play this song. I feel as if I can actually play guitar now. Thank you, I have learned so much from your videos. Please keep making them!

  • Thanks for the kind comment.. you made my day :)

  • i always think this song is taught with maybe 6 cords that sound higher than i was taught, but nice job. I cant sing that well!

  • Thanks for taking the time to post these. I finally got tired of trying to figure out the basic chordage of Melissa by ear and did a search..

  • Excellent lesson.

  • Nice job. What is the tuning for this song. there seems to be much disagreement on this issue. thanks, edley

  • Nice job! I like your version, especially that little riff at 7:o4: duane would have played that! I like to put in lead fills here and there too! After "no on hears his lonely sigh" I go: D,C#,D,f#,e...try it sometime....Also I think you should leave out showing the shapes, that's for strictly beginners! This is not a beginner tune..your beyond that! Your good!

  • Thanks :)

  • why do you call it a jonny cash finger this is my song thanks love Melissa

  • Run a Google image search of Johnny cash, and it will come to ya ;)

  • Mojo,

Thanks for the great lesson, it really helped me with a song I have always loved. What is the finger picking patern after the verse run to see Melissa ????

    Thanks

  • Dude, your wrong about the chords in the very beginning. It is just E, then slide the E up two frets, then another two frets....I couldnt stand watching the rest because you have the intro wrong....peace be with you.

  • Sorry to disagree with you, and sorry that it was so unbearable that you "couldn't stand watching the rest".

  • Dude, is that a lollipop stuck to you tele or is it a rear view mirror?

  • I haven't watched the video since it was posted, but I do seem to recall explaining that my son made this little artwork thing and gave it to me, and I since I love him so much, I decided to stick it there for fun.

  • you tell him mojo. these guys either dont pay attention to your vids. or they just feel the need to act tough/cute on the internet. family is the most important thing in this world, followed closely by tele's hahah! keep rockin'

  • That was great,

I have a sneaky feeling that one or twe of those chords are out maybe i need to listen to the song again.......

  • We all make errors threechord. So are you a music teacher or the likes?

  • Nope, I am an ethical hacker. I just do this for fun :)

  • No, I'm sorry. It still sounds great and a lot better than I could ever play it.

  • The chart i'm looking at has F#m. Thanks for the video.

  • wrong chords dude. F#m7 to Emaj7. Should get it right if you post a lesson.

  • Sorry you didn't like it...

  • No, I'm sorry. It still sounds great and a lot better than I could ever play it.

  • Great job man, i love this song

  • Thanks :)

  • You are a GREAT teacher. An awful lot of these on-line lessons are too hard for me to follow. You give just the right amount of help. I particularly appreciate the strum pattern help, as I am sort of rhythmically challenged. Thanks a bunch!

  • I am so glad I can be of help. Thanks for the comment :)

  • oh forgot tell your son I would also like one for my guitar too.....

  • ha ha, that can be worked out :D

  • Great song, nice chord arrangement. That was nice to include your sons art work, tell him good job. your carr amp sounded good, whats the price range on those? Thanks again

  • Yeah, my son is a sweet heart. Actually, my three kids are sweethearts :) It was fun to have him pop in and give me his little project.

The Carr amp is a monster. They're not cheap, but they are fantastic. I feel bad because I play my Dr Z almost exclusively, and so this amp sits there, basically unplayed. So I decided to take it out for this video :)

  • MoJo love the lessons --great work & style

    keep -em coming

  • Thanks! Working on the next one as I type this :)q

  • Thank you a great song good job

  • That was a fast comment, I just uploaded this thing :)
