Hey thanks for all of the little details on this song, much appreciated!! What a coincidence, I visited the Collins site a few days ago and wondered how good their electrics were...can you get one with a Wilkinson trem I wonder?
don't know about the trem option...you could certainly give them a quick call and find out - thanks for checking out the vid and your kind post is greatly appreciated!
Aaaah fantastic! Saw the Doobie Bros on TV, and I just had to break out the guitar and play this tune. What a great song! Thanks for the chords and thanks for posting!!!
I like your videos, very good explanations, great authentic tone, and I like the way you refer to the chord shapes as 'grips'. This is a very practical way of looking at it. Thank you.
hello, thanks for your kind words and watching the video! All my lessons are posted here on YT. You can go to playlists and find Tutorial Videos and check them out. There is a link to my website on my channel page as well.
i can easily play it without a pick...i am using a 0.7mm and by watching the video again i have noticed that you are holding the pick differently..well, as professional like you, i think it's the right thing..but i'm getting used of holding it tight so that i could not lost it...and the index and thumb were almost equally aligned...have to learn more right picking techniques LOL..thanks.
i can relate.....i held my pick differently when i first started and after a couple of years after watching other players that i admired closely, noticed that they didn't hold the pick like i was. I changed to the way i hold it now - seemed like it took almost a year to get used to it but i'm glad i did. I'm a stickler showing new players about their pick - i don't want them to do what i did. All the best with your music!
you are right...now i'm focusing more on your picking...not anymore to the collings..i don't want to spend another year for holding a pick...and have to finish this one and long train runnin.
hello Kate, thanks for watching the video and i appreciate your kind post! I wish you all the best with your music and let me know if i can help in any way,
Great instruction...only thing i do notice is on some of the chords on the lessons (such as this one, which i've played for some time)...you stress not to hit certain notes of the barre..or partial barre...and on this tune in particular, during the main riff / verse it seems like you hit the high E (with your barre) when you cross over from the E to the Esus pattern, giving it a much more F#m7 feel than the Esus...just a minor observation...great playing though...thanks.....G
Thx... Been playng this for three years now in our cover band and just realized there are three quick chords you should play instead of the A after the chorus. They should have a little punch from the drummer also.
Thanks for the great lesson! Great instructions. Although I am new to playing guitar (1 1/2 years) I'm not sure if I can play this, but it's such a great tune and I will have to practice that much more to be successful. Thanks for posting the video.
What a superb training video!! Could you comment a bit more on the strumming techniques? Is it simply sixteenth note or are you changing motions? Have you changed the angle of the strum to prevent striking lower strings or are you dampening them? Again, thanks for the great aid!!!
thanks for your kind feedback and for watching the video! Strumming is difficult to explain IMO - i am using up and down strokes - i am not hitting the high E string on the E chord - i try to stay away from hitting the low E as well. All the best with your music,
Excellent lesson Dale. Our band is going to learn this song and you just made it easier! Love your Collings! I have a Les Paul Standard (same color as yours), a Strat, and a Santa Cruz OM acoustic. Would love to add a Collings to my collection. Keep the lessons coming!
You know what I like most about these, is that it shows how much talent went into these ol' classic songs we totaly take for granted. Way to revive these greats man! Dice, and family!
Once again an outstanding lesson that is well talked through as well as played. The explanations are great. You sir are truely a blessed player with a great heart for sharing your music. Thank you.
