  • nice bass !

  • What's the tuning? I just got a 5 string bass what the normal tuning? I'm a drummer so...

  • Jees that must be hard to play. Right?

  • You are amazing my friend.

  • You got to tab the part after the "wrong part" cause i cant get that down

  • what kind of bass guitar is this??

  • the last part with the all the hammer-ons and speed was really pretty amazing (and the rest of course too).

  • @mikedrud thank you !

  • dude this is amazing. im just startin out my bass and i got a long ways to go but this gave me a lot of inspiration to just keep at it. ur one hell of bassist.

  • @grave040 thanks a lot, have fun with your bass :)

  • great man :)

  • Just so you know, you were so much better than the other guy.

  • @SiCF1ST I really don't think so :)

  • @remiiiiiii Yoy should think so, because you really were.

  • @remiiiiiii but yes u did do a great job.

  • @SiCF1ST better then Justin?

  • what kind of bass is that and how do you get it to sound like tool

  • ur cool andy78624

  • playing bass with a pic?????????? My bassist can do this w/o a pic

  • @andy78624 no shit ? I can play this with my dick, do you think it will sound the same ?

    song-played-with-a-pick-by-tool. End of story.

oh well, it's friday (fridaaaaaaaay) maybe you're just trolling :D

  • @remiiiiiii i gave you 2 thumbs up bro

  • @andy78624 A bassists toolbox should include a pick, when the sound of a pick is required :)

  • can u give me the tabs

  • cool bro, in Russia with respect

  • how the hell could 28 people dislike this??? Awesome job, remiiiiiii!

  • i just came

  • Wow with sound like that :D

  • this fucking rules!!

  • Quick question Im an aspiring Youtuber who wants to make covers and collab. I have a good Camera, good Bass, and I have skills, just how do u record your bass and make it sound so good? Any programs?

  • @TylerZeBassMasta check my profile. I record the video and the audio separatly. for the audio I'm using Cubase, and then I mix the video and the audio with avidemux ;)

  • @remiiiiiii Is this freeware? Any links? and btw great cover!

  • @TylerZeBassMasta cubase is not a freeware. You can find avidemux using google, a convenient website

  • I was looking for demos with the Boss ODB-3 bass pedal and through a random chain of videos stumbled across this and wanted to tell you great job. 90% of covers on Youtube are crap and people who just started playing and just have terrible videos in general. This is not one of them. I learned so much about this song watching you play. Thanks for the quality video!

  • @MrDontplaydead27 thank you very much :)

  • All ur bass cover are to good man

  • what about the bass whammy portion you need that effect too

  • @stbreal check the live version (clic on the popup at the beginning of the video), I have it now.

  • @remiiiiiii oh sweet thanks

  • Its in drop d

  • awesome playing, is it standard tuning? because i cant seem to find the right sound for the begginning

  • Great job dood

  • Супер!! Dude и правда Brilliant!! :)

  • perfect, one question, how exactly do you do the kinda distorted/ambient notes during the slow down bit? great job!! :)

  • @TheAlmightyTalty at what time ?

  • @TheAlmightyTalty delay + distortion :)

  • Wow !!

    Brilliant dude.

  • really good sound!bravo!

  • Yo, nice cover dude, I play this song too, I play fingers though, but i don't care about using picks or not, but nice cover man

  • Really well done.

  • To which you are tuning??? Very good job man:D

  • @skoggtroll thanks :) DADG

  • Can i borrow your hands for just a minute?

  • @Disturbedphobia of course :)

  • This inspired me to learn this. Thank you.

  • is that alternate picking style?

  • everybody is allowed of there opinion but with such an opinion atleast make a video about how to do it "correct"

shit loads of really good bass players use a pick !

some people prefer with and some people prefer without

i think a song like this for example needs a pick

but like most songs of idk korn or mudvayne the best is without !

  • Wish i had a comment finder... That oso03211994 pissed off alot of ppl xd

  • Comment removed

  • @Leandro5S hey thanks ! :)

    your covers are good !

  • what kind of bass is that, its nice. :)

  • i'm really sad that the guitar hero version has more views than this...

  • omg wheres the bong, this puts me in a smoking moood

  • Nice, look my Justin Chancellor tribute!

  • My mind has thoroughly been blown, Great job brother. Pretty sick cover!

  • pretty clean, good improv with that vol knob

  • the thing that cares is that it sounds good

  • Getting a bass as soon as next week for my birthday. This is going to be one of the first songs I play on it.

  • @totallychiky good luck, being a bass player as my self and starting out trying to learn this song this song fucked me overand took me a while to learn

  • @yamato540 I got it Sunday afternoon, and thanks~

I've been taught a little by my friend on hers, so I have it down a little better than if I'd started by myself.

Anyway I love this song and this is a good cover :3

  • After a pick player broke my A string

I probably won't ever use one.

  • Nice job, but I absolutely cried at your hand position.

  • i sat in a music shop playing this on a bass...btw i dont play bass.....but i might buy a bass, i cant stop picking them up......by the looks of it though its in a lower tuning so i know i wasnt playing it right

  • what type of bass is this?? ::3

  • @boomerbubbles33111 Music man sterling

  • I don't know if the song is easy to play or you just make it look easy, but great job. :-)

  • things i did after i saw this:

    1.liked

    2.subcribed

    3.masterbated

4.prayed i could play this as good as you

XD jk but still amazing job dude

  • @TheJetsFan4Eva hahaha :D thanks

  • I had to play along :D

  • Niceee :)

  • This is... astounding.

As to that middle part, better to try and not have the perfect sound than to not try at all. :P

Otherwise, you have it down quite nicely.

  • Man, That's reeeeally good))))

  • A good bass player always knows that sometimes, it sounds the best with a pick :') Keep up the good work, this is better than I could hope to do it! xx

  • nice bass cover and who cares about the middle it sounds good either way :P i can sort of play this i need more practice ive only played bass for like a month

  • 1. I never knew this riff was bass as long as I've known this song.

    2. I'm buying my first bass this month, and this is beyond inspiring. :D

    Keep rockin'!

  • I play electric guitar and im just getting into bass and i dont play with a pick for either of them and i love the sound and the fact that you can actually feel the strings but i have nothing against picks they are amazing little things so anyone sayin bad things about them fuck off and listen to the music coz this is a pree damn amazing cover

  • Nice cover. I liked how you worked around the whammy.

pick or no pick, you do know that you have a pinkie finger right? and that you can use it to make the open riff more smooth?

  • the people who say using picks on bass is stupid are not bass players themselves or they dont know what they are talking about. using a pick gives you a distinct tone compared to finger picking. theres no way you could get this tone in this video by finger picking. theres nothing wrong with using a pick

  • You Guys are a bunch cock sucking asswipes with something shoved up way to far up your twats. who gives a f-in toss if hes playing with pick. get over yourselves. its sounds mean bro.

  • a real bass player knows playing with a pick doesnt make you bad

  • @TylerDPerkins I know that ;)

  • @TylerDPerkins Just... Limited.

  • @MrRichardBottom kinda...i personally like playing with a pick cuz it sounds good but i can play with my fingers

  • @TylerDPerkins Thank You

  • true that

  • @TylerDPerkins I personally played guitar way more than bass and it makes me a better bass player, and I like the sound of a guitar player-turned bass player. I like playing a bass like a guitar because it adds more dimension to the band ;)

  • @TylerDPerkins loving this comment haha

  • Awesome cover of Schism bro!

  • @oso03211994 lol.

  • @oso03211994 show me how you play it with these rude fingers of yours :)

  • @remiiiiiii Don't even let oso get a reaction out of you. He has no vids and he's subbed to machinima and call of duty. That just shows how "smart" he is.

  • @oso03211994 YOu are a complete idiot. There are different way to play a bass, depending on the situation. yes in many songs you play with your two finger in a downward position, but not all songs are played that way including slap bass. maybe before making your stupid comment you should have checked out the bassist of Tool and see that he uses a pick for this song.

  • @oso03211994 Pretty sure Tool's bassist uses a pick. I could be wrong, but it sounds like it.

  • @oso03211994 you can play bass however style you want wether it's finger style, pick, slap, or some weird style. I play with my fingers because that's my personal preference. don't say people suck because of their play style.

  • @oso03211994 You're being retarded over 1.3 inches of plastic. I only want you to know this.

  • @oso03211994 omg what are you talking about?even Justin Chancellor the bassist of Tool play this song with a pick and with other words you want to say that even Justin Chancellor is noob or something like this?then you suck and you really dont know what is this instrument called bass

  • @oso03211994 You know that this song was written and played with a pick, correct? Don't be an asshole unless you know your facts, mate.

  • @oso03211994 well good sir if u knew anything about playing bass guitar, you would in fact know that using a pick produces a punchy should when u play as the song above gives, and you would also know that a pick has its places in music on bass as much as guitar, and you would also know that Justin Chancellor ( the Tool bassist) uses a pick as well as many other bassist around the world. Now please pipe down and let the good man play the song, cause i doubt u can do better. have a good day sir.

  • @Xirzon Well said

  • @oso03211994 holy shit XD you're an asshole!!! Someone has sand in their vagina.

  • @oso03211994 What a hater.. ;o it helps to learn to use all different styles of playing the bass. i know its not that great to pick the bass strings but hey.. ;S it was a good cover.

  • @oso03211994 i sort of agree, but i use plectrum with and without for this song. so i think you've made a mistake.

  • @oso03211994 Ummmm...Dude...You realize Justin Chancellor (The bassist for Tool) played almost exclusively with a pick, the only exception being in 10,000 Days/Wings of Marie, where he used fingerstyle throughout part of the song, switching to pick off and on.

  • @oso03211994 You seem like an intelligent person. You call a guy you don't know a piece of shit because he plays an otherwise great cover with a pick. You're probably really cool. I'm sure you know everything in the world, even the fact that the very bass player from Tool uses a pick on all Tool songs, due to the agressive tone it yields and not because they're too lazy to use fingers. Dipshit.

On a non-sarcastic note, I actually find pick much more difficult than fingers. Kudos to you, remi.

  • @oso03211994 i play bass and i can do slap, pick, pluck, slam. bro you dont know what your sayin.

  • @oso03211994 the tool bassist uses a pick sometimes. you sir are ignorant

  • @oso03211994 I dunno, sounds pretty good to me bonehead.

  • @oso03211994 u really think so? I didn't think it was half bad. do me a favor and..... KEEP YOUR UNCENSORED SHIT 2 URSELF.

  • I think you might be ready for some Mudvayne, check out their album LD 50 and try not to strain a finger ")

  • Your pretty good man.

  • i love the sonng awesome work man its a beutiful bass piece

  • you're actually really good

  • i dig dawg. nice vid. great playing. nice a clean. One of the coolest songs for the bass

  • Tuning for this song I'd DADG

  • ....what's the tuning of your bass there? is it standard EADG?

  • i prefer to use my fingers as a huge geddy lee fan, but hey when you gotta use a pick you gotta use a pick, great cover...... funny thing is that Geddy used Wals from 1985 to 1991 and i was like, hmmm who else uses these monster basses, and what do ya know, my man chancellor

  • What are your Treble Mid & Bass settings on your amp? I can't figure it out. and my hammer ons always sound like shit when I play this song!

  • In love with that bass

  • A real bass player uses what they need to for a situation, like this guy

  • @13saxman thanks ;)

  • A real bass player knows when to use a pick, finger, or slap.

  • @ZestyNumNums true

  • how did you record the sound for this? And are you in a band?

  • @KatanaNOOBY I use my live setup (bass > effects > amp > cab), then I use the amp DI + a mic in front of the cab > into my audio card. I'm in two band yes, The Perfect Tool in boston + A brand new band in france ;)

  • yeah meshuggahs bass player definitely doesn't use a pick. trolol.

  • lol at the douche who gave the player shit for using a pick, but awesome cover man!

  • lol at the douche who gave the player shit for using a pick, but awesome cover man!

  • @Theterky pick = faster sometimes but o well he will never be this good

  • @Theturky a good bass player knows HOW to play slap, fingers, and pick............a great bass bass player knows WHEN to slap, use finger, or play with a pick.

  • @Badfish5554 I really like this sentence :)

  • @Theterky Jason newstead was a real bass player

  • @superslayerguy Victor Wooten was an imaginary bass player

  • Good job

  • after the wammy part its so hard for me any tips

  • @Theterky good point, i was thinking the same thing, i hate bass players who use a pick, that should be a criminal act :)

  • @Rocko3837 if playing with a pick was a criminal act then bands you couldn't hope to support even the side projects of would see their bassists locked away. this "right and wrong way" bullshit is just that. you're stroking a string, whether your bare skin touches it or you use a piece of plastic, it's only for the tone and style. for certain songs either one is necessary, and this just happens to be a song made with a pick. so take that bullshit and burn it.

  • @Theterky lol real bass player plays in time..he definitely does a great job :)

  • Nice vid! I'm trying to perfect this song myself! :)

  • Im not raging on you for playing with a pic, but why not use your fingers? Is it for that extra bounce you get when using a pick?

  • @LillenOlle it was designed to be played with a pick, so it would be quite difficult to be played with fingers and it would also sound very odd

  • @Lolz4Every1 Thank you for that information. I have been trying to learn this song on my bass, but have not gotten the right rythem in it. I think i might learn to play with a pick just to learn this song=)

  • @LillenOlle You get a much brighter sound with a pick. Fingers have a more dull sound.

  • awesome job man

  • i imagined this hard as fuck with a horse, well it cleared me lot of stuff

  • @Theterky

The song is played with a pick by the actual bass player, genius.

  • @Theterky Maybe cause the original song was picked, might be a good reason for him to use a pick? Maybe?

This is a fairly hard song to play. Can you play this fingerstyle?

    DK

  • Nice tone!!!!!

  • Sometimes you need to use a pick. This is one of those times.

    DK

  • subbed

  • @Theterky Do you know how many bass players use picks? Sure you can just use your fingers but then you wouldn't get the edgy sound that is required for this genre of music. Plus only learning how to use one technique is completely ridiculous. Also using a pick in some cases is more difficult than using your fingers.

  • I think you like tool ? ahah

  • @Theterky chrish squier was an idiot and he wasn't a bass player

  • @Theterky bass players use pics but sence u wanna be that wat learn to slap and pop

  • @Theterky your just jealous he is better than you grow up

  • @Theterky

You bloody twit. Try learning to half half the groove this guy has. This song is played with a pick, it takes skill to use a pick as well my shit for brains friend.

  • Damn this bass is lick is hella tricky! :D Great job :p

  • Got most of it go to tooltabs.net shows the best tabs for

    The song

  • @Theterky tbh i had the same idea until i realised that a good bass player can do both

  • omg why guys dislike this and give stupid subs omg best bass player i ever seen

  • @Theterky Try use your brain like a real human being

    Good job on that Remi

  • @Theterky justin chancellor uses a pick... retard and hes the bass player for tool
