@TheDJilly Couldn't agree more with you there. Had Namco not joined with Bandai I think we would have gotten it uncensored. Also had they waited the usual 12-18 months to get it localized instead of only 2 it may have been uncensored too. Looking at this compared to what there is today its tame and could have probably passed off as a T. Either way I think they should have released it as is, after all I don't think it could have hurt more than it helped.

@justolicia They were trained to kill. Remember when Shion's father was trying to tell Margulis that they (whatever series they were) weren't ready for combat yet? That's becuz they couldn't tell an enemy from an ally yet becuz they weren't complete. All they knew at the moment was how to kill.

Xenosaga 1 had bunches and bunches of blood.....i mean xenosaga is a much bloodier game than half life 2 and thats rated m. i remeber lots of games having blood while being rated t in the 90s and early early 2000s ands thats why that was the greatest gaming eras of forever....i hope modern warfare 2 servers shut down and that bioshock 2 gets cancelled....nuff said..........................­.........

I would have prefered that Xenosaga 3 have been given a Mature rating than have majority of it's crucial scenes have the blood taken out. Keep it consistant with the first two games.

they probably could ahve included a least a bit of the blood. I remember seeing blood in the first game, but in the third, I think there was pretty much zero blood. there is plenty of other games reated T that feature blood and gore, and in some scenes, like the Jin one, it helps the scene make a lot more sense. you don't get stabbd twice with a sword only to have no mark and a clean sword.

I played the japanese version first and I remember the violence really took me by surprise because the previous 2 games were tame in comparision.

They obviously wanted a teen rating for the US market so the blood got the boot

HOLY SHIT, in the Shion with her mom and dad, damn, thats a lot of blood! I can see why they censored that, but come on! Why the tiny bit in little Shion's hands, or when Jin died?

That would have helped the scene make more sense, but it still kills the drama somewhat.

If you want a tell a story, you do it with details. Tha amount of blood in this scene would help reinforce the tragedy it's supposed to represent.

Taking the blood out where it's actually important isn't protecting anyones innocence, it's just making a mess of things.

I understand sensoring pointless violence, but I don't agree to sensoring things integral to a scene.

In the NA version, it just shows her face and the steam comes up a bit higher. Apparently, a little but of boob and back is something that the ESRB had a fit over.

I mean seriously, the part where the Gnosis attack the Woglinde in Xenosaga I was riddled with blood and gore. People lying in pools of blood and gnosis would STILL be stabbing at them long after they were dead.

I agree with you, most horror movies nowadays are like twenty times more gory than this. But what makes me angry is that they censor scenes that practically NEED the blood for part of the scene to make sense.

Like the part where young Shion is cupping her mother's blood in her hands saying "I have to put it back", without the blood the player is left to wonder "You have to put WHAT back? All you're holding is freaking air!".

Does the Japanese version have English subtitles or did you put those subtitles yourself? great video by the way and I can't believe they censored this much in the North American version, I haven't even played 2 yet so this was more or less a spoiler but I played the first one when it came out (I had it) and it was amazing, I got late in the game but I never finished it, got stuck somewhere (I can't remember at the moment) and then a year later I sold my PS2.

I was disappointed when I learned they edited out every single drop of blood. Granted, they were pretty bloody, some of the scenes just needed it. Especially the scene with little Shion holding the blood in her hand. By removing it, they took away a good chunk of the intensity of the scene. I would have been happy if they just kept that blood.

Also, when I clicked this video, I was thinking you put the english audio over the japanese video. Oh well.
