Some people just can't hear! All great differences in tone. I mix live sound for a living and I appreciate the differences in tone and a guitarist that can find that tone that makes the song pop. I love the Thinline and all the rest I've heard. And it looks like a Super Reverb sitting back there, one of the best sounding amps in the world. Keep on rockin!
hey, u can't expect a big difference on guitars with a blues player always with Vibrolux Reverb and Okko Diablo, he's showing them cause is selling them
You can tell he doesn't change is overdrive setting much from video to video, But that doesn't mean each guitar doesn't sound unique. I can tell the differences in sound between the guitars he plays with the same od. It all sounds great. Keep playing!
@davidriggs1955 i have a perfect, amazing arctic white standard tele i got for 350. but i dont go for the whole squealy high pitched albert kind style overdrive i like playing with effects on clean.
hey man, im not trying to criticize you or your playing, which is fantastic. but im starting to notice most of your guitars sound about the same through whatever overdrive you use. you should use a different tone and play a different style though each guitar to really show what its about.
@gibbie31 true that!!! anyways.. I've heard of a saying when a guitar player let's say SRV, is going to use and grab Jimi Hendrix's gear.. he will always sound like SRV and not Jimi, even though he's using Jimi Hendrix's gears..
anyways just saying..
GregsGuitars has his personal tone embedded to all his guitars, even if its a tele or any other guitars!
@MrGuitarman187 same as any guitar ... more mids less ambiant noise and 60 cycle hum and a bit more output and in my opinion better looks ... its just fender uses their own pickups instead of someone elses and their humbuckers are still slightly twangy as kinda works with the fender style ... fender just adds their own touch to it but there are always some differences that appear between any single coil vs any humbucker
@MrGuitarman187 Tele (bridge) single coils are bright and twangy, these wide range humbuckers (magnets protrude 3 in line on opposite ends of the cover instead of 6 in line) are more les paul like... warmer and sweeter, than traditional tele pups.
in the old days, the fender dual coil p.u.,s units were the same size as gibson's. the problem with off-sized p.u.'s like these is aftermarket stuff won't fit right. i have no experience with these p.u.'s, but the overall guitar quality is as good as the american made from what i'm seeing.
that is great tone coming out of that mexico tele!! Great technique too certainly helps! I have the 69' with the single coil and i'm not a fan of the single coils. Thinking about trading it for one of these with the humbuckers.
sorry guys but it breaks my heart to see all of these imported guitars....can't we put pressure on this American Company to bring all of their manufacturing jobs back to America! I believe that if we as consumers demanded it then we could make a change.
Globalism sucks! I know all about the high prices of American products but you can't convince me that during this recession these are jobs that Americans wont do. We have power as consumers....we have to speak up. money talks!
haha....I made the same comment on another one of his clips. I think it goes to show just how much the amp and especially your own touch/fingers have to do with tone.
@PippoBlues93 being an owner of the same model guitar, i say yes, espicialy if you the neck pickup on jazzy type songs, gives you a deap sound that i bet no other guitar but that one can do! hope this was helpful!
@GregsGuitars how about the sustain and the sturdiness? i heard the tele '72 deluxe(which is built almost the same way with the same pickups) is a tank and sustains pretty well.. and how do you find the wide range humbuckers?
@MisterRaintown lol i have one to , but mine its sunburst i buy fir 400 euros with 3 months in musicstore it custs 800 euros new lool it sounds really good for a mexican version and is the sound who it matters :P
Hi Gregsguitar! I've recently discovered that those wide range humbuckers can turn into two single coils and they sound even better!! ": I can switch from single coil to humbacker while playing! Interesting sound! trust me!
do you think that these humbakers are, let's say, high quality ones, or that I could find a better Seymour Duncan version of them? I ask you that because a dear friend of mine wants to buy this guitar and asked me about that. Ciao
@danlovesnan First of all, he may like the stock pu's. I have the same guitar and it's the only guitar of mine that still has its stock pu's. Secondly, the original 72 had CuNiFe magnets, the repro has AlNiCo. Oddly, the WR pickup is larger than the average humbuggy so standard replacements won't work without a new pick-guard. You could go try and find a vintage CuNiFe replacement (for big $) or Lollar has an aftermarket replacement, but it's AlNiCo 5 not CuNiFe.
i see, well, on my mexico tele 72 I put a "switch" so to have both single coil (that for me sounds better) and humbacker...it still sounded a bit cold according to my ear so I replaced it with a 59 humbacker but the guitar looks funny now because that humbacker is smaller than the original one. It sounds better though, at least according to my personal taste.
I woulda liked to hear the pickups without the overdrive but at least i know they sound real nice with that particular overdrive. A lot of people knock those mexico pickups but i have em in my 1971 Thinline Deluxe and they sound great!!
I also have telecaster thinline ... congratulations you have a really nice sound...
