StarFox 64: Area 6 Medal Run

i just had a darn epic battle here. i had 307 points and just before i faced the boss i broke one wing lost the hyper laser. i barely won after a long fight and got the last medal as i already had the venom medal

Gotta miss games like this that were sooo awesomely frustrating, that cramped your hands for a week and caused you to bite your lip til it was swollen...Good times ^^

@MrJSIG What I could recommend, is coming from Macbeth, and not Sector Z. Your wingmates aren't targeted as often, and would be coming into Area 6 with more health.

Come to think of it, I think the only wingmate to be targeted on Macbeth is Falco, once, and that's just a single fighter.

@milesprower06 Yeah is that I already had the Medal in Macbeth... I was missing Sector Y, Aquas, Zoness, Sector Z and Area 6 (yeah kind of the "hard way") And I tried to get them in a row but Slippy got beat up in Sector Z

@MrJSIG What I had to do for a couple levels, namely Sector Y, Zoness, and Area 6, was specifically aim for those medals during a run, so I'd stockpile bombs and use them just for that one level. Tedious, but it helps in a pinch.

Thanks to the 3DS version though, I now know that a medal on Venom 1 is indeed impossible, as the Gold Medal requirement on Score Attack is 180.

@MrJSIG I'm very satisfied with it so far. My only complaint would be not with the game, but with my huge hands and the 3ds buttons - I can't mash the buttons as fast as I could the N64 and GC controllers, so I have to rely more on the 3-shot burst of the twin and hyper lasers, and time the button presses to keep the fire rate at it's highest.

I'm wondering how to get some of those Gold medal scores on the 3ds when you start with the single laser and you can't stockpile bombs.

Did it! Not with Hyperlaser and 9 Bombs from the start, with the frigging Standardlaser and 3 bombs, after a few tries and restarts! Got up to Hyperlaser, but eventually lost a wing at the end.

304 kills, endboss with Standardlaser and almost no energy was a frigging pain <.<

Now off to Titania, and helloo! new Multiplayermode :)

Just to let you all know. Regardless of which controller you use for this game, whether it's being played on the N64 or the Wii's Virtual Console, if you hold the button down for a bit, you can shoot about 3 beams at once.

Found out no matter how good you are if you dont have hyper or twin lazeers at the start and a good supply of smart bombs, their ain't no way your scoring 300. Ugh now I gotta start all over just to have a CHANCE of trying to get the medal again... >.<

lets see u try doing this level on expert...u take more damage, there r more enemies shooting at u, and one hit to the wing and u lose ur wing...and when u lose ur wing u lose ur laser...which makes very hard 2 take out venomiens...

I hate the boss in this level. He took me too long to beat so I only got hit+2 and it left me with like 290 something.

Finaly I got 357 just throwing bombs at the space mines and at everything I see.

the easy way to get it is having 9 bombs, use the brakes and use them in the space mines lol

Not bad for a VC run (the control stick feels so damn slippery in VC for whatever reason).

You should try to go for 511. The VC caps out here.
