  • @davidezell I recall reading on the Game Show Forum a post by Norm Blumenthal, the show's producer, and he says that many of the episodes were only held for a short time for legal reasons, then discarded. The cost of storing 2" quad videotape was quite expensive according to him. Now, if any or all episodes exist on kinescope, that would be a different matter.

  • I've been informed that a Barry & Enright-produced "Concentration" episode with Jack Barry does partly exist, but the kinescope film is so badly damaged and decayed it's probably beyond restoration. A pity. Many once and future B & E staffers remained with "Concentration" and later joined "The Joker's Wild." There were certain parallels in the style of the two productions, each having head-to-head contestants, and both had great play-at-home elements, a B & E hallmark.

  • That marimba solo at the end was pretty spiffy.

  • I'm surprised they didn't use 2 loafs of bread for the 'Loves"

  • I used to work for a moving company -- my, how the trucks have grown!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting the full episode! :-)

  • Thanx for putting up the rest of this show! The closing is familiar, it's the closing used throughout the show's run. The version heard here is slightly different than the one I'm used to. A good example of that is on the close of the 1963 Concentration Challenge of Champions ep posted elsewhere on this site.

Also notice that there were no closing credits. NBC didn't list them. Interesting.

Now if only NBC weren't so stingy and would just release the rest of these eps!!

  • @beentheredonetht There may not be much to release. Programming from this period was rarely, if ever, archived. Much later in broadcast history did people begin to realize the value (primarily financial from their perspecitve) in having reruns.

  • @davidezell It has been confirmed that the 1958-73 series is intact and held by NBC. As for your second point, Goodson-Todman was more archive-minded than others.

  • @WarioBarker88 Now if only some of NBC's other shows could be found: "Baffle", "Jeopardy!", "The Who, What or Where Game", "Three on a Match", the first run of "High Rollers"...I live in hope. *sigh*

  • @WarioBarker88 All NBC episodes of the original "Concentration" intact and held by NBC? I'm not sure whether to believe it, but if I did, then the episodes must have been buried in the same Kansas salt mine with many of the old Johnny Carson tapes.
