  • Like an Indian raga in slow motion. Wouldn't change a single note.

  • Timeless masterpiece~

  • Music Is Love and this song is just love!

  • Best album out of the San Francisco music scene. Words fail me. Exquisite.

  • Stunningly simple and beautiful song. The sound of the 12-string acoustic is haunting, as are the sounds of David and Neil harmonizing. An underrated classic.

  • one of my favorite albums of all time. they captured the magic right here. truly channeling great spirit.

  • una maravilla absoluta apenas escuche los primeros acordes, la musica de lo mejor de la woodstock nation

  • One of my all-time favorite recordings EVER! I named my music blog MUSICisLOVE.

  • An overlooked diamond, I have still got my American import vinyl (with the little triangle nicked out of the corner - I live in the United Kingdom) I've loved this album for nearly forty years now, and this track especially still gives me goosebumps, thank you David Crosby.

  • happy birthday David~

  • First heard this lp when I was still in high school and it usual ,great music always stands the test of time. Love Neil singing back-up.

  • (at about 3) When all the high school girls get out of Tam High!

  • I discovered this album after CDs came out, so I have not worn anything out but some CD players and MP3 players I have played it on. And this one is still one of my favorite pieces. Heh. First I typed "Peaces". Ironic slip there, eh? ;-)

  • I hear Joni in the distance................

Graham and Neil were a very big part in writing this song...........

    Thank God for Yucatan Gold!!!!!!!

  • I used to listen to this when I was about 13 and my favourite part was when the 12-string goes stereo. Sounds like heaven loud......

  • I am listening to a live record with a gang of talent. my brother crewed on his sailboat in the sad days. my father decided to get sober, and he used to go to meetings at the alano club. (forgivive the anonimity. but he is very open about his clean/sober life now. im a santa barbara native, and have never met him. he was a vocal hero of mine since i was 12. so, david, my email adresss is stuarm2@gmail.com . i figured , what the hell, I just want to have 5 minutes to tell you. Stu.....

  • I agree whole heartedly, by far one of the best underrated albums,by one of the most talented and innovative, artist, musicians, and song writers, of all time. When David first handed this finished product to the record company they thought that he had lost his mind. Little did those idiots know that this was a masterpeice. Thank you David for this fine, and inspiring peice of work that I've had the pleasure of playing over and over and over again. Traction In the Rain..

  • My dad played this for me when I was really young and I'm still listening! And you're right, this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. :)

  • I don't know how people don't not like this song much less LOVE IT LIKE I DO !

  • I love this song. Magnificent Album. Thanks David.

  • Can anyone ever be any better than David Crosby? A MASTER OF HIS CRAFT---he's got it all: great voice, great music, great lyrics....EVERYTHING! Keep on keepin' on, David!!!!

  • I hear what you're saying rfranklin!. I bought it when it first came out and I've got the cd. sadly he never came near to this again, why I wonder but a superb album.

  • Love this today as I did 40 years ago, maybe even more. Thank you, RakyMaky.

  • after all these years, i cannot believe his this song affects me the same way, in such a deep place inside of me. it make me just so very happy. it's so real.

  • david and neil - doesn't get cooler

  • I don't know what it is about his voice and music... it's so quietly joyful ... love traction in the rain too ... couldn't believe hearing that last year in a chill out tent at Solfest .. lovely track :))

  • Happy Birthday, Dave, been listening since midnight (5 hours) to celebrate. Thanks for the past 45+ years of love.

  • just the title of this song reminds me of what has hapened to popular music, simon cowell, it aint love its become a formula.

  • I bought this album new in college and still have it. Have played the CD to death and never get tired of it. Love to see him in concert every chance I get.

  • @rfranklinw1 the best time to be born... our music is still the greatest ever produced

  • @grateful828= You are so right ! I just thank god that my parents exposed me to such wonderful music when I was younger, I'm 33 now and still never listen to music past 1979, nothing worth 2 buffalo nickles rubbed togethar past that year!!

  • @rfranklinw1 I'm just of the same opinion (and age) as you.

You really need to get a copy of The Perro Tapes. Great companion to If Only I Could Remember My Name.

  • like you used to play this album as a teenager on headphones before bed at night; you're right one of the top 4 or 5 albums ever

  • @rfranklinw1 I played this album to the point that I could hear side 2 through side 1.

  • @rfranklinw1 - Absolutely! One of my all time favorites. I went through a couple of vinyl copies myself until I recorded it on one of the first quality cassette recorders - Advent 201 - in 1974. I'm 59...

  • @rfranklinw1 Agreed 100%.

  • @rfranklinw1 Thank you for sharing your passion sir, you are the truth.

  • simply put, one of my favorite albums of all time. he may not have the volume of output of stills or young, but, wow, when he did something it was brilliant, sheer genius.

  • Put on your colors and run come see

Everybody's sayin' that music's for free

Take off your clothes and lie in the sun

Everybody's sayin' that music's for fun
