I was born in the middle of that game! My dad started watching it in the delivery room, waiting for my arrival. After I was born, mom was "out cold", so the doc told him to go home... and he watched the rest of the game then... and the rest of the Double Header. :D
I was there too. But it was 1964 (not 1962), the first year of Shea Stadium. It was my first baseball game ever. I was 8 years old, and I had no idea what was going on. But I remember suddenly the fans began cheering AGAINST the Mets hitters, and I could not figure out why. The final score was 6-0. I missed Rick Wise's debut in game 2 - we had to leave after the first game.
it was actually fathers day and in the second game of that doubleheader,rick wise made his 1st major league start,and he had a no hitter into the sixth inning
this was on my grandfathers 14th birthday!!! wild
