They've said this, straight up; our involvement in the Middle East since WWII, especially during the Cold War, resulted in blowback, eventually leading to the tragic 9/11 attacks. I agree sitting back and doing nothing wouldn't have been a good idea, but when being there in the first place caused the problem, is it really productive to invade a country there which wasn't even behind the attacks?

In fact, he campaigned on the Iraq timeline (which they are on schedule with, btw) and ADDING troops to Afghanistan. Then, he said a drawdown would begin in July of this year. I don’t know where you’re getting that info from, but it’s dead wrong.

@demmmmm1 There's video on YouTube of Obama promising to bring the troops from Afgh on day one early in his campaign but he did change his mind later in the campaign. Even when he did pull the troops out of Iraq, he left loads of permanent bases and 50,000(!) residual troops.
Bush was mostly responsible for unemployent but Obama (like Bush) supported the bailout of all of his banker buddies on Wall St immediately aftert being elected. Geitner, Emanuel etc. in his administration(!!!)

@vidmanx0 On unemployment. You really can’t say O’s responsible for this unemployment. Most of the jobs were lost under GW. We’ve been steadily adding jobs, but way too slowly.
One thing we know for sure - gutting spending is NOT going to create jobs. The Repub plan cuts 700,000 jobs at the onset. No jobs bill yet - nothing.

@Giby86 Bush wasn't directly involved, but yeah,it's all true. It was people in Bush's staff who outed a secret agent for the U.S. government, because her husband came up with a report that they didn't like. Valerie Plame had worked for the CIA for a really long time, lead double lives, and did the whole spy thing, and Cheyney and Libby had her identity revealed. Outing a spy in America is treason, which is punishable by death.
