    ... you're damn right!

  • I am wondering why a table that does not play on system for the corner 5, does play on system for the "plus" system, or vice versa.

  • @drtrotter74 my table with play dead on for the corner 5, but always plays a rail long on the "plus" system. I have tried various positions, and it seems to be this way. Does it have to do with there being a 3 rail kick vs. a 2 rail kick?

  • @drtrotter74

First of all, almost no pool table plays perfectly "on system" with the Corner-5 system, because the tracks off the third rail go well short of those predicted by 3-cushion-billiard table tracks (although, the 3rd-rail formula works fairly well on most tables).

For a lot more info on both the Plus and Corner-5 systems, see my recent series of BD articles, which are available on my website.

  • Wow that is a nifty trick.

  • @capoman1

Agreed ... but it does require specific practice for a particular corner on a particular table.

  • i think dr cue's method works much better, he does his 1-9 number method and he just makes the ball parallel to the corresponding diamond spots

  • where did you see his video? i would like to see his method thanks

  • Very nice video, but I was wondering how you would adjust the spot on the wall method to hit a target ,say a diamond longer or shorter than the reference pocket?

  • That depends on the number of rails. For more info, go to the FAQ section of my website (see the URL in the video description) and click on "banks and kicks" and check out the stuff under "diamond systems." Also, Disc IV of VEPS will have a lot of useful information and systems for kicking and banking.

    Dr. Dave

  • Byrnes Advanced pool book does a good job of explaining these and other types of diamond systems.

  • I just checked, and he does have a good section on the Corner-5 system (starting on page 131), but I didn't see anything on Plus-2 or spot-on-the-wall.

    Regards,

    Dr. Dave

  • Is the "spot on the wall" system the same as the"Distant point-Opposite 3 system Byrne describes in his Wonderful World of pool&billiards book? How about Kilgore's opposite 3 system also described in that book? Anyways good video.

  • Sorry, but I don't have a book by that name, and I haven't heard of the Kilgore system before.

I'm glad you like the video.

    Regards,

    Dr. Dave

  • First comment ive ever made and i watch this shit all the time. I havn't even tried it yet but know it looks good. I'll see ya up there! Talon Desjardins, Det Michigan

  • Oh, ok, I didn't know the term 'running' for natural/rolling/follow - now I got it... BTW, last night I ordered your book from Amazon, in 10 days it will be arriving here in Brazil... keep up the good work, thx for replying! -Rod.

  • I hope you like the book and find it useful. If you do, please help spread the word.

    Good luck with your game,

    Dr. Dave

  • Awesome... But I couldn't hear pretty well... did you use a little right english in the 3 and 2 rail shots, and no right english on the 1 rail shot... is that right? Any follow/forward thrust? I cant't wait to try this tomorrow!!! Thx for the vid!

  • Most multiple-rail kicking systems use running (natural) English. With all of the shots, the cue ball is rolling (with follow) at the rail.

  • So it depends on the distance of the wall from the table - if Rita Hayworth's picture was on a wall that was 10 feet further away - the 3 railer aiming spot wouldn't work from other cue ball locations on the table. I wonder if on a 4x8 table and the wall was 4 feet away if that might make a good aiming spot (or a spot on the rail of the pool table next to you). Interesting stuff, I'm anxious to experiment at my local hall.

  • Wow that spot on the wall technique is really handy.

  • awesome Dave ! See if you can do more trick shot ones like the passing lane shot you did a lil while ago.
