But i'm very persnickety and it has to look REAL. Like yours, of course. But, they make those other costumes very simple, and don't try and make it stupid and cheap. The wearer's head is in the collar. The arms are on stilts/arm extensions. So technically, yes on all fours

the starting price of a 4 legged costume is $2000

this one was $2200 with the extra cost being for the big eyes, the horn, the collar and ankle shackles, removeable body padding (easier to wash the suit) and the extra work to make the neck the way it is (canine/feline is easier)

i did this w/out references and now looking at some equines i see that the digigrade leg padding is a bit too exaggerated...but it is a mythical beast so some artistic liberty can be taken.

i am a huge fan of non-digital special effects, things like lion king on broadway, dark crystal and never ending story are examples of things i would love to use my talents for.

I have a mythological creatures dictionary and it talks about the unicorn had had a few different appearances ever since it was first mentioned so there's definitely liberty in having a slightly different appearance.

I could definitely see you working for a film or stage company!  Perhaps even Stan Winston's company! I agree about being all about having the visuals there and something to interact with. There's just someting special on many levels about actually having the real thing there!

CGI effects do not impress me as much. hellboy actually used a lot of real effects such as the hellhound which was a real quadsuit with animatronic tentacles on it's head.

it is more special to have the real thing there, the crew of ET said they often found themselves reffering to the costume as if it were alive and to me that makes the character more alive.

You're work reminds me very much of classic Jim Henson fantasy work. They had a life size lion puppet in a few segments, one with Jim Henson himself. I could see you working for Stan Winston's company or Jim Henson's. Both were the fathers of modern puppetry and animatronics. I could see you working in that environment easily.

to me the dark crystal shows Jim Henson's skill far better than the muppets ever did, the creative use of wearable costumes, animatronics and puppetry was amazing. i grew up with that movie and watched it A LOT and i would love to work on a movie like that

the orange tabby cat is Junebug, my miracle kitty

(we just so happened to be at the shelter to surrender an old guniea pig we failed to rehome ourselves when some one came in with a 2 week old kitten, the shelter could not take her as she needed to be bottle fed so we took her. not only was it like fate that we were there when we were BUT all this happened a mere week after my 21 year cat died and i had been hoping to get an orange female tabby ^_^
