It was the first movie with Katherine Hepburn I watched and I still think it´s her very best.

This is certainly one of the best movies ever -but this is the case with almost ALL Howard Hawks movies

@MrAlGator It really is one of the best ! Hawks was great ... no doubt about it. I think Grant is absolutely perfect in this movie. One of my all time favorites.

Would anyone know which version is used in the movie?? It was released in 1938 and Doris Day's version is from 1958. There are so many versions of it but if anyone knows the precise one used in the film, it would be a great help. Thank you

@malanos I have no idea. I know Cary and Katharine sing it ... but other than that I don't know. It's one of my all time favorites too !

The critics hated this movie when it first came out so it confirms that the critics had no heart or sense of fun and adventure and were stupid then cause this was supposively one of Katharines bad movies according to their stupid lame reviews why anyone who watches this movie will be left with a sense of you dont want David and Susan to leave you at the end of the movie! Great job by everyone!!!!

@tonyd953 You're so right .. not a hit when it came out. But it sure has become a classic favorite ! I think Katharine was in her "box office poison" stage. Not sure who decided that ... she sure showed them with The Philadelphia Story !

@Dayniac4324 Yes i think i am.....as to the 'box office poison stage' you mentioned, i think that because of Katharine's standoffish behavior at that time in hollywood, the critics decided early on that the were going to crucify this brilliant 4 time academy award winning genius...as well documented she wasnt down with the studio routines of photo shoots and autograph signings so the critics wrote that and in turn audiences resented her snobbish attitude, however ive recently seen

"Morning Glory", "Little Women", The Little Minister", "Break Of Hearts", Sylvia Scarlett", "Stage Door", "Quality Street" and "Holiday" I thought that Break of Hearts and Quality Street were a little slow even though i enjoyed Quality Street more, but i dont see the justification of her being termed box office poison, "Morning Glory got her the 1st academy, Little Women and Sylvia Scarlet were good movies, The Little Minister is where i thought she should have won

another academy for, shes absolutely great and beautiful in that role! and i had to fight back the tears in that one, "Alice Adams", and "Stage Door" were hits and i thought "Holiday" was pretty good too so unless her first film "Bill Of Divorcement" and "Christopher Strong" and "Mary Of Scotland" directed by John Ford were so bad, i dont think it was right to term her box office poison just because she didnt want to play the Hollywood game like everyone else,
