i did the exact same thing in my high school game... but i was called for " malicious play ".... the ump. didnt explain why... so i was called out but when i hit the catcher the ball fell out so i should have been safe !!!! why wasnt I ?....

cause this is pro ball and its only legal in AAA and MLB i believe. when the runner intentionally makes contact with a fielder to jar the ball lose, he is ruled out for interference and if it is a violent collision, he is ejected for malicious contact.
