If only swords were still "the real deal" i think the problem with Swords is the fact that the sword is only as good as the man/woman wielding it. Nice review thankyou :)
My hamon on that sword is kind of fucked up at the end like it goes straight for the most part but then when it gets to the end it does like swirve to the left towards the edge on the the right side.
I've got three in a stand I got for $40 that are good for decoration. But I'm definitely getting this one next for $150, and then the Cheness Kaze Katana for $260 and then for durability a Cold Steel Warrior Series Katana for $300 on amazon, all together totaling at $720! Cheaper by $100 or $200 for what I'd thought it would cost for a sword just like one of these! Incredible! I did a lot of research and like the qualities of these three enough to not be able to choose just one. Great deal!
the shape of the hamon really does not speak to the quality of a sword, traditionally the hamon was a signature of the swordsmith based on the pattern in which they applied the clay before the final heat tempering and eventual quenching. The different shapes of hamon were however believed to make a difference in the strength of the cutting edge and flexibility of the blade overall. Nice sword, ive been debating buying one but i am looking for something of better quality, even if it costs more..
I really like your reviews. With no offence you have this "Kermit the Frog" sounding pleasing voice which I actually like. In regards to the sword, I Have the white version of it and the build quality is really excellent. Having said that the newer Hanwei Ninja-to's (Kouga and Iga) are a real feast for your eyes. I have ordered the Kouga version but will also obtain the Iga version also.
@gstucuman Actually - and somewhat surprisingly - the hamon on this particular sword IS a real temper line produced by the differential heat-treating, not just an etched or wirebrushed decoration like you see on most swords in this price range. It's not particularly lively or appealing, to be sure, but it is real.
Back when i was 10 years old, i went to my friends house and his parents had some crazy katanas in their living room and i took one off the stand and held it and it was a great feeling. i dont know what happened at that moment but ive wanted a katana ever since then.
It wasn't the weapon of choice for war, more like a secondary "sidearm" for troops armed with either the yumi (bow & arrows), yari (spear or lance) or naginata (a polearm with a wide katana-like blade).
But anyways... Interesting review and wondrous little sword. I might want to add this bad boy to my new collection!
Warning to people who want to buy this sword, It doesn't look this nice out of the box. You gotta clean of the piss colored grease wax shit, which I might add stains the blade making it appear much crappier than it is, you need to polish it a couple times, and put metal protector on it.
Also be very careful, the weight of the sword being so light its very easy to angle it wrong, dont do hollywood shit with it, you will cut yourself. I stabbed myself in the calf within the first hour owning it.
well you're lucky, Mine was covered in gunk, I also bought it from Sword Buyers Guide recommended site Kult of Athena, after I told them about it and was considering a Return if a solution wasnt possible, and They were giving me shit for it.
They are lucky i was able to Polish the problem away, sword is nice, but fuck Kult of Athenas customer service
I would agree that they make a sharp durable battle ready sword.. but I think CS is overpriced and I dislike the company for a number of reasons... no disrespect to you though!
Np, there awsome to be honest, who cares if there holywood, they cut well, there just as deadly and there lighter and faster than the so called traditional ninjato's, which are in similar legnth to a katana but have a shorter blade and a longer handle, its a real play on gravity, good luck on your sword collecting.

That kind of straight hamon, also on the PC practical katana, is a suguha hamon. pronounced soogooha, kinda :P hope that was helpful :)

Im a little bit confused so many people refer to these swords as hollywood ninja-to
but at the same time I recently saw some pics of a japanese ninja museum wich
had these verey same kind of swords or did they sell out too?

The fit and finish on mine was fine considering it is a sub $200 holywood ninja sword. It is very fast and very sharp though... hope your leg is ok.

One thing, even 1,300 dolar "holywood" ninjato's will never have the waves near the hamon,
