@AdamAviation: Understood but range was not exclusively in HA's near term plans. They wanted a new plane with a little more range and a little more capacity. For the near term, the A330 suits their needs. In the long term, HA is looking for a plane with more range so they have invested in the new A350.
Sorry, but I disagree. This version of the A330 is superior to the 767-300 or 777, or even older A330 versions. Compared to Y class on a 777 for example, you're never one seat away from the aisle in Y class on the 330. The 330 is also quieter than the 777, especially if you are seated behind the wings.
@AdamAviation The a330-200 could do the 6674 nautical miles trip from honolulu to porto in portugal... however Hawaiian doesn't even past the US west coast. So what exactly justifies the cost of a 777? Just because you think it's cooler or some subjective notion it's "bettter"?
Lord: Boeing fans are so silly. Get this: both boeing and airbus are great, they just do things differently.
@Foxx1981 No were did I say the 777 is "cooler". If you read the comment I was replying to, you will see he is not referring to Hawaiian Airlines in the first comment. He states that the A330 is superior to the 777 and in some aspects it is, I think the A330 is a beautiful airplane. All I was pointing out was that the Boeing 777 has longer range than either variants of Airbus A330. I absolutely agree that a 777 would be pointless for HA, but I was simply pointing out it has superior range.
i recently flew the air bus and dont get me wrong is beautiful and has many options, but id rather have the Boeing 767 - 300. Hawaiian should have got the 777
Can't wait to fly on this new baby!!! She looks awesome and Hawaiian's colors are beautiful!!! Just hope the prices stay reasonable and fair, being that it's a new aircraft.

Mahalo for posting this. I don't even recall the 717 or 767 getting a water cannon salute when they were delivered. This is awesome!
