  • Alles klar lol

  • scooby, normaly i always rate your videos highly and agree with what you saying. But bench pressing on the floor ? there is no way that is working your chest probably, It must only be working 5-10% of chest.

  • awesome scooby, your favorite bodypart to workout must be the chest, mine too keep them coming!!

  • Hey Scooby1961,,when you say do drop weights you mean like start heavy then each set you do drop down five pounds and so on right

  • Scooby, youre a very smart and educated man. Do you believe in God?

  • If he is, as you say, smart and educated, then it is unlikely he believes in God...

  • "bye bye bench"

    -scooby1961

  • Guys, personal question here. Im about 155 pounds, and five feet, 9 inches, and I would say that I'm in pretty good shape. (Think Peter Parker from the spiderman movie). I have a good chest, it is cut and well shaped, BUT I have a concern. Everything seems good, except for my nipples. My nipples are like those of a real fat person. They're big and pink, and look in the shape of pancakes, unless the weather gets cold., they shrink. Is there any possible solution to this problem?

  • hahahaha boob job?

  • cut them off!

  • Some guys have small nipples and some have big nipples, dont worry about it there is nothing you can do about the size of them anyway. If you are talking about the shape, thats a different matter. If they are volcano shaped rather than flat, thats gyno. If you are a teen it is quite common to have gyno which will go away after 2 or 3 years by itself.

Since you are concerned, I would definitely recommend talking to your doctor about it next time you have a physical.

  • Ha ha, guys, I dont know if you remember me, but I was the guy that asked why I keep seeing a guy eat hot cheetos everyday and yet he has a great body. Well, I finally asked him, and I think that his response was rather funny. He said "well, kinda funny of you to ask, but the truth is, this bag of chips is my only source of junkfood in a day. I also eat a chicken salad often, but im not a nazi so I cant just give up all that is tasty" Well, anyway I thought it was funny.

  • Yes, I remember. Glad you took my advice and asked him, it was as I figured. He does have really good nutrition but allows himself a small amount of junkfood each day. Some elite collegiate athletes do so much training that they literally can eat anything, take Phelps 12000 calorie diet. Not that its healthy, but they can get away with it.

  • Hey scooby1961,,i got another question but its not regaurding the chest this time it has to do with the biceps,,for some reason it seems like my biceps arent getting bigger as well,,people are saying i am getting bigger and getting muscle mass but i just dont see it...is there certain parts of the biceps you can work only,,i know that sounds like a stupid question,,but i would like to know thanks

  • If you are getting stronger each month, dont worry, the muscle mass will follow. If you are not getting stronger then its time to try some different techniques. Try different exercises. If you are doing high rep workouts, do low rep workouts or visa versa. Do drop sets if you are not doing them now or stop them if you are doing them. You get the idea

  • Hey scooby1961,,i honestly can say i love your workouts,,its free and your honest thanks man,,i just can seem to get my chest bigger man i know you have to lift big to get big right? i mean im not lifting real big taht i cant lift it but it just seems i cant bigger from my chest what can you suggest

  • Three more chest vids coming your way to help out ... stay tuned

  • RESPECT !!!

  • me alegro tengas sentido del humor, en realidad es admirable tu capacidad y voluntad para hacerse de un buen cuerpo, un saludo cordial, be happy....

  • he looks like a girl with that boods ;P

  • Once again a great video and fantastic advice Scoob. I will definitely be including these in my future workouts whilst lying on the floor. It just felt too precarious doing them on the bench.

  • Hey scooby, i wanted to know something about my abs, i just can barely see them after 7 months of training, and im 7.7% fat, should i reduce my fat percentage?

  • Yep, reducing your bodyfat is the only way to get tight 6-pack abs. You say you are 7.7% bodyfat, I doubt that or you would have abs. Only the water immersion tanks provide a bodyfat with any accuracy, all the other methods are so inaccurate as to be useless. Try this simple test, grab a roll of skin about an inch to the side of your belly button and pinch hard - how thick is it. If you are 7.7%, it should be about 3/8" thick.

  • yeh he got that big by a fluke, maybe you should look at his site before you comment buddy

  • If you stop that "diet program" you will probelly gain weight after awhile.

  • Hey scooby. You haven't yet accepted my friend request so i cant send a personal message, so ill try be brief. I'm 19, been weightlifting with good nutrition for 4 months now, and have put on great muscle. I do cardio on rest days too. I'm just getting a little paranoid that I may be putting on weight around my face - not good- as i am a male model! After all, my food intake is much higher these days, altho im definitely not putting on weight anywhere else. Am I just being paranoid? Help!

  • How is anyone around here supposed to tell you if your face has changed when no one has ever seen you?

If you need to keep tight ship on your weight, then do trust a scale - weigh yourself daily and mark it in a chart, this should show trends. Don't get hung up on the daily highs and lows!

And after four months it is very unlikely that you put on huge amounts of muscle.

  • Estos tío deberían taparse esas tetas, usen brasier....

  • Very funny! So what size would I wear with a 52" chest?

  • good vids

one question how do you work on your lower inside chest?

i cant seem to work it out so i thought you could help

  • I think you are asking about the gap between the pecs, that is genetic. Some men have a tight line between the pecs, some have a big even gap, and some have a big triangle gap at the bottom. Nothing you can do about it, genetics determines the attach points. Just work on making the pecs stronger/bigger and everything will fill out so that the gap is not noticed.

  • Check out my the video "6-pack abs fast, Part 2: Nutrition" for easy, nutritious meals that I eat. You can also go to my website and find a print version there.

  • I workout heavy but i only weight 138... I want only muscles on my body and nothing else lol... I saw many videos like arnel's but I think you sound the most realistic and of course experienced! can you post the brands of the ingredients you used! Will really appreciate that... oh and if possible a one day example of what you eat through out the day... I am sure you don't eat samething everyday but an example of one day will give me an idea (if possible with the time you ate also)...

  • Hi scooby, I am really impressed by the way you live your life. All the food and workout you do... You well deserve that body you have. I watched your nutrition video, I am ready to apply this to my life, (not as a diet lol)... Can you let me know the specific brand of diary protein you used and the oreos you were using.. also the canned food that you use by itself as a quick meal... I have no problem accepting food even if its not tasty but I want results.

  • Check out my website under Nutrition>ProteinShakes, I show the brand I use.

  • Thank you for your informative videos and techniques they have done alot for me and I have just started! I have gained 2 pounds in the last week and have put on firmer harder muscles. This has helped me start to change my life, I am starting as a 6 foot tall 130 pound 18 year old and hope to change my life using your techniques, thank you for the wonderful videos and I hope to see more in the future!

  • What would you say works better for the chest, Flys or Presses?

  • id say a combo of both :P

  • For me personally the fly type movements have helped my chest the most, doesnt mean thats true for everyone though.

  • mo too

  • Thought so, thnx for the info.

  • Hi Scooby! I have a question about the video

"6-pack abs part2, Nutrition" very interesting video by the way!

I have tried this type of meals for about 3 weeks, and my stomach is KILLING me! is it because of all the fibers? I mean, is this normal? did you experience the same thing when you started?

Thanks for spreading all your knowledge! Keep up the good work!

  • going from a low fiber to high fiber diet will cause some discomfort at first but will soon subside once you system adjusts. this is from personal experience. lol!!!

  • As I say in the video, you need to add the fiber slowly over many weeks to let your system get used to it. Dont want to clog the pipes.

  • i want to send a private message to you but you wont accept my request. could you please add me as a friend. i wanted to ask you for some help

  • Sorry, I dont do personal training. If you post here, either I or someone else will be glad to help.

  • ok good enough thanks

  • crap my message is too long

  • You are great mr Scooby thanks alot for the info

  • Scooby what about people that dont have time to eat 6 meals a day? What do you suggest?

i work from 8pm~17pm and because i dont have time to eat 6 meals a day, i drink 25g of protein shake from 2 to 2hrs and workout at night.

  • hi man id like to try and help u cus i know scooby is really busy, i know im no where near scoobys knowledge but ill try to help u. u could try to make some on the go meals and put them in plastic containers to take with u to work such as dry oat meal mixed in with protein powder then when u go to work just add water and shake. and yes protein shakes r good scoby recommends those im sure!

  • thanks man. i saw scoobys video talking about nutrition. ill do that. thanks again.

  • Check out my nutrition video for some healthy options on what to eat when you dont have a microwave or refrigerator. Protein bars do in a pinch.

  • once again... 10/10 welldone scooby...

  • do only the easy half of the ROM in bench presses? i dont think many people would see much progress from that

  • People see less benefit from being lame for 6 months because of a shoulder injury :)

Try doing them from the floor and tell me what you think. I have no trouble at all getting sore the next day.

  • Practical example: I started your intermediate program yesterday and SLIGHTLY overestimated the weight possible for me with the flys.

I managed to get the dumbbells off the floor nicely, but 5 or 6 inches into the movement my right arm just gave way. So fast that I didn't even have time to think about letting go of the dumbbell.

Had I been lying on a bench, it is very likely that I would have dislocated my shoulder.

Oh, and I do feel sore enough today, thank you very much :)

  • Glad to hear that another surgery was avoided! Flys are an amazing chest exercise but when your muscles are pushed to the limit, shoulder injury could easily result as you found out.

  • I must say, that the whole point about an excercise like Dumbbell Bench Presses, is the extra ROM. Trust me when i say, that shoulder injury will only occur during bench presses and flyes, if you already have a protracted shoulder girdle or scapular dysfunction. If you have healthy shoulders and no history of shoulder injuries, you REALLY should go all out on the range of motion.

  • I just did a bit of research on it and found the following:

"(Instability of the glenohumeral joint) may also occur from repeatedly hyperextending the shoulder during the performance of bench presses, flyes, and the pec deck by lowering the bar or dumbbells to the point where the elbows are behind the back".

From "Minimizing Weight Training Injuries in Bodybuilders and Athletes" by Dr. Ben Weitz, published in "Topics in Clinical Chiropractic", June 1997. Can be found online under this title.

  • Evilcyber, I like you! If I had money I would hire you as a researcher. I had this shoulder safety stuff drilled into my head by an excellent physical therapist when recovering from shoulder surgery, I never saw the research references which they were based on. Thanks for finding the research!

  • If I had the money I would hire you as my personal fitness coach, so I think we are even ;)

  • Tykketykke,

Are you a physical therapist or orthopedic surgeon? All the physical therapists I have worked with say it is NOT safe to use the shoulder's entire range of motion.

  • As long as you are feeling no pain or having any difficulties while doing it, i still think you should. You will hear ALL the experts say, that rounding your back during deadlifts is the way to lower back problems - and look at Konstantin Konstanov. One of the best deadlifters in the world, and it doesn't look like he's experiencing problems using that technique. My point is, you shouldn't limit your growth in fear of injuries, if you are NOT experiencing any problems with full range of motion.

  • hi scooby good video as usual. i just got a quick question. ive heard a rumor that a high protein diet forces calcium excretion and can cause other negative effects on the bones. i was just wondering what u think of this. By the way i love your videos always great tips!.

  • Dont know, suppose it depends on what "high protein" is too. Anything eaten in excess is a poison, including water. I dont think the amounts of protein I suggest (15-25g protein in 6 meals) qualifies as a toxic amount of protein.

  • There is a slight correlation between protein intake and calcium excretion. Do a net search for "calcium" and "protein" and you will find a number of studies explaining the two and that in reality it shouldn't come into play, IF you stay reasonable!

Rule of thumb: 0.5 to 1 gr of protein per lb of bodyweight.

More than that can be harmful, with most likely symptoms ranging from lowered stamina to liver or kidney failure. Do a search for "hyperammonaemia" and "weightlifting".

  • When are you uploading your next chest workout video?

  • scooby in terms of the meals how much time should i wait befor eating each meal

  • Please see my nutrition video for more info. Eat right when you get up and every 2.5hrs thereafter.

  • he looks like the soidler from ants LOL im mean doesn't he?

buff btw maybe even riped so ill give you a 10.

  • Guess I will have to see "Ants" now.

  • Hehe, alles klar?

Scooby, I didn't know you speak german.

  • Naturlich spreche ich Deutsch!

  • Deutsch ist eine schwer zu lernende Sprache, my hat's off to you!

  • Mein Deutsch ist schlecht, aber mein Espanol ist ein total schaden.

  • those squeezers are nice

  • LOL :)

  • ive never had a chest like that...wtf.

  • im 17 years old and i want to lose weight and gain more muscle but im 240 pounds and i can bench press 230 but i whant to lose weight but im to heavy to run alot or enouph that i get a good cardio work out what can i do so i can start to lose weight and get better at cardio workouts???? im going to folow all of your videos and lose the weight.... thanks for the videos they are alot of help.

  • First thing you should start to do on your journey to a slim you is using punctuation, so people better understand your questions ;)

To really start losing weight you need to eat less than your body needs, as it is very unlikely that you will lose a lot through sports alone. 30 minutes of running burns about 300 cal - that is just one cheeseburger.

Check Scooby's nutrition video and have a look the Hacker's Diet (do a Google search); each represents a different way to tackle your problem.

  • Couldnt have said it better myself. Being an engineer, I understand the optional nature of punctuation when conveying thoughts :)

  • You don't have to run a mile in Olympian time to get good cardio. Cardio is relative to your abilities: if you're very heavy then a slow jog might be enough to get your heart rate high.

Basically: do anything you can to get your heart rate high, and keep it there.

Check with your doctor first though: overweight people are likely to have high cholesterol, and high cholesterol + fast beating heart is not a good mix because cholesterol impedes the blood's passage through the veins.

  • Your training schedule examples really helped me increase my mass. Along with creativity and thoughtful planning, my "once a week" training routine is provided so much more results than when I trained 3x a week! Believe or not, quality is more important than quantity! I went from 160 to 170 at the height of 6 foot 2, from 10th to 12th grade. I just graduated and I already added 10lbs. up to 180 all in one summer. I haven't gained any fat, though, because I have high metabolism.

  • Ah, to be young again! Gaining 10lbs of muscle in a year just isnt going to happen at my age, not even 1lb :(

  • would it be a good idea to start working out at age 15 turing 16 in 1 month i see my self and i dont like it im way 2 skinny i wanna gain some muscle's what's a good thing 2 do i use 2 play soccer but it didn't work ?

    can your help me?

  • You could try Scooby's weightlifting program for beginners (check his website) and combine it with the soccer as your cardio activity.

  • You will be perfectly fine. Contrary to the myth, weight training at a young age won't stunt your growth.

  • what kind of steroids have you taken?

  • shut up

  • scooby i added you as a friend on youtube because ive got some lengthy questions and i wanted to message you on youtube so i have to add you lol or do you have an email so that i can email you.... im a beginner in this bodybuilding so

  • go to his website and go to "beginner workouts"

  • Sorry, I cant answer personal training questions - I dont have insurance for that.

  • is it good to start Bodybuilding at 14 ??

  • 14 is way too young to start lifting weights IMHO. I would much rather see you playing soccer, basketball, or skateboarding as all these things help build your coordination, balance and endurance. You have decades to work on muscle mass, the coordination is much easier to pick up when you are young.

  • Do african americans just naturaly build muscle faster? Thats not a racist comment, I am just very curious because it shure seems that way.

  • I think there are two answers to this.

IMO, black people can get better bodies than white people and even others like chinese for example. From experience black people do produce muscle faster and I do agree when people say that black people can gain muscle faster.

Secondly, the darker skinned you are, the bigger you will look (if you understand what I mean), it's exactly why bodybuilders get as dark as they can.

  • Ok, now I have a question that I must know the answer to! Why do I see this guy in my college class who is about 20 yrs old ALWAYS eating a bag of "Hot Cheetos" (not baked) every single stinkin day of the week when we barely come into class, and of course, he is not as "buffed out" as scooby, but hes real close. How does he manage to get that body without strictly watching his diet? I wanna ask but I never seem to muster up the courage to do so lol. My prediction is bcuz hes african american?

  • Never be afraid to ask people questions! You will most likely be surprised how helpful guys are when you ask them fitness questions. At the gym, if somebody has great arms and yours are lagging then ask them their training routine! Of course, choose the right time so you dont interrupt their workout and even the pros will bend over backward to help you. Its usually best to catch people before or after their workout so you dont mess with their concentration.

  • What I would be interested in is how he can stand to eat the stuff every single day ;)

Nah, seriously, ask him. Maybe he has some good tips to share. And what's wrong with paying someone a nice compliment on their physique?

  • Scooby, just out of sheer curiousity, what is your body fat percentage?

    Thanks!

  • (Cheekily. I also would love to be pumped up to show off :P)

So could you please help me, perhaps talk to me some time and tell me where I'm going wrong, and what I can also do.

Sorry to be a pain in the arse. I know you dedicate alot of your time to doing these videos for people.

    anyone else having problems also?

    Regards.

  • Hey there Scooby. I've been watching the videos and stuff & have been subscribed to you for about 9 months..

I feel really hopeless, it seems like my matabolism is weird or something, it seems no matter what I do, I can never seem to get those dream muscles I desire..

It's my brithday in 12 days, and i'll be 17, I really want to pump up in this one year for when I hit 18, so I can get my tattoos done nicely onto my muscles without it ruining the tattoos etc.

  • It takes years to gain muscle mass and you are not even 17 yet, you need to have patience! Just focus on getting a little big stronger every month. As long as you keep getting stronger, you will get bigger. Your metabolism is NOT weird, it is normal. Sounds like you have been lifting for 9 months, in that time I wouldnt expect to see any visible results but would expect to notice a strength increase of maybe 10-20%.

  • hi scooby i really need help ive stopped running because i want to bulk up i used to work on my abs loads ive stopped because of the bulking up i really need to gain weight im eating bread with concentred milk high in fat i need help pls

  • Before you do anything else, you need to do a lot of research. If you continue with what you are doing you will be fat out of shape.

  • As Scooby says on his website: If you only got time to either do cardio or weightlifting, do the cardio.

Therefore, if you want to bulk up, combine the running with weightlifting exercises. Check Scooby's website under "workout plans" for a program that will work for you.

  • dude... your chest is HUGE!!

  • Thanks! Everybody has a bodypart that seems to respond better to training than others. For many it is arms or calves, for me its chest.

  • My motivations for working out is my natural born thin frame. As a kid, I looked like a starving child (no offense to anyone out there). My nipples were small, my chest defined by RIB BONES, and my stomach bulged out more than my chest (again, as a kid). I became paranoid about that situation until I couldn't take it any longer. I notice that those WWE wrestlers still have their abs come out further than their chests. Is that a result of excess 6-pack muscles or neglected bellies?

  • From what I understand, the distended bellies you see on pro wrestlers and pro bodybuilders can be caused by the (illegal) growth hormone they take which makes everything including internal organs. I dont have any proof or inside info, this is just what I have heard and it seems to make sense. If you see some of the 300lb+ bodybuilders relaxed their bellies are just obscene, with some its bigger than their huge chest.

  • Constructive criticism: work out your neck. It is way to common seeing good sized dudes with skinny necks.

  • thanks. nice koi angelfish too =]

  • this guy is funny

  • alles klaar is a dutch word

you to maybe and i am from holland

your video helps a lot keep on the good work

  • Scooby, aargh, I'm getting the impression you deliberately ignore my above question about your intermediate program :)

I know you can't give individual workout tips due to insurance problems, but I would be very glad if you could give just a general hint how you for yourself would modify the program, if you would have to substitute the pullup bar.

    Thanks!

  • Thats really annoying, I did write a careful reply making sure to keep it under 500 chars and I just went back to look at it and it never got posted. Grrrrrrr. You get what you pay for and this software is free.

  • That sucks. They could let at least the 500 ok chars through.

Again, thank you, this time for going through the trouble to repeat your reply.

  • hey scooby ive always wondered something. I live in a place where I get snow during the winter so bike riding or jogging isnt always possible. I was wondering, in your opinion jogging on the spot is a good way of doing cardio inside the house?

  • Its very difficult to get cardio jogging in place, its too easy to cheat. However, jumping rope IS killer cardio and you CANT cheat. Not only that, jumping rope is a lot more mentally and physically as it requires concentration and coordination, especially if you start doing some fancy tricks.

  • I live in an area similar to the one you described. For the last 5 months I've ran on the spot at home and still got a good workout. Scooby is right, there are too many ways to cheat but if you're committed you can overcome this. I usually pick out an album that I like and run on the spot for a couple songs, then turn 90 degrees so the workout isn't facing the same wall for an hour. I also change to speed I run along with the tempo of the music to change heart rate and I've now lost 18lbs :)

  • man iam sure he has a fucking gun 6 pack my friend works his stomach more then anything and you cant really see his unless he tenses his abdominals and he works out twice a day every day

  • ALLES KLAR!

  • So funny, when you said "Alles klar ?"

  • if you get that 6 pack you'll have a very well defind body

  • I think he didnt train his legs as well as his chest xD or I must've missed it

    Anyway he's awsome

  • dude...i've been doing flies on my bench for like ever...so yeah now im never doing flies on my bench again...thankz scooby :)

  • Just be careful if you ever decide to go back to the bench. Those muscles that you used to use on the bench are gonna be weak.

  • I dont use a bench, you callin' me weak?? :)

  • u should get paid man

  • No man...

but how do you do incline then?

  • his head so small lmao!!!

  • whats because he works out alot and his body is strong and it makes his face look small

  • And Scooby, with all due respect, not using a bench causes more than a 5 percent setback. You say in your squeezers video that the squeezing exercises (flyes, pec deck) work for you and the pressing ones dont. I believe its because when you dont have a bench to complete the range of motion for pressing, if you have a floor stopping you, you only work the top of the range, targeting only ARMS. Using the floor with the flyes, granted theres more motion so okay.Other than that, thanks for the help.

  • Hey Musikmj, toanswer your question why you're shoulders are doing all the work, its cause your back is completely flat on the bench, inhibiting the chest to feel the tension and have your shoulders do everything. So,to fix this problem, before you lie down on the bench, SQUEEZE YOUR SHOULDER BLADES and then lie down with them squeezed and rubbing against each other. This allows your chest to come up, and it shortens the range of the barbell. as long as it touches the chest, its not cheating.

  • Good point Audacity323, shoulders back is good for every exercise that I know of. I do it naturally but I should have pointed it out.

  • Hi Scooby, very helpful video as always. Much appreciated and Thanks a lot!

I had a couple of unrelated questions -

    1) Do you personally include Deadlifts in your workouts?

    2) For size, do you recommend doing heavy weights with low (2-5) reps?

    Thanks again.

  • Hey there, I can answer that for you.

1)Deadlifting is a very great excercise. But there's one very big problem. It puts way too much pressure and tension on your joints. If you have back pain don't even consider deaflifts. Other than that Deaflifting is a great excercise if used with perfect form.

2)Remember working out is up, plateau, up, plateau. You need to change up your workout every now and then to feel the sore the next day. So in other words, do both low and high rep.

  • Powerlifting exercises (squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc) are compound exercises that build muscle 'fast' (if there is such a thing as fast muscle growth). Trouble is that its very easy to get injured doing these unless you have a very experienced coach working closely with you. Dont try these on your own or with friends, get a pro coach. I personally dont do any powerlifting exercises because of my 1)age 2)back problems 3)knee problems

  • By far your skullcrushers are the most correct I have seen. If you have time, Scooby, you should check out skullcrusher vids. Can't tell you how many incorrect ones I have seen. All they do is sacrifice form to do more weight. Their elbows get like 2.5 ft wide. They do go down slowly, but when they go up it gets a little faster. Then their elbows move outward by inches and their upper arms tilt back so it helps them cheat the weights up. Scooby has the best form for every exercise!

  • Scooby's skullcrusher is the only correct one. All the other ones I have seen (over 10) are incorrect. So funny that people lift incorrectly but think they got it all right. Can't help but laugh in my mind.

  • Its really, really easy to let the elbows wander when doing skull crushers even if you are trying to use perfect form. Its probably to take a video of yourself once in awhile to check your form, I know that many times I have been humbled when seeing a video of me because in my mind the form was perfect but the video proved otherwise. Video is a great teaching tool!

  • Hah! At least your skullcrushers are BETTER than any other ones I have seen. Most people obviously cheat while doing those by tilting their upper arms toward their head. Could wide grips also help them cheat/do more weights?

  • Dang, I don't even have dumbbells. But still, I keep gaining mass in my chest! I used to be so bony. And now? 4 stretch marks on my right pec and 7 stretch marks on my left. It's odd though that my left is a bit smaller. What is your preference in trying to correct size differences? More reps & sets or more resistance for the weaker side? I have heard people suggesting dumbbell press because each arm pushes on its own. True, but doesn't the weaker arm still cheat to get the weight up?

  • With chest assymetry, I personally think its too dangerous to try and even it out. Picture falling off a bench trying to do a one armed fly :)

  • I don't have a bench just like you. In fact, I have no professional weight lifting equipments except for a cheap portable 3-part bar that came with 100 pounds. Everything I use is what I already have. I use 2 stands to do dips, a closet bar to do pullups, 3 chairs for pushups, a chair to lie on and a table to tuck my legs under for long range situps, a table for 1 arm rows, big bags for curls/overhead extens/arm raise/rever flyes/kickbacks.

  • Dude, you got a closet that was made to last through a nuclear war? :)

Nothing in our household would be able to support me, so for me it was either the beam of a clothesline in the yard, one of those steel things on a close by playground or buying one of those pullup bars that will look ugly as hell on your wall(kinda like a futuristic deer head).

  • A closet bar is an excellent idea for pullups! You can replace the cheap, flimsy bar with a "top rail" found at hardware stores. Its a very heavy duty metal pole 1.5" in diameter used in the top of cyclone fences.

  • would i be right in saying that since you will have a 5% less benefit if you do flys on the floor would it make more sence just to add more weight and do less reps to make up fot it???

  • Hey scooby,

once again - great video! Thank you a lot for that.

Maybe you can give me your advice:

when I do bench, flys, push ups I often have the feeling my shoulders are doing the work instead of my pecs. What could be a reason for that?

  • Well there are many reasons. Here are some main ones.

    1) You're incorrectly doing the exercise

    2) You're chest is stronger than your shoulders are.

    And...

    3) Whenever I do my chest workouts I don't feel as if it's doing any work either. I don't feel my chest burning or any of that. But when I wake up the next morning, I know damn straight my chest did some work.

  • As someone else correctly mentioned, you might need to hold your shoulders back and try to make your shoulder blades touch while doing the exercise

  • i was gonna comment on your 6pack abs part 2 vid but you disabled comments. just wanted to say i actually LIKE your "recipes" ive been eating just mixed veggies (took few choices before if ound my fav) and those salmon/refried bean burritos for 3-4 weeks now. i also like eating kim chi and rice for a small later evening meal.

now if only i could stop drinking alcohol!! im in college and its so easy to start drinking with friends and end up getting 600+ calories just from drinking in one night!

  • Dont deprive yourself totally, it can result in binges. You might try limiting yourself to two drinks on a weekend night.

  • Scooby I want to tell you thank you so much for your videos, they are very informative and VERY practical.

I Have a question though, in your video you said that the elbows should not pass the plane of the body, well when doing the bench press is it bad then to "touch your chest" when going down? I was always taught that this was the proper way of doing it.

    Thanks Again

  • First, I dont like bench press at all. Having said that, letting the bar touch your chest or worse yet, bounce off your chest is a shoulder-risk. Of course, if your chest is so massive that your elbows are at 90 degrees when the bar is touching your pecs, thats fine :)

  • guiligan island

  • Whoa, this dude's chest is so huge compared to the rest of his body he looks out of proportion. At the same time, he's ripped. Great vid

  • That's because in the human body the chest is close to the largest muscle. Of course its not the strongest, but without a doubt one of the largest. Don't you think it'd be weird if his shoulder and his chest were just as big and proportional?

  • I do have a big chest but its not out of proportion as it appears in this video. Camera angles make all the difference and obviously things closer to the lens appear bigger. When I do legs, i will see if I can make my legs appear out-of-proportion large when compared to my chest :)

  • great vid!

  • Hey, I can u tell or make a video of some good superset workouts...i heard this pulling and pushing workout techinque with supersets is a great way to get ur heartrate up and get a lot stronger. Can you tell me some workout procedures?

  • Try my "Killer Chest Workout". Its a chest workout with a no-rest triple set. Its a low rest, high rep workout and its good for shaking up your workout if your gains have stopped.

  • ALLES KLAAR ?! ja natuurlijk !

    i love scooby1961's explainations !

he really helps me with my workouts and learn me a lot. im 18 and always did it on the bench. and lowered to much aswell... but never felt anythin in my shoulder... maybe it wil come :P

but when benchpresses i do the same, they call it ''whole'' rep. and u can do a half aswell can i injure there my shoulder aswell ?

    dude u rock !

  • that crazy. i do the same thing you recommended with the encyclopedias. but i use milk crates. WORKOUT SMARTER NOT HARDER!

  • hey Scoob

My brother and I love your videos and find them very inspiring for our workouts. Your website is unreal too. Right now I am taking criminal justice and one day be a police officer so I am training a lot. Keep up the great work and I hope to see many more great videos in the future.

  • scooby about the nutrituoin video. Im 170lbs and lost 4lbs in the first week. I was eating as much as u said but I play basketball alot, any tips?

  • When I went on my diet, I lost about as much as you did in the first week, but it evened out over the next weeks and months.

I suggest you keep track of your weekly weight loss and if you continue to lose this much, up your calorie intake so you lose not more than 1-2 lbs.

  • PS. This is of course if you WANT to lose weight. Otherwise of course aim to keep your weight stable.

  • Are lats that important and is your wife like superwoman?

  • good video, excellent advise
