add this too some used vegetable cooking oil add a little lye agitate it for a while, and remove the seperation and run your diesel engine on it, sort of.
If you separated the methanol contaminants from the ethanol than you could drink it. Otherwise if you are not sure, or don't quite know what you are doing I would not recommend drinking it. This video was only intended to show how easy it is to make ethanol. I don't drink at all, so no I haven't drank it. Their are some other people that have commented that has been making it to drink though.
can you accually drink this cause i made some and i don't want to like die or anything if i drink it??? have you tried it yourself and did you get drunk
@1997gangsterboy No, you should not drink it. It will contain impurities and other types of alcohols that should not be consumed. If I were you, I'd wait the few more yars until youre able to buy drinking alcohol legally. Better safe than hospitalized, I always say.
@mitch100455 Yes, if you make sure you throw away the methanol that is the first part to be distilled. Using this method does require that you pay attention to the vessel you are fermenting in. You will have to let the gas escape and might have to add sugar if gas production stops.
@turnerracing92c I am pretty sure you would have to make some engine modifications for it not to destroy your atv's engine. Also making it the way I did there is no way to tell how much water content is in it so I don't recommend using it in an engine. I really really think you should get the book I referenced in my last comment if you are interested in making alcohol for fuel gas it will tell you step by step everything you need. None the less congratulations on your first batch of ethanol.
@turnerracing92c I thought about trying some that I have out on a chainsaw engine that I don't care if I break. If I end up doing that I will let you know how it worked out.
@turnerracing92c Well for one you would want to make a high proof alcohol for engine use. In this video we don't even check the proof. 2nd you would want to put the alcohol through a filtering system to get out any fine particular matter.
@turnerracing92c There is a good book called "alcohol can be a gas" that would probably help you a lot. I suggest buying it or trying to find it in your local library.
@turnerracing92c I would use a better refining method before I put this in my vehicle or a sprint car. This video was basically made to show how easy it is to make ethanol. While the methods used in this video do produce ethanol there are much better ways to do it.
And find something to replace all the plastic. Alcohols + high temperature makes some pretty hardcore solvents that will eat through most plastics and anything made from petroleum.
That's a pretty clever way to make personal batches. I've always done it with a coil condenser but I've been running 10 gallons of mash at a time. One thing you might wanna watch out for is the small amount of METHANOL that will distill at the beginning (heads)
@panteraboy1988 I am personally aware of the presence of some methanol. I should probably add an annotation somewhere about that. Thanks for commenting.
@ay23ish ok moron first off i tried this it does work i have drinkin the end result and oh wait im typing to your stupid comment so i guess i can still see second no where does he say hes drinking it and 3 its just another way of distilling and methanol tastes very very sweet at first sip then turns harsh on the way down where ethanol starts with a little kick
you should add a disclaimer that no one should be drinking this. Alcohol is a solvent that reacts with plastic, using plastic or any synthetics in your still will produce a foul tasting alcohol that is very bad for you and can give you cancer
@soulevs and wrong way off moonshiner for 3 decades been putting the shine into PLASTIC milk jugs and all real shiners only use milk jugs cause there cheap
@joeman369 Visit the homedistiller forum and see "rules we live by" number 8. People who are much smarter than you disagree with you, and some of the absolute best in this business say youre wrong
So, eat shit and die, you ignorant retarded fuckbag
@soulevs well my friend i actually do this for a living and your ignorance makes me laugh i actually have tested 30 differant ways of distilling plus put the results in glass and plastic along with all metals your reading something someone else posted who are you to talk about something you only read about so enjoy your ignorant life believing what everyone else says
@applemonkey187 If you made 5oz of ethanol than throw away the first 1oz you distill. Methanol turns into a vapor at a much lower temperature than alcohol so is the first part to be distilled.
I would really really appreciate it if u would hit me up, there are a few things i ams still not certain about, your wisdom is much needed and would be much appreciated, thank you.
Does it matter how fast the alcohol condenses, does it introduce too much water, so on? I was wondering if the plastic hose was longer and wrapped around the metal bottle immersed in ice it should force the alcohol to condense faster but the moonshine's taste may get compromised.
@MrWirelesscaller The rate of condensation doesn't matter. At 175°F you really don't need to worry about bringing over water into the distillation vessel. Yes the colder you can get the hose the faster it will condense as far as changing the taste I don't think it makes a difference.
@codymoutlander if you keep the temperature at 172° Fahrenheit when all the alcohol is gone it will slow down and stop producing vapor. You could also calculate what percentages of alcohol you should end up with. I didn't do any measuring in this video thought. you want the middle of the distilled alcohol. So yes the beginning and the end you want to throw away if you intend on drinking. I didn't really make this video for that but to each their own.
Could one drink the product that was created before the distilling process? Admittedly it might taste a little odd but is it possible with no ill side effects?
@SHTFSurvivalist Even though the jug is touching the bottom of the pot? I tried this today and i was worried about that happening so i was standing there holding the jug in the water lol. Btw, youve got on of the easiest distilling proocesses on youtube, thank you.
@ADSaaron That is too funny. Yeah even though it is touching it will not burn through as long as you have the pot full of water and are using a milk jug. Do not attempt to drink this unless you discard the heads and tails because some methanol and acetone will be created during the fermentation process. The methanol and acetone will come off first because they have a lower boiling temperature than ethanol and water.
@joeterry2112 It is around 90% but I would have to check its specific gravity to have an exact measurement. Maybe in the future I will make a video showing how to do that.
You need a pressure cooker. The hose would fit on the nipple at the top. That and it's fun to boil the crap out of stuff when you're not making booze-a-hol.
From everything that I have researched about it. I understand that methanol can be present during the distillation process. Methanol has an evaporation point of between 160 and 165 degrees F. Whereas Ethanol has an evaporation point of 180 to 185 degrees F. While my exact numbers may be incorrect I do know that the evaporation point of methanol is far lower than ethanol. So, shouldn't you be draining off the first bit anyhow even with your yeast, sugar and water method?
How do you know when you have gotten all the alcohol distilled out of the original liquid? Would steam come out of the fermented liquid at some point or not because its fermented? I would like to know about the "throw out the first shot" also. Or is that only for when you are dealing with a "mash" style fermentation, like with corn?
@prepgirl7 Well one way is to control the temperature. Alcohol boils and turns into a steam at 173 degrees fahrenheit. Water turns into steam at 212 degrees fahrenheit. So if you kept the teperature at 173 degrees mostly just alcohol would distill and when it stopped producing steam all the alcohol would be distilled. Another way would be just to calculate how much alcohol you made and distill that amount. You throw out the first little bit incase there is any methanol contamination.
@prepgirl7 Methanol vaporizes at an even lower temperature than alcohol so it is the first to come out. That is why you throw out the first little bit. Methanol is toxic to humans. Funny enough though the cure for methanol posioning is ethanol. Anyways there would be very very little methanol so throwing out the first little bit is just a safety measure.
i noticed you mentioned the difference between methanol and ethanol. but what ive read and seen from other sources is that there is even some in your brew. they say throw out the first shotglass worth of your distilled spirit give or take. is that true? the only thing keeping me from trying it is the fear that i may not throw out enough and take a swig and go blind. lol.
