First up, anyone who claims they can "establish a relationship" with someone in 10 seconds is a swindler. And more importantly from the standpoint of interrogation, these methods have even more potential drawbacks than waterboarding. For instance, their use convinces everyone that anything the police say is a trick and a lie designed to elicit a confession. They routinely insult, humiliate, threaten and attempt to intimidate the person being interogated with no evidentury basis, just to fish.
He's making a point, that by building a relationship, you can get ahead in the interrogation faster and more effectively than by abusing them and torturing them.
If the point of interrogating is to get information, this gentleman's arguments make sense. If the point of the interrogation is to intimidate both internationally and our own people into fearing authorities so much that they cower away from all dissent, then the waterboarding is more "effective." I don't for one minute believe that the torture was about getting information. I believe it was about scaring the crap out of ordinary citizens to make us more compliant.
I get that, and I get that good rhetorical skills over the course of the interviews can be a crucial difference. Some old episodes of Homicide and . But there is something about this guy that suggest network marketing scam. The manner of his presentation, the quickness with which he suggests his methods work, and a suggested notion that he can tell you everything you need to know about someone in a short view of their apperence. This is then used as leverage to elicit admission or information in fear of the first

Look up the articles, essays, and probably even videos on here on the subject. let me look real quick, type "don't talk to the cops part 1" into the search box on here. Not really. Just because I know what something is doesn't make me a part of it, and, likewise, just because you don't know what something is doesn't mean you are not a part of it.

First up, anyone who claims they can "establish a relationship" with someone in 10 seconds is a swindler. And more importantly from the standpoint of interrogation, these methods have even more potential drawbacks than waterboarding. For instance, their use convinces everyone that anything the police say is a trick and a lie designed to elicit a confession. They routinely insult, humiliate, threaten and attempt to intimidate the person being interogated with no evidentury basis, just to fish.

If the point of interrogating is to get information, this gentleman's arguments make sense. If the point of the interrogation is to intimidate both internationally and our own people into fearing authorities so much that they cower away from all dissent, then the waterboarding is more "effective."
