I personally think that Cam is a better player and athlete than Tebow. Yeah they both are running quarterbacks but Cam has took over some games by passing the ball. When have you seen Tebow do that? Christians often get seen as weak, losers, not fitting in with the "cool crowd". It's great to see a college athlete (especially one who attends a university in a city well known for its collegiate party atmosphere ) who can be outstanding in his sport, and boldly maintain a reputation as a follower of Jesus Christ. I hope it encourages other Christians to take a stand against the easy way, and share Christ with the world.

Tebow is great, but I'm of people treating him like a god. I followed LSU football my entire life. I've seen players step up and lead the same way he did. I've seen guys tear themselves to pieces for their teammates. And we best him in '07 with some of those great leaders we had in Matt Flyn, Jacob Hester, Glen Dorsey, Darry Beckwith, Ali Highsmith, Craig Steltz, Herman Johnson, Tyson Jackson, the list goes on.

Most of his rushing touchdowns were short distance but he got more rushing touchdowns then most running backs in the NCAA that year. He went 25th overall because he has alot of potential. godzilla1077, I agree we look for things beyond stats in a preseason game. Here's what I saw: a strong and accurate arm. I think he got robbed on the fumble call (arm was going forward). He seemed in command of the team, like he knew what he was doing and the team seemed to respond to him. Barring injury, I think he can be a good quarterback because he seems like a very smart player and he works extremely hard. I just don't know if he's going to stay healthy.
@TheMrLandon He wasn't robbed of a fumbled call, the refs did call it back and the fumble return didn't count. Not to mention he missed a couple of practices and missed a game due to bruising of the ribs.
Tebow's got heart...and that's something you can't teach...you can teach mechanics, throwing motion, etc. but you can't teach heart and that desire to win....
I'll take Tim Tebow and to all of those that doubt his arm strength, mechanics, footwork, etc. can take Jamarcus Russell who had all those....yet so little heart

Christians often get seen as weak, losers, not fitting in with the "cool crowd". It's great to see a college athlete (especially one who attends a university in a city well known for its collegiate party atmosphere ) who can be outstanding in his sport, and boldly maintain a reputation as a follower of Jesus Christ. I hope it encourages other Christians to take a stand against the easy way, and share Christ with the world.

Tebow is great, but I'm of people treating him like a god. I followed LSU football my entire life. I've seen players step up and lead the same way he did. I've seen guys tear themselves to pieces for their teammates. And we best him in '07 with some of those great leaders we had in Matt Flyn, Jacob Hester, Glen Dorsey, Darry Beckwith, Ali Highsmith, Craig Steltz, Herman Johnson, Tyson Jackson, the list goes on.

I still dont buy his hype as a college player. Put Hershel Walker at QB and he could have put up the same #'s as Timmy. Plus he rarely could throw the deep ball. I'm not saying his 40 td's arent impressive, but dont sell Tim like he is the greatest thing to ever happen to college football. He played a rigged scheduelle and was in an SEC with the most overrated teams in the country. I havent even hit on him being ESPN's golden child.

Most of his rushing touchdowns were short distance but he got more rushing touchdowns then most running backs in the NCAA that year. He went 25th overall because he has alot of potential. He isnt gonna have an imediate impact in the NFl

The one thing that can't be recorded on paper is Tim's leadership, and competativeness. i have been watching college football for awhile and have never seen a single player get his team, and the fans more fired up. tim is one of the greats. That being said, i think this yearwe are seeing the guy that just might surpass him, and that's #2 of the Auburn tigers Cam Newton

@MTDfresh15 Mark Ingram won the Heisman as a Sophomore last year bonehead. That and his TD total was so high because something like 75% of high TD's that year were runs or passes under 5 yards. He had an amazing performance in last nights game btw. Especially on that first play!!!

An some runner up's, last time i checked, were pro-bowlers. Larry Fitzgerald, Addrian Peterson, Vince Young, Peyton Manning, Steve Young, Marshall Faulk, Joe Thiesmann, Darren McFadden. Ya over half of these people are in canton. So ya i think the heisman is much more than a joke.

godzilla1077, I agree we look for things beyond stats in a preseason game. Here's what I saw: a strong and accurate arm. I think he got robbed on the fumble call (arm was going forward). He seemed in command of the team, like he knew what he was doing and the team seemed to respond to him. Barring injury, I think he can be a good quarterback because he seems like a very smart player and he works extremely hard. I just don't know if he's going to stay healthy.

@TheMrLandon He wasn't robbed of a fumbled call, the refs did call it back and the fumble return didn't count. Not to mention he missed a couple of practices and missed a game due to bruising of the ribs.

Tebow's got heart...and that's something you can't teach...you can teach mechanics, throwing motion, etc. but you can't teach heart and that desire to win....

The point here is simple; even if Tebow came out and threw 13/13 with 3 TD's and 200 yds, 0 INT, you would find something to nitpick about. For a rookie, he wasnt too bad. He plays with a lot of grit. Look at his rushing TD, he took the hit to get a TD that didnt even matter.. The kid is a warrior.
