  • Rep. Alan Hale is AWSOME

  • Comment removed

  • how can anyone vote for this bribe-taking politician

  • does it make me a horrible person that I agree with him?

unless you are WASTED, you should be able to drive after having say 5 or so beers

seriously I parallel park like a BOSS when I'm tipsy

  • Does nobody believe in God, nothing can happen to you unless he let's it. If I hear one more idiot saying people with a DUI are worthless and need to hanged I am going to shoot the next person I see with a cell phone....driving is dangerous and there are many risk factors....deal with it....also save your sob stories about kids....try having an adult conversation for once instead of a vindictive one. The real problem are the hardcore drunk drivers that will drive no matter what.....nearly 1/3

  • I rarely wish pain upon others, but I hope someone in his family is killed by a drunk driver. LEARN WHY THE FUCK YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

  • DURRRRR what's a designated driver??????/?!?/1!?111/1one

  • and people voted this clown in.....that in itself says way too much.

I've been to too many MVAs. Drunk drivers should be strung up and left to rot by the roadside. They are useless ,useless people.

  • @FlipPat31 Your comment, yeah. Also it is highly unoriginal.

  • Can we chemically castrate people who vote for these insane politicians

  • This guy just provided people with a very good reason of why shouldn't vote Republican. Goddamn idiot.

  • @AmersfoortTristan you need more reasons?

  • @mightyeff Nope. I am not American but this kind of reasoning is a good reason why people shouldn't vote republican.

  • Apparently drunk driving is a proud tradition in Montana? You learn something new every day.

As a citizen of a state neighboring Montana, I would like to encourage those Montanans who wish to celebrate their heritage to STAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BORDER.

    Thank you.

  • This man is stupid enough to be a democrat, and that says a lot.

  • @SeminarioMAE That's a Republican

  • @aile16 I know :)

  • @SeminarioMAE Uh.... he's a Republican.

  • This guy is obviously not familiar with the concept of a designated driver.

  • How is this guy a representative?? That was the dumbest shit i ever heard..

  • The Republican party are full of mental defects (like this clown) America needs to see them as public enemy #1 (even over Osama Bin Ladden and Al Quida) and vote them out of existence.

They're either God awful stupid, or they're whores to self serving lobby groups who represent 0.00001% of the US population.

  • @Trollmaster21 That .00001% pays 50% of the taxes in this country.

  • Comment removed

  • really there is not just hiching its called having someone drive for you

  • Yup...hitching or driving are the only two ways to go to a tavern. There is no other conceivable way to transport yourself in a responsible manner. none.

  • Why is this video receiving so many negative votes? Don't shoot the messenger here. I'm glad someone put this video up to ensure more folks would see this lunacy.

  • Good idea get all drunk and drive and kill someone! My really good friend was just killed in Missoula Montana by a drunk leaving the bar resiliently. They where on there way too Yellowstone National park. I wonder If the laws where stricter my friend would still be alive today. Apparently he was on his 3rd DUI and still had his license. Should of at least had a ignition controlled breathalyzer. Screw the small businesses it's not worth a persons life.

  • In other states I have seen 1st DUI offense the state takes your vehicle away or mandatory 6 days in jail. We do NOT need to do away with the laws, we need to make them tougher and then have officers that will actually enforce them. Be tough, not drunk and stupid. I am all for going out and having fun, but have a designated driver that doesn't drink.

  • This representative, just happens to also be the owner of a bar. What a dick.

  • @jlightningzzzz seriously? that would explain so much.

  • @jlightningzzzz This ludicrous and detrimental practice of barring welfare policies that go against a person's greedy self-interest is what some politicians do--mostly by Repubs who lobby for businesses and corporations. This talking head is just a simple dose of what other politicians with large corporate interests pursue. To them lives don't matter, only money does and common sense can take a hike.

  • So, this moron thinks the bars and taverns should permit their patrons to get rip roaring drunk just to support small business? What a fucking moron.

  • Can one be charged for inciting manslaughter?

  • @hewnandhammered yes

    depends on the case though

  • Don't drunks in Montana have any friends? It's called a designated drive ya jackass! If you wanna get loaded at the bar just have a sober friend drive you. Simple and alot more fun than drinking alone.

  • DUI laws are destroying a way of life? More like destroying other peoples lives.

  • O_O! he must get a lot of DUI's or something; only way I can come close to believing that hes serious...

  • ass hat

  • Is he joking or is he really serious about getting rid of the state DUI laws....I'm totally speechless?

  • Anyone that gets in a wreck while DUI instantly deserves to be charged with attempted murder. Anyone who kills someone should be charged with murder. There.IS.NO.EXCUSE.TO.DRIVE.UNDER.THE.INFLUENCE.

  • lol .

  • Omfg.

  • So DON'T DRINK already......novel idea eh? It's called "Being Responsible"

  • colonel sanders jr?

  • Is this guy for real? Yeah that would be great to have drunk drivers everywhere because I'm really concerned that I don't get along more with the middle-aged drunk losers in my local tavern. Maybe its because I don't drink, or maybe because I'm 18 and can't legally drink anyhow. Either way I don't care becaue this guy is a complete fucking idiot, I mean how is this guy even a representative when he brings up arguments like THAT? I think he's been drinking himself.

  • people like this senator are fools and will always be. As you can tell there is something wrong with him. Or maybe a drunk driver should hit him or one of his family members so he can go through the pain and heartache we have been through that stupid fuck!

  • DUI laws are destroying a way of life? Good, that's what they're there for.

  • DUI laws were designed to destroy a way of life. GOOD, it needs to be destroyed.

  • Wow, he is probably one of the moralists that are vehemently against marijuana too.

  • Eliminating DUI laws will stimulate the economy. Think of all the lucky undertakers and morticians who will make money preparing all the mangled corpses for open-casket funerals.

  • @encliticcopula - Yes, but what about all the police officers, paramedics, prosecutors, court officials, judges, stenographers, etc. that need DUI laws to remain on the books to help keep them working. They need DUI laws to stay on the books as much as morticians and undertakers need them off the books....so tell me, whose jobs are more important? Ohh, the moral and ethical dilemmas involved here....

  • This has to be the most absurd thing I have ever heard, in regards to this issue. Even in Montana, if you drive across the state and only encounter 5 other drivers- your still putting other people, property, and livestock at risk for completely selfish reasons. This man owns a bar, who is he putting in danger by letting them walk out trashed? Jeez. . .

  • What a fucking idiot.

  • Bars are the center of his community?

  • @squreshi10 he owns one actually

  • @Venue0309 That explains a lot.

  • What a fucking douchebag. He'll be crying a different tune when it's his son or daughter bleeding out after the car they're in gets wrapped around a tree by a drunk. Driving drunk is attempted murder, and DUI homicide should be charges as premeditated murder.

  • I don't think this guy's family tree has forked in generations!

  • @pidrissi Your family tree is a horizontal straight line...

  • In montana, most of us live on dirt roads. Besides, even if its just you and you never pass another soul, someone will be totaly heartbroken when you kill yourself flippin your car in a ditch. this happens, more often than you think.

  • I see where he's coming from. Everyone's just thinking of regular areas and big cities, but hes talking about places where the only roads are dirt roads, and you probably won't even pass anyone else on your 20 mile drive home through the woods from the tavern.

  • Comment removed

  • @theBASSOE

This guy comes from Basin, which is on a major roadway connecting our capital and another major town, with at least three other comminities situated between. No, im sorry, but he is just plain wrong!

  • @theBASSOE There's still trees to crash into.

  • @theBASSOE "Montana Alcohol-Impaired Driving Fatalities: 81".

unless its you or one of your family or friends are one of the ones that die. and 1 death no matter who it is, is 1 too many. the guy is a fool.

  • @theBASSOE - Actually he lives in a town that is right next to an interstate with, yes, traffic. His drive home is also not 20 miles in the woods without seeing another soul. I'm from his district and there is NO excuse for what he is suggesting.

  • Wow - what a bizarre and backwards place where the fight against drunk driving is actually not already indoctrinated in the culture. Is it 1960 or 2011?

Possibly a bad choice of words, but I hope everyone in this state sees the light very soon!

  • @MrBlackPoplar He isn't a voice for most people from Montana. He's trying to fight laws that the sane lawmakers are trying to enact.

  • Drunks Against Mad Mothers (DAMM)

  • It is about time for MADD to GTFO!!!! - DAMM

  • Montana is #1 per capita drunk driving deaths! Yeah! We're number one!

  • The Christian Right is guilty by association, since they promote this kind of reckless irresponsibility in Washington DC and every state house they hold sway in. The GOP is going to turn back the clock to the bad old days, before consumer safety laws, worker's compensation, unemployment insurance, social security, medicare, etc.

The government shutdown is on the calendar for April 8th, so if you're mailing something, hurry up. If you still haven't got your IRS refund, don't hold your breath.

  • Republicans defending alcoholism and criminal irresponsibility? Remember this, when they shut down the federal government and furlough all government workers next week. The guy processing your tax refund is a drain on society, but the drunk driver is good for business.

  • it's Real easy to eat a meal and drink slowly, no need to get smashed and then drive home

  • Who voted for this clown? I don’t know whether to give it thumbs up for good vid, or thumbs down for "what an idiot"

  • BTW: April Fools!!!

  • @Trollmaster21

Not a joking matter, AT ALL! Very offensive to anyone who had their world turned upside down by a drunk driver!

  • @FrodoHorton If you're so easily offended then don't read youtube comments.

  • @Trollmaster21

How do you figure that is being easily offended? Were you raised in a box or something? this isnt an off-color joke! This is life and death fool!

  • @Trollmaster21

Real easy to push others buttons who have lost loved ones to this scourge, real easy to make light of a sad situation, real easy to make an effort to offend others, when you have no accountability, no consequences for your aweful remarks. you are exceptionaly spineless, fucking pussy;)

  • Just think of how much more money people could put back in the economy if they didn't have to pay their DUI fines.

  • Since I own the car, it's my constitutional right to drive it in any state of mind I want.

This is no different than playing softball or video games drunk.

  • @Trollmaster21 ...are you effing kidding me? it is NEVER your right to put OTHER PEOPLE'S lives at risk (which is an inherent part of impaired driving). it has NO SIMILARITY to playing video games drunk. if you want to kill yourself in an accident, be my guest. but it's not up to you to take other people down with you. go to hell.

  • @bellababe129 If you're on the road and see the drunk driver, then you have the FREEDOM to keep a safe distance from them. I do this with anyone I see that's driving like a moron.

  • @Trollmaster21

If you are on the road and see a drunk driver, you have a RESPONSIBILITY to make sure they are removed from the road and punished! Stop talking jackass! I bet your mom looks at you and thinks "Really, thats the sperm that won?!"

  • @Trollmaster21 but it's ok to drive drunk, just as long as you don't hurt anybody.

  • @Trollmaster21 you can legally own a gun, but it doesn't make it your constitutional right to kill people with it. think before you speak, moron.

  • @bellababe129 I agree, it's not your constitutional right to deliberately crash your car into somebody.

  • Comment removed

  • @Trollmaster21

Your just another fcking moron! Another one to put up against the wall eh! These dumbasses are promoting wholesale slaughter on public roadways! And no, it is not your right to drive it anyway you want! No more than it is my right to cut your moronic ass up inch by fucking inch! See how that works! Quick, think of another response designed to do nothing more than show your negative IQ score!

  • I have that same tie

  • What a moron! The "way of life" that these DUI bills are "destroying" is KILLING PEOPLE.

  • these laws are not in place to protect small businesses, or a perceived way of life, they are in place to protect life! Maybe its time for bar owners to look for a source of income that dosnt have a negative impact on others, as while bars are cool and have their place, he implies they make their money from drunken driving, in which case they have no right to opperate! Period! He is hurting the small businesses he seeks to protect! feeble minded waste of oxygen!

  • what an asshole....

  • way of life=being an alcoholic

  • Using his logic, law enforcement and public safety are hinderances to business profits, so let's do away with them. Oh wait, there are already lots of politicians who have taken that stance.

  • Geeeeeez......If only this were an April Fools Day stunt

  • yea, that's why us "big city" types, invest in public transportation.

  • Sure, just go back to the age old Montana tradition of riding your horse to the bar and we'll call it good.

  • LOL Yeah, good one, you get a B-.

  • Better to save ink and keep your name off the ballot. Buy the signs tho, but don't post them anywhere, you will support both the small business of sign making and you will be contributing to beautification of Montana. It would help if you moved to any country in the middle east.

  • Holy moly Hdtexan, that was funny as hell.

  • april fools?

  • Is this nutjob f'in serious?!

  • As a reformed drunk driver I ask, how else are they getting the car home?

  • Hale, you need to WAKE UP! I hope your the next one killed by a drunk driver...Cabs can take you anywhere you want to go! Or a designated driver can too!

  • I wonder if the Laws had been tougher, Maybe my Dad would still be alive, maybe could have met his grandchildren, maybe my Mom's heart would not have been broken, maybe he would have been able to delight in his great grand children, maybe our family would not have felt emotional devastation......Dui unnecessary unless you have no conscience. Unless you've been involved in this reality you will never know the pain and heart break, and I hope you never have to, so be careful what you stand for.

  • Um, well, the GOP uses this logic all the time: no cap and trade because it hurts small business; no Obamacare because it hurts small business; corporate taxes are so high it discourages business (GE paid none, lol). No DUI laws because they hurt small business.

I really don't see why people are so outraged over this, it's basically the GOP's standard line?

  • @urtheist ,so what these 5,500 people killed don' count .you should tell there families that...., by people that don't know how to drive, and at there right sober minds that gets a slap on the wrist,a lot of these people don't need a drivers lic.and illegals that can't even read road sighns..,And i don't need google to tell me that...,I gotta drive around these assholes everyday to show me that. difference..

  • "Their families" not "there" "their right sober" not "there" Google can help you learn the difference too.

You just had a rant about nobody tallying deaths caused by distracted drivers. You were wrong.

I'll agree that there are more distracted drivers than drunk drivers on the road.

But for a group that is much smaller...they kill more than twice as many people.

That the more dangerous group is punished heavier just seems fair to me.

Different moving violations bring different punishments.

  • America folks. People literally vote for this guy

  • i don't understand why everyone wasn't just laughing at him. do people really take this seriously? LOL

  • How many motherfuckers have been killed by assholes on a cell phones ,eaten a hamburger, changen the radio etc...and the people who runs a stop sighn killen a family member..and whats with these people that aint drinken commiting these cruel acts ,there fken lic.should be jerk from them, whats there excuses, there not even drinken .they should get a big ass fine too..no they dont tally those kill rates up,goody tooshoo bastards!calif. laws are bullshit..

  • @BLUEOXLogger Um...does google not work on your computer?

Distracted driving kills an estimated 5,500 people a year.

Drunk driving kill 13,300 people a year..

  • The only thing that Hale revealed in his oration was sympathy for people who cannot control their drinking. He is appealing to the Montana population that demographically supports boozing oneself into oblivion, regardless of whether it is in one's home or on a public highway. Remember, 20% of our population buys 80% of the booze, and they are generally the largest squawkers (with some really foul vocabulary as you can see) when their "right " to drink is compromised.

  • If they do not hitchhike they need to go to jail...don't do the crime if you can't do the time...LOL

  • @pat1574dwyer THIS GUY HAS IT RIGHT. iN NY STATE OUR DUI LAWS ARE SO TOUGH THAT KILLERS ARE PUNISHED LESS. THESE FUCKING LAWS HAVE DETROYED SO MANY OUT OF TOWN BARS AND THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE WHO RAN THEM. THE .08 SUCKS. WE SHOULD GO BACK TO THE OLD LAW .15. THAT WAY A PERSON COULD DRINK A RESONABLE AMOUNT WITHOUT GETTING DANGEROUS. IN THIS FUCKING STATE, YOU CAN'T EVEN HAVE A FEW DRINKS AT YOUR DAUGHTERS WEDDING!

  • @MrJimmy1437

Actually, moron, you can have a few drinks at your daughters wedding, but you cant drive like an ignorant NY idiot. You wanna be that kind of fool, get outa MT and go back to NY and kill yourself(just yourself) in a drunk driving accident. You are the kind of loser who has taken so many beautiful, innocent lives in the name of irresponsible self gratification. Your a waste of oxygen, put a gun in your mouth and squeeze man, squeeze! Were you at, I will come and help you!

  • @FrodoHorton Boy you really are an asshole. Fifty years ago everybody drank and drove and there were no more accidents then there are now. i would have liked to have seen what would have happened if one of the cowboys with a badge had of pulled over my dad and some his friends who had just got back from fighting in

France. They probably have gotten a MI carbine stuck up their ass

  • @MrJimmy1437

Everyone needs to check out this idiots comment on the 3rd page of posts. another moron. we cannot ignore these kind of feeble minded opinions, tar and feather this jkass and and rep. hale too, and send em back to NY were most of the trash belongs!

  • hes defending less strict laws not drunk driving itself

    dumb fucking title

  • welp. there goes my trip to Montana

  • 48 people have never had fun

  • Comment removed

  • The bill was House Bill 14, to eliminate the 5-year look back when prosecuting DUIs.

  • Its called a DESIGNATED DRIVER you fucking moron

  • idiot. fire him ftw.

  • I don't suppose anyone is going to bother telling us what the actual bill was...

Or would that be too much like telling the whole truth?

  • *faceplam*

  • Check out the Montana Cowgirl Blog for more on this crazy!

  • lolz

  • I'm almost speechless with the stupidity of this jerk. He's not even a native Montanan. Born in Arizona and probably doesn't even have a green card...

  • Is this guy for reals? I hope he is not representative of Montanans Mentality!? IDIOT!

  • This is the kind of brainless fck we want to represtent MT? This chump cant even deliver his mssg without stuttering like a two yr old! Bet he was for the Code of the West too! How come we loose so many great people to drunk aholes, yet this waste of flesh continues to walk our earth!

  • Right - because he OWNS bars and taverns in Montana. He'd rather fatten his wallet by letting people drive drunk. SO what if some kid has to grow up without a father?

  • alangail38@wildblue dot net is this clowns email address if you want to chat with him.

  • Drunks are the center of society? What a chump

  • Montana truly is the only place in the world where there are people who defend "their god given right" to endanger other people lives

  • Hale needs help he's loco!

  • @sophistFCD So if someone has a few drinks and has a gun in their possession they should be charged with attempted murder?

  • This guy must have his head so far up his a.. its almost a laugh. And the folks up that way elected him!!! Says lots about that bunch. If his wife or children were killed by a drunk driver would he speak out in support. You notice he only spoke for a few seconds. Lets hope he speaks out no more. Dumb ASS!!!!!!!

  • Typical republican

  • That's embarrassing and I'm a conservative.

  • Better they hitch hike than kill my nephew. Oh wait, that already happened. I wish he would have hitchhiked.

  • so drinking and driving is OK, but a couple grams of bud and your lookin at years in prison? talk about corruption.

  • Despicable behavior, and this man is an embarrassment to our state.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder how they are gonna celebrate

  • These are the people running this country?

  • Drunk driving laws are way out of hand. I could understand someone's life being ruined if they hurt someone while driving under the influence but not for a victemless crime

  • @rwnugent1 : right you are! wait until they kill someone before they have to face any consequences. derp.

  • @rwnugent1 What an idiot you are! If you punish them for the victimless crimes, then you prevent the crimes in which someone gets injured or, like my cousin(passenger), killed. The drunk drivers who don't kill people are in the same "state" of inebriation as ones who do. The only difference is whether or not someone is in their path.

  • @layzbumm would you feel better if your cousin died at the hands of a sober person?

  • @rwnugent1 So, what, if pull out a gun and shoot at you, and miss, I shouldn't get arrested because it's a "victimless crime"? Are you really this obtuse?

  • @SophistFCD So if someone drinks and has a gun in their possession they should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon? or attempted murder? After all they "could" hurt someone.

  • @rwnugent1 There are laws against carrying a firearm when you are drunk or even when you are in a place that serves alcohol.

  • @onieb25 there are laws against carrying a "concealed" firearm when you're drunk.

  • Funerals caused by drunk driving defiantly do connect communities, but perhaps not in the best ways.

  • At the 0:27 mark, did he say "sinner" of the market or "center" of the market. It sure sounded like "sinner".

  • The context that is missing here is what the proposed laws are defining as over the limit. There are a number of legislators banding around the idea of very low blood alcohol limits, sighting Sweden's 0.02 limit. At that level most people would reach the limit at 1 drink per hour. The difference between Sweden and Montana is that Sweden has large and effective public transportation system, Montana has no public transport.

  • Drunk Driving:Montana's way of life.

  • The Skipper is in favor of drunk driving?

  • More public transport then.
