Best way is to fry your tofu squares. Take them out, blot them. Mix up a batter and dunk your fried tofu squares in it. Then gently place them in very hot oil to fry the batter on. Leave them in there for a short bit and then lift them out. Try it, works great! 20+ yr veggie here.

@VillainousPuma the taste of meat isn;t bad...its the affect of the meats on the human body. Countries with a high rate of meat consumption also have high rates of cancer and vice versa. so the taste isnt the problem.

@VillainousPuma im a vegan and i also think it is dumb that some of us want our tofu to taste like meat.when i was a meat eater i was always a picky eater with meat and i stop eating it because it makes me sick eating meat [ due to my picky eating problem].i also didnt like the idea of eating an animal.now i avoid any vegan foods that taste to close to meat.i saw that a comapny actually made a vegan whole chicken that look like a real chicken that people have at thanks giving!

@cherri7 What is it that tastes like meat? barbecue, chili, spicy, sweet, etc.. all the these things are flavor irrelevant of meat. When I bbq veggies the neighbors come running thinking it's meat. Goes to show you that cooked smelling things humans have associated with meat, often incorrectly. Just because something is flavored doesn't with barbeque or spicy flavor has no bearing on animal flesh. You need to disassociate tasty, bbq, smokey flavor with meat.20 years + veggie experience talking.

I usually get the pre-made nuggets at places like Wal-Mart and Publix by Morning Star Farms but tofu can be purchased at stores like that too. Tofu is best because you can create all sorts of yummy meat egg and dairy substitutes!
