  • what suburb is this in?? nice frangapanni!

  • So hard to get this video paused when lightning happens!

  • youre taking a chance standing out there. you never know, whamo.

  • holly shit scary

  • Great picture quality, what type of camera??

  • @brumbypt Sony HDR-XR520

  • @Salgaz

actually it licks balls thou.. Nokia 3310 is much better..

  • Nice!

  • Bam 1:34

  • Jeeezus - Break out a couple of tinnys boys.

  • that storm was really bad

  • 1:31

  • have u ever had green lightning? ive seen it. whole sky lit up green and lit everything bright as day for 1/2 a second. scared the shit out of me

  • wounder how benjerman franklin felt when he got hit by lighting

  • @40ginseng Enlightnened'. xP

  • I've seen countless thunderstorms up here in Canada, however I've never seen the clouds turn green..

  • @janmadytay apparently green clouds indicates severe hail possibility which is exactly what we got

  • @Salgaz i heard it also can indicate a funnel cloud forming??

  • @Salgaz That's right... green clouds indicate a high amount of ice in the cloud formation; the most obvious result is hail, but it's also an indication of how cold the upper level air layer is. Depending on the temperature on the ground, it can develop tornadoes due to high wind speeds via convection if I understand it correctly.

  • @Salgaz I'm from Canada and I've seen the clouds turn green. That's when we hit the basement because the tornado sirens begin to go off.

  • @janmadytay Its called H.A.A.R.P search it up

  • @cimbomm05

    Its called B.S.

Don't start blaming people for thunderstorms now...

  • @supercell1995 Lol you uneducated noob! do some research before you talk ;)

  • @cimbomm05

As far as i know, This thunderstorm was naturally produced by atmospheric instability. Look at modeled charts and stuff before you talk ;) LOL

  • @supercell1995 Exactly Instability! Please research h.a.a.r.p & have a look for yourself you child

  • @cimbomm05

Sure cloud seeding exists, but seeding clouds does not result in thunderstorms, especially severe weather producing monsters. And in some parts of Australia where there is little if no population, there are supercell thunderstorms that occur every summer, no different than the midwestern US. And if you think these tornado outbreaks in the US are because of h.a.a.r.p. think again. April 2011 outbreak was predicted by every meteorologist

  • @supercell1995 Every meteorologist? impossible. i never said it results in thunderstorms, I think youve gone abit off the topic my dear friend

  • @cimbomm05

And this is a thunderstorm, not H.A.A.R.P. my friend.

And yes, before the April 2011 outbreak, watches were being issued by SPC hours in advance. And the conditions were quite clear to most meteorologists in Alabama and Mississippi. Large scale severe weather events are hardly a surprise to someone who knows how to forecast.

  • @janmadytay in australia mate if you see green clouds you head for cover

  • @janmadytay dude it's the matrix

  • No Torndoes but severe hail damage

  • the clouds are a greenish tinge which indacates hail or severe weather like tornadoes!

  • damn that was loud, had my volume up high on my ear phones lol. IM AWAKE O.O lol

  • i love that sound ka--boom.

  • when the clouds are looking green its time to go inside

  • Very close CG, indeed. The time difference between the initial strike and the explosion of thunder is about 0.4 to 0.45 seconds. That would place the bolt somewhere between 0.07 and 0.09 miles from where you were standing (or about 369 to 475 feet away) - Definitely close!

  • @ssnowday

No that's looks like Pointe aux trembles, Quebec. LOL

  • Absolutely gorgeous footage.

Permanently added to my Weather playlist (...it's not that great, but hey!).

    Thanks for the upload.

  • try to stop picture for that lightning... look cool

  • Ok so looking at other youtube vids it appears that storm was a doozey. My bad. Of course there was hail.

  • Haha I bet you shit yourself at 1:34. Get any hail out of that?

  • oh my god ! scary

  • @filzah102 sure was. Hate to see what a hurricane/tornado could do

  • @Salgaz are u scared? cause u were standing in front of it ?

  • what time was it ? the sky has a surreal colour :o

  • @StarSpawn06 It was around 3pm

  • Just have to say..I'm loving all these smart people standing under trees with metal cameras in their hands during a thunderstorm...but like...I dnt wanna start a stupid fight or anything...just wanted to say that...you have to be careful in lightning storms :/...Anyway...rant over :P Really great video footage :)

  • @LittleMissSunshine2x I kept thinking I shouldn't be out here, but I had just bought the camera and though it would be a good time to try it out. Think I was more afraid at the time of geting the camera wet. I have always loved thunder storms especially in the tropics where they put on a great show every evening.

  • @Salgaz Oh right :P Kay your fine...Really good footage anyway ! :P

  • It wasn't so close.

  • @miguelitoXXL Close enough

  • @miguelitoXXL I was like, this is it?

  • Awesome quality. If you freeze at 1:34 you see the extent of the flash!

  • Woah, thats awesome!

  • not the safest place to be lol!

  • Shit! wow! lol, impressive, just out of curiosity what camera are you exactly using?, because i am eger to record my next lightning storm with my JVC HD Everio CamCorder ($2000). Please reply :)

  • @MuziKFreak009 Sony HDR-XR520, very happy with it

  • @Salgaz oh Yeah iv seen that camera before, I was thinking of buying a Sony one, don't know why I turned that down lol. But yes that's a very nice camera :)

  • 40,000+ cars (including mine) got written off & our local hospital & local shopping mall had their roofs collapse. It was scary driving home from uni in it!

  • Good job dude

  • Do you mind if I use parts of this video for a project I'm making? It just looks so amazing! Great capture! :-)

  • @Iced0826 sure, go ahead

  • Amazin Camera

  • Very nice shot!!!! And backyard ;)

  • no it was a frek scry dtorm

  • Perth! :D

  • i love thunderstorms<333

  • nice catch that sky is too green for me . any tornado reports?

  • Cool! I paused it right when the lightning stroke so all i saw was white. It was awesome:)

  • the dogs barked and warnd you

  • do you mind if i use the lightening parts for a video im making? ill put u in the link box saying its ur clip and all that :)

  • @OMGitsedward sure, go ahead

  • Whoa what as that at the end there? A troll?

  • wow what beautiful trees and scenery.that palm tree is so amazing doesn't even look real!the sky is like an aqua color.wow!

  • Nice.

  • what suburb was this ?

  • Where's that? In Florida?

  • @Astromchaser Perth, Western Australia

  • wow.Nature rules !!! :D

  • DUDE! THAT WAS SO FREAKINNG AWSOME!!!

  • Nice. I wish I had your problems:O

  • lol, i live east of Perth and we get more storms here, and that has happened a few times, scary huh :P

  • wow crazy storm... the sky is all green! Did you guys get a tornado by any chance? great quality vid and i <3 the landscape in your backyard!

  • @cypherchyk Na no tornado just a huge ass storm. I think it was something like 600,000/700,000 homes lost power and many still had no power after a week.

  • I just might be high, but I didn't hear a dog throughout the whole video until that bolt was about to strike. Maybe it knew something? Also, I love how the bolt just "peek-a-boo'ed" in.

  • Good capture but sound quality is a little strange!

  • @csengeri It was raining while I was filming so most of the "sound" would have been the rain hitting the steel patio roof I was under

  • How Much Did you get your Sony HDR-XR500VE for?

  • @VidPro95 The camera I used was actually a Sony HDR-XR520VE not a 500VE as previously posted. The 520VE has a larger storage capacity (240GB). Other than that they are the same. Cost me $A1675.00, expensive but a nice non professional camera. Very happy with it.

  • man this storm fucked our house roof up :P i got awesome footage on my phone!

  • Nice one, seems like the lightning gave you a bit of a fright

  • EXPLOSIVE STORM, Thumbs up!

  • Exceptionally strong thunderstorms have this characteristic green color in the clouds. Very cool.

  • @hebneh If it gets really dark green then someone is is really deep shit because that's a tell tale sign of a nearby Tornado.

  • My parents bought a brand new car on the Saturday before the storm now its full of dints from the huge hail stones =/

  • Nice footage, but I wish someone filmed the amazingly beautiful sunset we had afterwards. I was such a contrast to the day, but then again we saw nature really put on show for us that day, shame it came with destruction as well for those that were affected.

  • Nice one. Great bit of video especially capturing the flash towards the end. Bloody close.

  • awsome video man. I loved every minute of that storm. The camera did a great job too.

  • Great video!! This is one of the first videos on youtube that I've seen of the perth storm that shows the true green of the approaching hail clouds. Where abouts in perth are you and what video camera did you use?

  • @TheViolentTeddy

Filmed in Shelley facing north using a Sony HDR-XR500VE, new camera so really happy with it

  • @Salgaz Thanks for that!! Yeah, looked up the camera. Nice!! Just recently got myself a canon hf200. Seems pretty nice so far. Still learning about it! Anyway, great stuff.

  • @Salgaz - Mate, you totally shat yourself at 1:35 ...don't blame you!

  • This reminds me of that 1 evil experiance i had wid lightning and it will alwayz give me goosbumpz......... ._.

  • im in como and a lightning struck so close 2 my house that the car alarm went off! :O unfortunately no vids but sounded like a bomb. was VERY close. nice capture m8

  • So beautiful, the green garden and the rain- it's amazing, i live in Canada and i am tired of snow.. I want to see some green.. Very relaxing video..And the last part- well, i think u'll be dead before even realize it if your going to be strike by a lighting, no point in ducking :) Thanks for the video.

  • I went through painstakingly, and stopped it on 1 segment of 1:34 and the whole frame in white, just awesome.

  • wow that made the camera stuff up and blur

  • heh, i just saw a tiny bit of this clip on 9 news tonight

  • so many storys have come from this storm ay

  • it was fun :D

  • what part of perth was that?

  • @Bithu

    Shelley

  • excellent capture!!, any footage of the storm at work?

  • @AusStorm

No footage of hail, just of wind and rain, nothing too special
