I think it's very important not to compare a cover to the original artist. They are not trying to best him, they are paying respects by playing a song. Especially a song like this one.

The originals are better 99% of the time anyway. I like this version. That dude can sing with soul.

@glortor i think it's inevitable that cover versions get compared to the originals, and i think that's a good thing that they are compared; otherwise kids would think these cover versions are original songs. this version is good but i think the original is still better. lonestar is country, and the lyrics of this song sound like they're supposed to be coming from someone who is a tourist in the south, not from someone who lives there.

But on the other hand it shouldn't be a reason to bash an artist for attempting a cover. And then I expressed that they can play good music. The 1% who actually can sing like MJ (rest his soul) are a rarity. The rest are handpicked for their uniqueness and pushed through the media so they gain some recognition. More than half of those are forgotten because singing is just something they do. The very few who put effort in, didn't get audio mixed AND are up there, are the real thing.
