i like the look of that excercise and im going to go and do it now! what are the benefits of it? and i noticed in the comments about how its totaly different with a fixed barbell. how is this?
@ded56t3 It is easier to teach and to learn than a full Snatch, you can teach this to a small group in 10 minutes. Also with the clean grip, you can add it into a complex. The jump is to make it more "athletic" and less efficient, which is the opposite of what you would want in a true o-lift but perfect for conditioning. A fixed barbell will feel like it's gonna rip your hands off at the wrists... but in a good way. I do this normally with either a globe barbell or sandbags.
That location is closed. The kung fu class is training at Tao Of Texas, which is across the street from the old location. The strength training is done at my home gym.
@h4d193 absolutely, I even have the name in the video, however I remember doing a video with the Georgia song back then, must have been confused. Either way, Georgia is a better song anyway, imo.
i really really like that you use this type of music on your vids. almost all strongman vids i see have horrible shouting metal 'music' on them. the songs really reflect that whilst you are training very hard, and doing long lost feats of functional strength, you are having FUN too! so ur vids are fun to watch also. :)
Great exercise :) keep those arms straight right up until AFTER you explode... you'll transfer more power over that way and the bar'll fly up even faster!
I know that we often hear that Wing Chun does not use strength, but these exercises seem very ballistic which I think would be a great addition to WC training. Thanks for posting.
quality video and very good choice of music! :)

The oldtimers did this with fixed barbells though didnt they? Makes it a completely different lift.
