  • angles mean strangels!

  • Dece

  • How are you going to pick someone up with your waist at a 45 and oxygen and blood being cut off at 3 arteries to the brain? Total kybrd warrior question.

  • @Gazavat212 Your Keyboard Warrior style versus my Xiaolin Style.

  • I tried this on my wife

  • too many keyboard warriors ;D

  • What if he picks you up and tries to slam you dowm that could lead to ko

you could only let go before he picks you up

  • @saiyenrace with every positive there comes a negative , it's the best thing about an mma fight, proves to be well trained and quick to avoid any throwdowns

  • @saiyenrace Hooking the leg will prevent this.

  • @saiyenrace most people also do not know that when they pick you up they give alot of time to tighten the choke like in Struve vs Barry.

  • I've gotta remember this when I go to my jujitsu class.

  • im a noob at bjj who cant pull off ONE submission when i roll. I usually roll with ppl who weigh way more than me and im only 126 pounds but i always put up a good fight and surprise ppl by the amount of abuse i can take, especially when im getting neck choked. These vids certainly give me the details i need to help close up the weak points i have. Kudos for the WIDE selection of vids and fairly straight forward too.

  • 13 people can't do a triangle choke nuff said

  • @80armywife More like 13 people have been triangle choked !

  • Hey, can anyone tell me ways of how to get more flexible for this choke? ive been trying for awhile but it always seems like i cant get my right leg flexible enough to get under my left. any tips?

  • I'm sorry no one should be disliking this video. There's no reason.

Just looking for something to complain about: haters.

  • i have trouble doing triangle chokes..

  • why you don't go to UFC \o/

  • another good set up is grapping your shin

  • That shirt is awesome!

  • i did the sweep by mistake the other day sort of by accident cos i couldn't finish the triangle

  • 1:52 .what if chokes u in the neck and start throwing blows with the other hand? how u suppose to sweep?

  • @MrGlen707 I would imagine that you'd hook the leg and dump him?

  • in your video Triangle Choke Escape #1 you say (when escaping the triangle) to turn towards the knee to escape. in this video though you say (when applying the triangle) to angle off towards the knee. which way should you turn to escape? if you turn towards the knee wouldnt you just be helping you opponent by making it tighter?

  • ur a good teacher ari (i think thats your name lol)

  • ive been training for 4 years and am really trying to improve my gaurd.. I know the technique to do the triangle.. but when rolling live.. everytime I go for the triangle I always end up in side control... can you help me bye letting me kno what im doing wrong

  • this should be taught in schools

  • @brennanww if this were taught in school thell be fights all the time

  • @apimpnameslipback1 nah i doubt it, the whole point of learning martial arts is it teaches you to not fight outside of the gym

  • @brennanww thats true thats true

  • used this move the other night and caught a bigger guy all thanks to the clear simple instructions from this excellent video clip, doin a great job fellas

  • 4 a dolla.

  • This is an excellent video for beginners and experts. With, I managed to actually win my local jui jutsu tournament

  • Thank god for this video.. I cant tell you how many triangle's iv lost due to stacking

  • awesome instructional

  • @Asa87

Your making an idiot out of yourself telling people to watch Ryan Hall, instead of Submissions 101.

Both are incredibly talented in breaking down the science of submission grappling.

The more instructionals out there the better.

  • Guys if you want to learn gold on the triangle choke, (the pressures, the angles and the posture) then watch Ryan Hall, not submissions101. Anyone who knows BJJ will like this.

  • that is what i call a great instructional video, nice work

  • Very nice, never seen an angle triangle.. I'll try that one:)

  • man your a really good teacher I always watch your videos. You explain everything very perfectly and it helps a lot in practice. That rash guard your wearing looks awesome too.

  • THX a lot....:)

  • i tried it against a lion in africa... now i pee from a little hole in my leg

  • I tried this against a blue belt mate today, who I can't normally pull this off on, and he turned bright red and tapped almost instantly! Again thank you soooo much 10th Planet System!

  • Thank you guys so much for this video! Angles=strangles! I was doing it the old way with great difficulty! Again thank you!

  • Would be a lot better if the camera angle was closer or from a different angle

  • Great video man, taught me alot. Now I know theres a huge diffrence from wwe, and this. WWE = fake haha. But theres a wrestler in wwe who the commentaries (spelled wrong) say he knows jujitsu... and his "finisher" is the andacondo vise... (spelled wrong again.. sorry) I don't know if that move is real.. or if he's doing it right if it is real... could you do me a HUGE favour, and look up "Cm punk andacondo vise" and tell me what's the deal with it? if its the right way? or even if it is real ty

  • @rseagles14 Definitely not a real submission, although it does resemble an "Americana". What he is doing would not actually submit or even hurt anyone at all.

  • @waffle611 haha you know, that's what I Thought! I'm like.. he's just pulling his arm behind him.... l0l. Thanks : )

  • @rseagles14 CM Punk is a huge puro fan, he got the move from Tenzan. He got the GTS from KENTA. MVP and Jericho are also huge puro fans, they got their moves from Chono and Marufuji respectively.

A lot of wrestlers have stories of how they got their finishers. Usually from other wrestlers.

basically what i am saying is that yes, the anaconda choke is a real submission used in Japanese Pro Fighting

  • @TheAdrenalineEffect if GSP is from Canada...that means there r probably 50,000 places to train Jiujitsu haha.....

  • Crystal clean info.Excellent teachings

  • is this move legal in wrestling?

  • wow thanks man everytime i do a triangle on somone they stack on me somtimes but now i know what to do thanks been doing bjj for like 4months been learning alot of things and winning lol well anyways thanks

  • Awesome video!! Thanks !!

  • You guys are awesome <3

  • Thanks. Helpful.

  • I wish I lived in Victoria BC because I'd rather train at 10th Planet than anywhere else. I love the no-gi training and the unique edge Eddie Bravo gives it. Not to mention Victoria BC has some killer weed.

  • My friend trained with the Gracie family and he only taught me the arm bar and triangle and told me to practice those two till they are second nature before going to anything else. This helps out in opening up those two moves more.

  • THANKS SO FKN MUCH! Now I can get some respect in my gym. >D

  • these guys BY FAR has the best vids!

  • I got in a fight with my brother in law because he hit my sister and the fight went to the ground. I used this and almost killed the guy. I didnt know when to stop. lol

  • I was rolling with a partner recently and I was having trouble finishing him with the triangle locked in. It was the complete opposite of someone who was too broad. He was a taller lanky guy and even when i angled off there was too much space for me to finish him. Any tips?

  • Thank`s gyes now a now what i turn Wrong :)

  • so if i may ask you guys if you make the opponent fall to the ground with the sweep, is the triangle not really effective since you are trying to get the armbar or mounted position?

  • @Nirvanalove1 Triangle works from the mount as well. Sometimes even better. Instead of pulling the head, push your weight down on the structure of the choke.

  • Thank you for the explanation of the triangle choke's effectiveness, I was curious ever since Anderson Silva used this move to win the last ufc bout

  • awesome videos dudes I've used a lot of the techniques learned from watching these submissions101 videos in competition

  • if i had a dog id train bjj with it

  • wat u guys live in victoria??? i live in vancouver sht u gotta teach me these stuff!

  • @kennethxx100 LOL same

  • I think being on bottom guard is batter than mount

  • ..ive been out of the game for sometime..trying 2 teach soldiers in iraq ..you guys have been a great help...thanks

  • wut do u do wen they stack up?

  • @Krazyazn881 it was showed what to do. look at 1:52

you just under hook the leg, angle your body and drop them.

  • You guys are bad ass.

  • You are awesome at explaining this. My joshu told me to look up other ways people explain triangle chokes. This is exactly the way he explained it every bit of step and motion was mentioned. and ANGLE=STRANGLE is what he said for tc haha

  • That was VERY informative.

  • Hey Guys,

Excellent vids and I really enjoy your methods of teaching. The details that you guys give are incredibly helpful and really make a difference. Keep it up!

  • what is your highest rated video?

  • my bad trying to learn how to comment, haha

  • Great job thanks guys for instructing a triangle choke bcuz this will help alot and does anyone know cn i use this in middle school wrestling i went 20-8 last yr in 7th grade but lost in the region championship this yr i wanna use this in my arsenal but i do not wanna lose via DQ so does anyone know if i cn use this or not?

  • wow i should have watched this a long time ago. i had a friend of mine in a triangle but i was having a hard time locking it and finishing. i never thought it was my body placement! thanks this helped out so much!

  • U guys r rly great

  • I'd just like to say thanks to you guys for making such great videos. I learned most of my ground game from watching you guys (Not many bjj classes in backwoods Arkansas :P) so yeah. Thanks. :)

  • Submission101 team: Can you explain more details about the posture of the top guy please. What I understood is that the top guys posture must be broken first, but what if I cant do that ?

    Thx

  • check this out .. type my name on the browser and watch how i win my first mma fight with this exact move on a match, ( Daniel Collier ).. lol i know most of the people dont even care =D

  • can someone tell me what the song title is in the beginning?thanks a bunch.

  • I cant stand it when your roll with someone new to jiu jitsu and you position before submission and they pick you up and slam you by using just brute strength .

  • amazing, thanks a lot, i love how in depth you guys explain things very helpful

  • you guys are great werwe are u located?

  • @axlnfinke Victoria BC Canada

  • @Submissions101 omg lol

  • @Submissions101 dude i live in Terrace B.C

  • @Submissions101 Victoria BC, F-OFF, I'm in Van, I'm gonna hit you guys up as soon as I have the chance.

  • @Submissions101

    canadians ...

  • @Submissions101 i'm moving back to BC :P

  • Do you do advice on takedowns?

When i take someone down, i tend to fall into a gullotine, and im good at getting out of them, i just want more options on the takedown to make sure it doesnt go pear shaped.

    Thanks

    ~David, (sixteen from Scotland)

  • Thank you so much! I usually get the triangel locked, but I cant finish them of especially bigger guys! But with your tip in ready to tap some ppl out ;)

  • @TheAdrenalineEffect

Hey man, Black Devil MMA is opening up in downtown Toronto. I'm not sure where you are in Canada, but if you're in the GTA, it's a great school to check out.

  • Wow, thanks alot for this video! This is gonna help alot with my triangles! I wish you guys had an iPod touch/iPhone app!

  • @TheAdrenalineEffect Ummm...Canada is a rather BIG place my friend. You have used google and could find anything?

  • @Submissions101 i would love to learn BJJ... mostly this system.. but i live in a small town so it kind of limits me....

  • @Submissions101 Canada is like the second biggest country in the world.. lol

  • I am very intrested in getting into MMA which is why ima be gonna be joining this gym in a few months too learn all the muay tai and bjj i need to be sucessful. This video was very helpful on how to perfectly execute a triangle

  • At 1:37, which leg are you underhooking? The one closest to your head or the other one? Is it the same one you underhook when he stacks you?

  • how do u know if your in the right moment or position to do it.

  • @paulinbin360

Anytime there is a space between your opponent and your butt during guard is a good time to put one of your opponents arms behind your legs and posture up onto your upperback/neck and wrap the legs around the neck/under other arm. Also if they are attempting to pass your guard by going under your legs(underpass), they are basically putting themselves into a triangle choke.

  • can you please make a video on a triangle choke from the rubber guard...

  • @DikkiSeamen We have one. Look up the meat hook triangle.

  • this is really good

  • Comment removed

  • this has helped a lot thanks

  • any tip if your opponent is heavyer and stronger than you? already i can put the triangle but i cant handle is right hand for finish him with the choke or an armbar...

im like 130-140lbs aprox and the guys of the gym are something like 170-200lbs...

  • Try to pull the arm with full power for like 2-3 seconds, then relax until you feel him relax and then tug. Hopefully you'll catch him off guard and lock it. Good luck!

  • triangles are difficult on big guys, if you do get it use it as an advantage position and try to go for an armbar or just wait and see what he does if he makes a mistake counter it, bait, dont try too hard for the submission or they're definitely going to get out of it

  • @180Quickick thanks i did that and locked in an armbar, and works fine! i submited him about 3 times

  • Very informative, hopefully I absorbed some of this.

  • you tought it very well, thanks

  • he looks like a power ranger

  • @sheep2slaughter with great pecs!

  • this guys a gr8 fukn teacher

  • your rashguard is so cool

  • i was wondering where he got it from to be honest .. you know you'll be the most pimpin mofo, when you walk into class with that one

  • its quite simple: push arm in, put foot around head, wrap your hand under your foot thats around his head, push his other arm to the other side and there is ur triangle. just keep watching this or the wicked triangle one.

  • thanks, guys!

  • best freakin choke evar!!!

  • try scooting backwards and flexing ur legs tighter

  • hey man sorry to be the guy who asks obnoxious questions but what if they stack slower with out going to standing more of a roll to the neck? it makes it a little more difficult when they have a lower center ya know?

  • the triangle choke is the only main submission i am severally unfamiliar with. this is very well done. many valid points made. and i was always puzzled what to do once my opponents stakes, and hooking the ankle for the sweep is brilliant.

    haha angle equals strangle. nice.

  • thanks for the video. I've only ever tapped someone out with a triangle once. Whenever I go for it, it's very easy for my opponent to escape and get side control. I need alot of work with it.

  • thanks for the cool video. Hope you continue more.. :) -Ezer Yutuc

  • the triangel choke is the most spectacular.

  • I love the Triangle Choke its my Fav Submission from Guard besides the straight Armbar from Guard.. But the reason why I love the Triangle the most it is the most Versatile Submission cause you can go for a Armbar or a Kimura or even better

Transition to a Gogoplata as well

  • meh, triangle choke is relatively easy to escape if you go for the sit&pry escape. Or, if you are somebody who isnt choked out easily, you can hook their heel with your leg and make THEM tap.

  • Not sure what you mean by hooking their heel with your leg.

  • thanks this will help me alot

  • can you punch him in the head while trying to submit him or do you get disqualified

  • if it is mma trying to punch your way out of it is prolly this worst thing you can do. cuz while your trying to land those punches, they are gettin that choke even tighter.

  • and your also concentrating on getting landing those punches that you forget he can get a better choke on you.

  • I've been doing jits for a few months now. It seems like i'm a one trick pony, I'd say 80-90% of my submissions are from triangles, either from guard or from mount, and the other 10% comes from the occasional RNC, Arm Bar, Guillotine, and Anaconda. I've never done an omoplata before.

Grr, I don't know how I can expand my game, I almost always automatically go for the triangle lol

  • You've got to work around that man. Go a whole week and every time you go for the triangle, let it go and go for something else completly different.

  • thanks you guys alot, i never could get my triangle choak tight enough, and found it hard to the their arm across. this helpes alot, thanks for the tips.

  • Do you mind sending me the link for those shirts too

  • triangle choke is the shit!

  • whats the best thing to do when somebody stacks your guard or triangle? to the point where its uncomfortable and your legs open up

  • dude, where can i buy those amazing t-shirts you have everytime on your videos =\

  • We are having a sale on those rash guards right now! I will send you the link!

  • In my wednesday class, our instructor showed us a little trick where you have wrist control in guard. Instead of just pushing the wrist like you see here, you pull the arm across at the same time and push the other arm straight under your leg when you pivot. And instead of just pulling your right leg up over, you throw it up and over right into his neck.

  • Thanks for this video i never knew about hookin the leg when they stand up. I'm small so i always end up getting slammed.

  • Is It easier to get the tap on the mount or on the bottom because I seem to not be able to do it from either position. I'm still a little new to bjj but i still think i have done everything i can and still havent got the tap. I know that i got it tight im not sure if i havent pulled the arm across far enough or if im not pulling the head hard enough.

  • it's not about strength. you don't have it locked right. click---> :58

  • The most common mistake I see is not turning your body and trying to choke by just pulling down and squeezing. Try (like ari says) angling your body.

  • Are you taking classes?

Cuz i took a free class today and i love it... I learned Armbars from the mount. and Triangles and armbars from the guard soo and it was my first day... You just need to practice it with a friend and make sure you angle so you lock it in.

  • i think its easier to get the tap from the bottom. when he goes in for a punch u are able to grab his arm, but make sure to grab his wrist for obvious reasons. make sure u dont his arm all the way in or else hell be closer to u when u have the triangle all set up it will be easier for him to pick u up and slam u

  • where is your guys gym located

  • by any chance have you meet alvis solis?

  • damn, that yellow submission 101 rash guard looks awesome

  • The head guy with the blond hair. The one basicly talking. Where are you fight videos?

  • I don't fight MMA. As for grappling competition videos, I haven't competed in many years but plan on getting back at it next year after my marriage and as long as my back holds out (blew out my L5 a couple years back...that was fun ;-)

  • That sucks man! Srry to hear that. Well what is your name so I know to look for you? Also Wondering if you can check out my videos see what you think. But yeah whats your name and dates. Also congrats on the Marriage! much respect ryry

  • is the triangle choke made to choke your opponet using their own arm? you just apply the pressure

  • Im pretty sure its a vascular choke, cutting off blood with your leg opposite their arm

  • yep i beleive youre right

  • kinda like kata gatame except with the legs

  • Excellent. Angles mean strangles. well put.

  • If your on an angle and your opponent is still substantially larger than you, the triangle doesn't just fall in to place, can you just pull the toes like you mentioned at 1:11?

  • yea ,i was just grappling with one of my friends a few hours ago, he weighs 230 and i weigh 135 pounds, hes much larger than me, so even when I angled my body i still had to grab my foot with my left hand to pull it down and hold it in place so I could lock in my other leg and finish the choke, and i choked him out 3 times.

  • thanks!

  • lookin buff

  • thanks! sick video

does anyone know the song in the beginning?

  • Overseer - Slayed

  • being mounted with your opponent on your arms isn't that hard to get out of...

bridge up (throwing them off balance), and slide one arm out as your opponent attempts to re-position. from there begin shrimping until you have both arms out. then simply trap one of your opponents arms, bridge, and roll to the side.

its not fool proof, but it is easily do able.

  • yes thats the way i escape the mount, it is very simple and effective

  • true that!!

  • "angles mean strangles" i ll keep this one in mind :D

  • angles mean strangles... that's a good one!
