I hate how people leave negative comments on stuff like this. I find it impressive to be honest. He knew the risk and decided to go for it. On one of his jumps, 2 ropes got crossed and the friction burned through the ropes and he fell. Not the safest sport ever, neither is free soloing..
Thos guy practiced and memorized the climb. Im a climber, and for me the best climber is alain robert. He is slower but he never knows what awaits him, and he uses his weight and emplacements perfectly

The rope that failed was used several times that day and the day before on short jumps. Some valuable safety precautions were missed but to say he deserved it... If you get in a car accident and die do you deserve it? I would argue that driving a car is playing with fire also.

he died after doin the highest free dive which is jump of a cliff attached to a rope but he decide he had to do it again and like 2 weeks later came back with his friend and did it but this time the rope snapped
this guy knows this rock like the back of his hand. you can tell hes done it hundreds of times.....camera placement...chalk on the rocks he hasent touched yet...knowing when to jump...but i gotta hand to him that take only pure talent and cofidence.

I'm not trying to make his achievements any less. I mean, it takes alot of stamina to complete that climb in that time. But other then that it's really no different from running a marathon.

This wasn't some dash on some unknown rock, but a well established climbing route. He knew exactly how the route is climbed and where the holds are. Technically the climb isn't that hard (the grade is 5.7), but free soloing is always a bit more demanding than climbing with protection.
The funniest thing is... a man that climbs without ropes at high speeds, died because his rope failed! ... That should teach us not to bungee jump with our climbing ropes.

There are tons of good climbers, calling this guy the best is sort of selling all of the other great one's short. Plus, "roped free" falling is/was just a stunt and is a terrible way to go for such a good athlete.

Start off with something like 3 or 4 numbers below what you can lead on trad gear. Block out your fear, but keep it with you; it's your friend that keeps you from doing anything too risky. Then focus on accuracy and rhythm.

this cliff is at least 150ft so yea, i would call it suicidal. (aspeciall since i weight 225... it's not that easy for me to pull off such crap).
a human is mistake-prone and even a bit of sweat on your arms can fuck up your grip and plunge you into a 100-200ft drop...
so yea, i would call any free solo climb above 10ft suicidal. i live only once and my life is worth more than a wall that i have to climb.

Dan Osman did not die through any fault of his own. He died because of equipment failure.
He was doing a rope jump, sort of like a bungie jump but with a rope and the rope broke.

best rock climber ever - hardly. I would have liked to see him follow John Bachar around back in the day. There are tons of good climbers, calling this guy the best is sort of selling all of the other great one's short. Plus, "roped free" falling is/was just a stunt and is a terrible way to go for such a good athlete.

Huh? If you are talking about how Dan died, he was doing a roped free-fall in Yosemite, something he'd done many times, and the rope failed. So, in a way, yes he did fall, but not climbing.

Amazing. Truly amazing. But why do it without rope. Why take the risk. Okay, so your a freakn awesome rock climber but one missed hold and its picture wrap on the "best climber."

@brbruner It's hard to understand until you give it a go. I know that sounds cryptic and sort of pretentious, but it's just the truth. Start off with something like 3 or 4 numbers below what you can lead on trad gear. Block out your fear, but keep it with you; it's your friend that keeps you from doing anything too risky. Then focus on accuracy and rhythm.
