  • is john wearin a rage against the machine shirt?

  • John Rzeznik has the sexiest legs.

  • I don't think robbys mic is working... Lol

  • where is the LONG WAY DOWNNNNN?!?!

still in love with them though

  • Why are there so few comments for this awesome video? Let's change that...

  • the hell happened at 1:09?

  • @RTE101 Haha. Forgot the lyrics when he threw his glasses.

  • Johnny has the coolest hair ever!

  • I now know why they keep running up and down the stage for. Moving targets for the water bottles.

  • Love it! Thanks for sharing =)

  • That crowd did not know what they wee in store for. Definitely one of their greatest performances

  • @FreewayBandTV1

Yup, you should get the 85 for it. Like I said, the 81 may be too bright for alder bodied guitars.

  • @FreewayBandTV1

Just a question, how many guitars do you have?

  • @FreewayBandTV1

Well, I'm guessing since its a strat body, its made of alder. So, an EMG 81 may sound too bright. And from what I heard, an 85 is a more superior pickup than the 81 in the bridge position. But it would be pretty wise to test them out before you try to buy one. You can probably easily find an 81-fitted alder body at a music shop, but I haven't seen a lot of 85-fitted ones lately.

Also, to answer your question, I saw it on a website once, but I forgot the name.

  • The two announcers are a little too corny....

  • I have grown up listening to the Goo Goo Dolls' music and loving it, but it wasn't until my first time seeing them live this year that I realized how much of a babe John Rzeznik is. Maybe it was just the thrill of finally seeing them in person... nah.... I think he's just a babe :)

  • @TheRockinJeans Thanks a alot, man!

  • gooooooooooooooooooooo

  • What kind of guitar is Johnny using? Me and my band are looking for one just like it. Also, what amplifier/pedal effects would he be using?

  • @ZeroGravityGuitar87 The guitar is a Strat copy by ESP, with only one pickup (an EMG 85 I believe). It was originally yellow, but John taped and painted it black, and slammed a black pearl pickguard on it. I don't think they make that specific model anymore, so you'll have to look for another Strat copy with a bolt-on neck, probably alder body and EMG 85 (or 81) bridge humbucker. As for the amp he uses, I believe his main amp is a Marshall JCM 900, at least it was in the '90s.

  • @ZeroGravityGuitar87

Its an ESP 400 Series strat. It was discontinued in the 90's. Like Rockin said, he modded it with a new paintjob, pickguard, and single EMG 85 (not 81) pickup.

But they re-released it under the LTD brand as the ST series (Check the ESP website). It comes in distressed black with a maple fretboard and floyd rose bridge or sunburst with a rosewood fretboard and vintage-style tremolo. Both are under $400.

  • I could just listen to Johnny's raspy, sandy voice all day. His voice now is really good, but I just love his 90's vocals. They're just amazing

  • Are we gonna move something or what? haha

    Gotta love Goo Goo Dolls!

  • i miss this times and the worst is i missed them

  • sound mix horrible!

  • Haha the announcer guy at the start looks like Tourrettes Guy Hehehe...

  • CLASSIC................

  • Haste the Day at least can recognize the greatness of this Goo Goo classic.

But lets not get all confused and place their version in the same league as the original...

Goo's did it best, no comparison.

  • John looks nervous ... but never mind .. they all didi it soo well

    GGD 4 ever!!!

  • agreed

  • HASTE THE DAY rapes thes niggers butthole

  • in my opinion the haste the day version is better. bcuz it fits my style of music better but either way both versions are great

  • In case any of the other readers take my last comment wrong, I was talking about HTD's version with the lifeless vocal.

Johnny's vocal is all but. So much soul to his.

  • Are you okay in the head? No offense.

Seriously. Haste The Day's version has no feeling to it. I admire the musicianship of the band, but the vocal is just lifeless. It feels like he's singing a song on Guitar Hero.

I wouldn't have attacked you had you said "In my opinion", but just stating it is a bit ridiculous. Sorry.

  • The goo goo dolls of "girl right next to me" and "Falling down" were the best, but guys...iris is one of the best song ever written

  • I love Johnny!!! Awesome voice and super handsome!!! :)

  • You are a joke.

  • whaaaat?

  • John Rzeznik is so damn HOTT!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL 0:04

  • i like Haste the Day's version better

  • Poor Robby, the sound mixing was fuckin' him up.

    Long Live to the Goo

  • Does Johnny have a tattoo on his leg?

  • Yeah, on his right one at least. It looks like a snake or a dragon.

  • why are people throwing shit at them?

  • Man, I can NEVER get enough of Goo Goo Dolls! Music i can listen to until i die! lol! Thanks for sharing the vid! If you have time check out another fav band of mine, they have a brand spankin new vid, just search for "Can't Hate You + Brandon Paris Band"

    Thanks again!

    <3 Rachel

  • HTD cover blows this away. period.

  • Not really.

  • faster and heavier is all im saying

  • Yeah, but the Goo Goo Dolls aren't trying to be heavy.

    GGD are just GOOD.

  • You must be insane. Metalcore sucks, HTD destroyed this song. They should stick to what there good at...which isnt much..

  • Ok, seriously I have no problem with this version. After all it is the original, but I like heavier stuff so naturally I won't like this as much. Also the fact that I heard the HTD version first and did not know it was a cover until I looked it up on youtube. I have my opinion, you have yours.

  • Fail

  • One of the few bands that get better with age. Johnny's voice was a little shot for a while, but I notice they tuned down a bit now to save his voice, and they sounded awesome. Last saw them at the Showboat at New Years Eve House of Blues. They nuked the place. They were incredible, haven't lost a step.

  • The goo goo dolls are one of the very few bands that actually sound better live then on their record! At least years ago when i saw them live a few times.... I hear they lost their edge now

  • GREAT SONG!!!

i loved twister when it came out and loved the song

people who say haste the days version was better

i disagree because there version wasent on twister

and that was a kick ass movie.

plus they dident write it they just covered it

    im not saying theirs sucks

im just saying they covered it and that's not a very hard thing to do.

i just think the goo goo dolls should get way more credit then they do in my opinion.

  • ha!

    reminds me of "Twister"

  • is that a strato

  • Miss the old Goo Goo Dolls, when they were fun and kicked butt. Saw them a ton in small clubs, when it was just three of them, and no shoes. lmao. The only other guy that would perform with them was Lance Diamond, to sing various covers like Never Take the Place of Your Man. Hold Me Up, is still by far their best album, followed by Superstar Carwash, A Boy Named Goo and Jed. After that, they lost their edge.

  • The only way you could say that Haste the Day's cover is "better" is that it's more "metal" (which does not necessarily equal better). I don't see why people bash the Goo's version, without it, Haste the Day wouldn't have the song to cover.

  • no its not

  • They're both really good. o.O

  • Damn it will someone please turn Takac's mic up?

  • como se llama este tema? esta muy bueno

  • "Long Way Down" como esta en el titulo del video.

Goo Goo Dolls original version is cleaner and better.

The only good thing about Haste The Day is the fast tempo, but that's about it.

I prefer the Goo's version WAY better.

  • me late la rola

  • no i like haste the days version better too lol

  • haste the days version is way better fuck all of u who think different, wonder how many spams ill get lol..pussys

  • little aggressive with your choice of music huh

  • yeah because people like talking smack online so its better to be aggressive, online and in real life huh.....PITY

  • this is a GREAT GREAT version, i just wish robby's mike was working....

  • wow. johnny your voice is amazingly beautiful

  • hmmm im sure hes reading this

  • the GGD Before-1990 were very poor. Dizzy up the girl-Present very very famouse and rich and the best band in the wolrd

  • no mic for the chorus?

    great band!!

  • robby is so HOTT!!!!!and who ever threw garbage at them this is for them:I HATE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!

  • i saw them 7/20 at PNC they rocked out.. good band i love em!

  • sorry 2:47 :)

  • i love how johnny just kicks random shit out of the way at 2:37 lol

  • After watching the beginnings and ends of the songs from Woodstock, I finally figured out the order: 1. Long Way Down 2. Fallin' Down 3. Burnin' Up 4. Stop the World 5. Lazy Eye 6. Slide 7. Name 8. Dizzy 9. Full Forever 10. Naked 11. Broadway 12. Flat Top 13. Iris Awesome performance by the Goo Goo Dolls!
  • Thank you for giving the order to the rest of us!

    thank you... really

  • i think dizzy might be before name because at the beginning of name he says we just played one you didnt know cuz dizzy was new and then he said now we'll play one you know and played Name

  • I double checked, but I'm positive Dizzy is after Name. Look at the very end of the Name video and you see John's guitar tech hands him his pink sparkle Les Paul, the guitar he uses for Dizzy. Also, Slide would have been new too so (as hard as it is to believe) people wouldn't have known Slide.

  • lol yea i guess ur right you obviously watched these vdeos a lot! lol

  • The beginnings and ends, yeah.

  • that other guitarist isnt in the band anymore is he?

  • The other guitarist's name is Nathan December. He was never in the band, he was a highered guitarist who toured with them during the Dizzy Up the Girl tour.

  • Hey I rented a movie that was made right about the time A boy named Goo was released, the movie is called "Reality Bites" and there is a scene where Ethan Hawke is playing at this bar and Nathan December is his guitar player. I thought it was pretty funny to see him in a movie.

  • thumbs up for nostalgia

  • What happened with Johnny and the backup guitarist?

  • does Robby ever wear shoes on stage?

  • woah, I just noticed that lol!

  • lol i saw them at SPAC just like a week ago and robby wasn't wearing shoes lol . but john can't sing that high anymore :(

  • I thought Woodstock was in 1999, not '98?

  • You can't hear Robby :( But apart from that cool video :)

  • I agree, 25 cent soundmen... you'd think they'd be ontop of this being Woodstock '98 n all.

  • I agree! That's the best part of the song.

  • lol random but, why does john push the backup guitarist with the telecaster? lol

  • Lol, that's a rock band for you.

"TURN ME UP I WANT TO B LOUDER."

    "NO, SHUT UP!"

    Etc..

  • John's awesome, but you can't hear the other guy singing the title words all that well, which is my favorite part of this song.

  • Best. Band. Ever. Love the goos! kick ass song.

  • thanks for all the show it's great to hear this kind of songs live!
