What is the average litre per aussie trout :)- rule of thumb and how many kilos of food(total) will they consume until the grace your table? Yep, I am tempted to do the same as I live in a cold area in OZ.
@houseuponarock It's not done by water volume, it's done by biofiltration volume. You need enough biofiltration to process the waste from 100 trout whatever size they are. So I've got a 3000L tank and 1000L of biofiltration, which will sustain 100 fish at ~300g each, and the fish will be getting to that size in December. For 100 trout I reckon I'd go through about ~30kg of food ... that's a guess.
I've gone one better and have Eel Tailed Catfish in there (natural bottom feeders, native to the region). But over feeding is still #1 killer so the technique still stands.
