I remember seeing another clip on Sesame Street featuring this same species of monkey. The main differences were that the monkeys were more active, and soundtrack had a trumpet on it.
You are RIGHT. They ARE Vervet monkeys. Of course I remember this classic film. When each monkey is revealed in this film, do you think the sound represents its "identification"? Anyway It's cool to go retro!
I don't have the film of the lionesses, wish I did. I would love to have all the S.S. nature films in this format i.e. wildlife with instrumental music, especially with interesting arrangement like this one. The one about "life on the river" that has dialogue is my favorite, I can remember the melody from childhood.

I feel the music creates a peaceful, serene moment.

That's some sad bassoon music, it makes those monkeys look lonely and bored.

I remember that film. When I saw the film where the Gibbons are hollering at eachother, The off-screen announcer said "Monkeys make Funny Noises."

Great classic SS film, the three lionesses film would be awesome to see again if you have it :)

I like the bassoon soloist. You wouldn't happen to have the one of the 3 lionesses walking would you?
