My own thoughts are that The baron was close to his end ether way from the enemy plane or Ground AA but more likey from the enemy behind hm The baron himself told his own pilots rules of the dogfight "never allow yourself to have a enemy on your tail" 2 always have alt above all else. if your near the ground you have 1 less place to move giving the enemy your next move Alot of the barons moves and rules are still used today

he was brought down they believe by anti aircraft gunner but the long dispute of who killed the red baron is due to the fact that they used the same cartridge... the british .303 both in the machine guns mounted on the aircraft that and by gunners on the ground they were unable to determine if he was shot from behind by captain brown or by the austailian aaa gunners either way Manfred von Richthofen was both a great fighter pilot and nobleman

@drk4tlf During the air battle over Somme river he was flying very low and he had been shot down by an australian foot soldier. There is a documentary film about his death (Death of the Red Baron).
