I wrote the 50000 words in a month. Then it took me 1.5 year to write the other 50000. Then it took me half a year to edit the thing. And you know what? It's still crap. The only thing I learned is that writing novels can be a PAIN.
Ugh, I have a story that I've been working on since August. I didn't work on it at all last month. Epic fail. Sorry to hear that you didn't finish NaNoWriMo. Writer's block sucks.
I totally failed nanowrimo...so much so that I completely forgot about even starting to write something this year. I've now STARTED nanowrimo twice, and FORGOT to start it once. In short, I fail. Oh well! :)
I started my NaNoWriMo , but then a really big pigeon pooped on all my pages right after i was done, and it soaked thru the entire 750 page Novel. I f-ing slayed that bitch and ATE IT. my novel tasted GOOD! :P
I didn't even bother to sign up since I knew I'd fail at it. But come on, who writes a book in 30 days? If bloody Hemingway couldn't do it how am I supposed to?

A novel a month seems like a lot. Maybe a chapter a month or a short story a month would be a better place to start.
I was just reading their website and their philosophy on writing reminds me a bit of "Zen and the art of writing" by Ray Bradbury. You should read it.
