His drums sound tremendous here...his DWs never sounded this good ever again. Listen to that snare and those Zildjians...so crisp. Can't stand the crap he has now.
Been listening to Rush since I was a kid and Counterparts is easily my favorite album. It was the perfect fusion of old school guitar rock of the 70's and 80's Rush and the tech rock of the 90's. I am sure glad Alex won the argument of the direction of the band before they produced this classic song and album.
VERY odd song to pick out and do.... I was very supprised.... And this was before they played Bankock.... Can't belive they waited so long for that one

Listen to that snare compared to the one he uses now. Night and Day. This snare blows away the one he is currently using and you can't replace the Wuhan sound of the china either. Just compare it to the Paragon crap he is using now. What the fuck is wrong with their ears?
I actually think it's alex real voice singing hear and iut sounds Ok to me why oh why can';t they leave the tsamples of a thousand geddy's harmonizing with himself off the live performances
they did play limbo on the counterparts tour in atlanta... there are plenty of other greta songs that would be awesome live, such as dog years. and for some reason, i dont think they have played a farewell to kings in over 2 decades... that song needs to be played again live.
@imjotoboy1 I think you meant they played Limbo at the Omni show for the Test For Echo tour since that song was out on the Counterparts tour or even released yet ;)
Wow, if I counted right, that's 47 songs that Rush has never performed live (not counting the covers from Feedback). I recall seeing an interview where Alex spoke of doing a tour where all they played were songs not played before. I'm hoping to hold them to it! Nose to the Grinding Wheel! It's a set list made in Heaven! I might even let them take TWO intermissions and three encores! Should even add a little bit of Victor and Favourite Headache in there to make it an even 50! A work in progress?
Oh, sorry! I'm afraid that great classic (Everyday Glory) was sadly never performed live. In fact, this tour was the first that Between Sun & Moon was played. Who knows what we may see in the future? There are a lot of songs in the vault that are begging to come out!
According to the Power Windows site, the following songs have never been performed live:
Take a Friend, Before and After, Rivendell, Making Memories, I Think I'm Going Bald, The Fountain of Lamneth, Lessons, Tears, Madrigal, Different Strings, Losing It, Emotion Detector, Open Secrets, Second Nature, Tai Shan, High Water, Chain Lightning, Presto, Anagram, Red Tide, Hand Over Fist, Available Light, Face Up, The Big Wheel, Heresy, Neurotica, You Bet Your Life
Cut to the Chase, Alien Shore, The Speed of Love, Everyday Glory, The Color of Right, Totem, Dog Years, Carve Away the Stone, Peaceable Kingdom, The Stars Look Down, How It Is, Vapor Trail, Sweet Miracle, Nocturne, Freeze, Out of the Cradle, Faithless, Bravest Face, Good News First, We Hold On
Out of that list... the ones I'd most like to see done live: Making Memories (would work well unplugged) I Think I'm Going Bald Lessons Open Secrets High Water Chain Lightning Face Up Neurotica You Bet Your Life Cut to the Chase The Color of Right Freeze (as part of the full "Fear" quadrilogy)
Limbo was played on at least some shows on the Test for Echo tour (In Ghost Rider, Neil quotes from his tour diary for a Boise? show with something like "atrocious intro to Limbo").

This songs rocks live. I was so mad that that they ignored it on the Counterparts and Test For Echo tours, but broke it out for Vapor Trails tour.

was this the tribute for John Entwistle???
GrungeRocker1000 1 year ago
@GrungeRocker1000 No it's not. The tribute to John Entwistle was done at the Hartford, Conn. show in June 2002.
However, if you buy the "Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage" DVD, they have that performance as a special feature! :D

Ohhh okay thanks 4 that! :)
so does he credit John Entwistle on there at all ??
GrungeRocker1000 1 year ago
@GrungeRocker1000 Yes he certainly does! :D In fact, he says "This song is for a fallen brother, John Entwistle. He will rock on!"
You should get the DVD, it is VERY awesome. The special features are so much fun!
