what a lovely and graceful lady! I like her wisdom smile, firm and confident. I always believe she will be our President someday, and she is on the way now!
I agree. What you wrote sums it up very well. I always knew she was going to run for President this election year. The timing is perfect for her and this country needs her. :) Go Hillary!
We have woken up because we have voted for HIllary to win both Ohio and Texas. We also know that there is so much inspirational speeches can do, we need solutions a real plan and Hillary is the only one who CAN and WILL deliver.
Of all the states each candidate had won so far and let's say we're in the general election, Hillary would've won more electoral votes than Obama and she would have reached the goal line by now.
Please keep in mind among the seven crucial states OH, CA, NY, NJ, IL, TX, MA, Hillary won six and Obama only won one and that's because IL is his home state. Need I say more?!
Despite him outspending her in ads 2 to 1 in both Ohio and Texas and having those new endorsements, Hillary still came out the big winner! She won both Ohio and Rhode Island by double digits, and even Texas! Go Hillary!
Honeychild this race is far from over. March 4th was a very good day for Hillary and US. They thought the race was close to call in Ohio - then she won by 300,000+ votes. They thought she would "fail miserably" in Texas and she won there too - against all odds. The big swing states are what matter- and that's what she's won.
Lastly, Clinton has a chance, anything can happen but her road to victory would be predicated on superdelegates overturning an Obama lead. Inherent in folks distrust of super delegates is their waiting to see a clear front runner before they choose their candidate not because they want to serve some greater Justice to the party but because the super delegates agenda is to position themselves to the prospect of POWER!
Then tell the DNC to change the rules -- rules that have been in place since at least 1960 for situatons just like this one. Again, why do you think "super" is part of their designation? Moreover, I agree with you to some extent, but if Clinton can pull in a BIG finish, and pull away with the popular vote -- or at least tie -- there would be nothing wrong UNDER THE RULES with the supers handing the nomination to Clinton. THOSE ARE THE RULES!
Rhode Island, Ohio & Texas were heavily effected by Clinton's desparation going heavily negative and unfortunate media coverage on the already dead rezco trial strarting.
What do you mean Florida and Michigan are "not gonna happen." Of course they will. They have to. Quite surprising after all your talk of fairness this afternoon.
Rod: are you kidding me man! you think Michigan, where his name wasn't even on the ballad is going to be counted and Florida were he didn't have a chance to close on her lead, this campaign has repeatedly shown that voters were unfamiliar with Obama until he came to there state. Come Rod, you might even incite a republican revolt on that one.
What do you mean "didn't have a chance to close her lead"? How presumptuous is that? Both names were on the ballot in Florida, so what is the problem? However, the point is that both states will have do-overs. They have to. The only question is who pays for it.
Do overs where they both are aware that the DNC is acknowledging the contest and they both have time to campaign there is more reasonable but there are NO legitimate sign's of anyone opting to come up with the tens of millions in cost to re-do.
Rod: well certainly they have a real roll that they thought they'd never have to call on. If Obama has more " Delegates, States & Popular vote", the super delegates are obligated to give him the nomination regardless of their political ties. That's just a no brainer and just having more delegates would be enough for me but i'm giving the argument the benefit of the doubt when i put the burden of all three voting criteria's in the equation. On another note: Hillary should release her tax returns.
Cory: It has been fun, but I must run. Note, however, that supers are not obliged to do anything. In fact, I would like to argue that they should represent the will of the people of their state, but of course Kennedy and Kerry will not hear me on that point. I just did a quick count of who would be ahead if we had a winner take all system: to date, Clinton (1738); Obama (1689) -- a virtual tie. Just food for thought. Take care my friend. BTW: the tax returns will be released 4/15. Stay tuned!
Rod: I understand you not fully excepting my game analogy as a perfect parallel but i would submit that it does apply somewhat in our reasoning in that the super delegates were never really intended to be applied in the party's inept way of thinking. Settling this scenario is very innately basic in democratic reasoning, implementing super delegates without some kind of moral police compass in place is potentially very divisive to the party and enthusiasm that the process hasn't seen in decades.
Cory: Here is the problem: This election represents the EXACT scenario superdelegates were intended to be used. The election is extremely close. These guys are not just delegates, they are "super" delegates who were intended to either break ties or (believe it or not) to stem the will of the majority. They are mostly party elites and activists who are, in fact, the "moral police" of the party. If this were not the case, we would not have superdelegates. They have a real role.
Cory: I hear you, but your game scenario does not parallel the rules of the democratic party. Indeed, that scenario more closely parallels the "winner take all" rules of the republican party. That's why they now have a presumptive nominee and we do not.
Dodgerfreak: Obviously you did not get the memo. What Olbermann is referring to was old news at the time he reported it, and has since been retracted by the Canadian government. By the way, have you heard ANY OTHER reporter say anythinkg about this? NO. Why? Because it was Olbermann Tabloid journalism at its best.
I think on a basic instinctual level, the candidate with the most Delegates should win since that was the measuring criteria to begin with but the candidate with the most "Delegates, States & Popular Vote" should absolutely get our parties nomination. In boxing, he who scores the most jabs, hooks power punch's e.t.c. gets the decision. Superdelegates overthrowing a fair competition in a profession infamous for owed favors and alliances predicated on less than virtuous motives is not Democracy!
Cory: I agree with you, but those are not the rules of the game. That is my only point. The rules should be changed, but not in the middle of the game. And if you think that is not democracy, explain to me how the caucus process is democratic? If a caucus is held between 11:00 and 3:00, how does the person who has to work first or second shift get to participate in the process? The rules of the democratic party are admitably horrible! But they are the rules.
Rod: As for the Caucus process, none of the candidates really knew what their voting constituency would be at the start. The caucus process couldn't have favored any candidate over the other initially, However when comes to super delegates as a concept, naturally it will favor those with the deepest political ties, name branding and assumption of power. The Clinton name carries political star power that any new comer would be hard pressed to stand a chance of surmounting...
Cory: All I am saying is that the caucus process is inherently undemocratic, no matter who the candidate is -- just like the superdelegate process is inherently undemocratic, or at least it can be. I agree that the Clinton name has "star power", but if Obama has the most states, the most pledged delegates and beats Clinton in the popular vote, the supers would be hard pressed to select Clinton. If she surpasses him in popular votes, however, it may get a lot tougher for a variety of reasons.
Wow, you are a bastion of intellectualism, tableturns. People like you should just stay home. You obviously have never participated or paid attention to the political process. You are not doing your candidate any favors by showing how remarkably ignorant you are. I must laugh, however, at the fact that you demand that I, a political science PhD candidate (American politics) to "do some research."
That is not a scare tactic. We live in a threatening world, and her ad raises a legitimate question about national security which has been answered by the numerous military generals who have endorsed her candidacy. Moreover, the ad received a positive reponse by the voters in Texas. She is running on her own merits on this one: 6 years on the armed services committee and the support of hundreds of US military leaders.
But this state doesn't count!Hillary says Wyoming is not a US state it was a caucus so that means Obama did not win,end of story! Oh my, just because Obama energises the base much better than me it doesn't count!! Small states don't count! Mississipii who needs ya! I'm going to win the presidency with Ohio and Texas o yes I am! Dems we don't need Wisconsin, Maryland, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Washington or any other non important state as long as we win in PA we are the nominee!
Now that Obama has won 26 states that don't count. How many of the remaining states will he win that Clinton will somehow try to diminish in their importance? Perhaps at the end, all of the states that voted for Obama should secede from the rest of the country because they don't count.
Lets consider your logic bermyshot. When Bill Clinton won in 1992, he won with FAR fewer states than Bush 41. When he beat Dole in 1996, he did it with far fewer states than Bob Dole. Had Gore won in 2000, it would have been with far fewer states than Bush 43. I guess back in 1992, all of the states that voted for Bush (the majority of the states) should have seceeded, huh?
You know what, I compare Hillary and Obama to dogs. Obama is the cute little English Toy Spaniel that barks around and runs around in circles all day. Hillary is the big like pitbull that just sits there with battle scars, many people hate her but at the end of the day a fight between Hillary and Obama Hillary will win, but somehow America just finds that the English Toy Spaniel is too cute.
Hillary's definitely got better things to back up those words. But apparently people like Obama's speeches. Why I've got no clue. Well for you Obama supporters when the NAFTA and Iraq thing leaked they're just words right?
if only i could have had a life half as wonderful as she has made hers, i'd be eternally grateful. she is one classy beautiful gifted successful woman. we love our Hillary!
Exactly. There are many many people with more than enough experience for the job but very few with the wisdom, moral fortitude and sound judgement that makes them true presidential material. Hillary unfortunately has been caught up in this idea that Experience + Gender = Entitlement. Don't buy into it!
Sen. Hillary Clinton has now won more primary votes than any Democratic nominee in history. She is person to bring about real changes, not just talk. Support Hillary Clinton for better America!
Experience? What's this vast experience she claims? A few years in the Senate, but otherwise, she was simply married to a guy who had experience. Does that make her experienced? NO. The one thing she tried to do during that time was a complete and utter failure, healthcare reform.
I'm not sure you should be able to count volunteer experience when running for the most important job on earth! Anyway she has BAD judgment.
Hmm maybe she should name all the States she lost! She can't even remember her applause lines and has to keep referring to deliver them; how do you expect her to remember all her empty promises? You endorsed the war once Hilary and I don't believe you will be able to end it or win the debate with McCain
Clinton will win the nomination because she will win most likely Pennsylvania, then when Florida and Michigan re-vote, she will win those also. All the superdelegates will switch to her. just watch..
So you're in the same mindset of "The Number 23" movie? Ohio! Ohio! Look at these skewed stats Ohio!
This nation has 50 States, not 1.
How can "their voices count" when you are under the influence of lobbyists?
Show your experience if you run on it (don't say you won't release it until after the election season)! We don't need a president that wants to hide everything in smoke filled rooms.
Let me sum it up: if Hillary gets the nomination, she would be wise to pick Obama to go on the ticket with her. The chances they win in the fall are great. If she doesn't pick him, expect less turnout and a possible loss. She needs him more than he would need her.
I agree, the best chance BOTH of them have to win is on the same ticket. Lets think about it, we need two strong, two-term Democratic presidents in a row who can both win the nomination. We need strong visionary leadership for the future and we need it for 16 years! A Clinton-Obama ticket is the perfect opportunity for American Democrats to take a hold of this country and for every citizen to work together to make our Nation great once again. Clinton is NOW, Obama is the FUTURE! GO DEMS 08!!
Yep, if anything they should do a doover in both states. You can't just seat the delegates as BOTH parties agreed not to campaign and that it wouldn't count. Let them do it over, both campaign/advertise there and both names on ballot, if she wins then, then all will at least be fair.
He has a mandate for children, which hardly seems controversial. Children are vulnerable population, meaning they have no choice concerning their quality of healthcare. Thus, it is important to safeguard their interests. In any case, pointing out that he has a mandate misses the point. The point is that she calls her plan universal, which is misleading. It's analogous to saying "I have a plan to end homelessness," simply because you have a plan that mandates everyone to reside in a house.
His pla called "healthcare for all" is a misnomer because not "all" will actually be covered, that's just silly. He leaves the parents of all those children free to be drowned in thier own medical debt rather than choose an affordable plan. That's the point is to make what you offer so affordable that it will be doable.
I favor everyon living in a house, now lets make that affordable to all!
Did she say a republican has a lifetime of experience but a fellow democrat doesn't?..Sounds like she is trying to sabotage the democratic party so that if she does not win a republican will..And after bush no republican deserves to be in office, Shame on you Hilary.
Look at 2:37. She didn't WIN Florida and Michigan. These states primaries were bumped up by state leaders, & broke DNC primary rules. Both states leaders knew the penalty of losing their votes and delegates BEFORE they did it, and she even signed/agreed to it. Now, since it's politically necessary for her delegate count, she claims victory in a state both her and Obama agreed not to even campaign in. Obama wasn't even on the ballet in Michigan. Insane!
I still haven't heard Senator Clinton say what she would do if someone could afford health care but chose not to purchase it? Would they be fined? I wish she'd just speak the truth more of the time. Note: If you delete my question/comment, it means you're running from the question.
You have the option of purchasing her plan or keeping the coverage you have now. It isn't that difficult. Obama's plan forces one to pay a penalty fee for not insuring children. He calls it universal when it doesn't even cover everyone. Obama is a moron.
3.How is Clinton's plan universal in the true sense of the word? All she does is offer a plan that is no better than Obama's plan, but by simply forcing everyone to purchase it she is somehow able to get away with calling it universal. It's a joke. It's like saying that you have a plan to end homelessness: just legally require everyone to buy a house, problem solved.
Mr. Obama says his plan covers every american, sounds universal but then he allows people to remain uncovered; hurting the advantages of a truly universal system.
Instead of letting them opt in later- when they're sick and at higher cost- why not give them a low level, low cost coverage from day one? It's smart.
No, it wasn't enough because the Clinton's believe in and care about the American people. They have seen all the success, peace and prosperity that we experienced during the 1990's, yes the Clinton years, go down the tube under Bush. The middle class gained $7,000 in income under Bill Clinton, and lost $1,000 under the Bush administration. Let Clinton deliver for us and get the things we deserve done NOW, let Obama INSPIRE, and GROW into our FUTURE president! CLINTON-OBAMA 2008!!!!
I don't really know anything for sure, but, I do believe that she is sincere in her desire to turn the country around and represent the US citizens from a place of equal opportunity for all, protection of the planet, giving a fair chance to succeed given to not just the wealthy, but, the average and poor.
Yes - she was young & in college!! She was raised in a Republican household - parents have a strong influence. She was interested in serving the public and once she was involved she realized that the Democratic party more closely represented her own beliefs.
Walk a mile in her shoes - she has experienced lots of attacks from all directions - she keeps going which is commendable you must admit. She'll be gracious no matter the outcome - as will Obama - he seems to be a gracious competitor
Its not about white, black, man, woman, its about The best person for the job and that person is Hillary. Not long now until the nomination is yours Hillary
Hillary has proven that she can be tough, knowledgeable, presidential and honest. THAT's what America needs. She has proven herself during all her public service and will prove herself worthy of our support as our next president... President Hillary Clinton!
YOU GO HILLARY!!!! We were all counting on you to win. You are truly the best. Congrats on your win, you deserved it! I've had people constantly tell me that Barack Obama has won already and I said to them, no, wait until the primaries on March 4th, she's going to win. So I'm ecstatic now that you have won!!! Obama IS all talk and no substance (dlabiana98 I totally agree with you). Mme President has a nice ring to it.. lolz. Lots of Love from your supporters here in Toronto
Simply incredible! I started out as a Clinton supporter by default (Edwards was my first choice), but I'm now a full, enthusiastic HRC supporter.
What a fighter!
Don't give up, Hillary! Make sure to remind the public that the super-d's will decide the nomination and your the strongest candidate--by far--for the GE. Go get 'em!
Wow when they started chanting 'Yes she will' I got shivers down my spine. I'm not American, but if I were then Hilary would get my vote hands down no doubt about it. Come on people wake up and see that Hilary is the one to deliver real change. Brack can talk the talk, but he's unproven and I believe he won't be able to walk the walk. Hilary has ideas and substance, Barack words and dreams, not that there's anything wrong with that, but by themselves they're useless. Hilary Clinton for the win!
I love Hilary, she seems like such a nice person, and also she is showing woman are as good as men, and that makes me happy :). No, I don't want her just because she's a woman, but she is strong and very intelligent.
Woooo!!!! I knew Hillary could do it. I stayed up last night as well and watched. I was so happy when we Hillary got Texas. Congratulations Hillary. Full steam ahead!!!
Well, Eta, she did win the last three :) ..and there will be new primaries in Florida and Michigan. There's just No Way that the Democratic Party will deny millions of people the chance vote in this historic race.
YES! YES! Democrats are finally waking up and seeing how Obama easily folds when under pressure. Thank you Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island. Finally, let's give Hillary a fighting chance and donate to her campaign, even if it is a dollar. YES SHE WILL!
You're an inspiration for us all, a strong, bold, intelligent woman with a heart in the right place. I love to listen your speeches and respect you a great deal just like the rest of the world. Too bad we can't vote because outside the States everyone loves the Clintons. I'm losing my hope of seeing you in the head of your country but I can't say I'm that surprised, look who's been chosen to lead for the past 8 years. Gone are the days when America truly was that shining city upon a hill.
Amen! Finally America woke up. Hillary Clinton for President! Thanks Hillary for making America a better place. I never gave to a campaign before, but I am so tired of the Bush years! Wake up America!!!! Keep this momentum going and thank you Hillary and Bill!

Okay. The only thing that Senator Clinton and Senator McCain have a lifetime of experience of is failure. Can somebody say War In Iraq?

EricalovesHSM 4 years ago
Exactly. There are many many people with more than enough experience for the job but very few with the wisdom, moral fortitude and sound judgement that makes them true presidential material. Hillary unfortunately has been caught up in this idea that Experience + Gender = Entitlement. Don't buy into it!

"As Ohio goes, so goes the nation."
Gondeath 4 years ago
Let me sum it up: if Hillary gets the nomination, she would be wise to pick Obama to go on the ticket with her. The chances they win in the fall are great. If she doesn't pick him, expect less turnout and a possible loss. She needs him more than he would need her.
pentium4foreverutube 4 years ago 3
I agree, the best chance BOTH of them have to win is on the same ticket. Lets think about it, we need two strong, two-term Democratic presidents in a row who can both win the nomination. We need strong visionary leadership for the future and we need it for 16 years! A Clinton-Obama ticket is the perfect opportunity for American Democrats to take a hold of this country and for every citizen to work together to make our Nation great once again. Clinton is NOW, Obama is the FUTURE! GO DEMS 08!!
BouldrBuff 4 years ago
Yep, if anything they should do a doover in both states. You can't just seat the delegates as BOTH parties agreed not to campaign and that it wouldn't count. Let them do it over, both campaign/advertise there and both names on ballot, if she wins then, then all will at least be fair.
pentium4foreverutube 4 years ago
He has a mandate for children, which hardly seems controversial. Children are vulnerable population, meaning they have no choice concerning their quality of healthcare. Thus, it is important to safeguard their interests. In any case, pointing out that he has a mandate misses the point. The point is that she calls her plan universal, which is misleading. It's analogous to saying "I have a plan to end homelessness," simply because you have a plan that mandates everyone to reside in a house.
hershoreline 4 years ago

Nice speech. Still a way to go yet, and Clinton may not be able to close Obama's delegate lead. I think she will make a decent veep.
gnorville 4 years ago
Look at 2:37. She didn't WIN Florida and Michigan. These states primaries were bumped up by state leaders, & broke DNC primary rules. Both states leaders knew the penalty of losing their votes and delegates BEFORE they did it, and she even signed/agreed to it. Now, since it's politically necessary for her delegate count, she claims victory in a state both her and Obama agreed not to even campaign in. Obama wasn't even on the ballet in Michigan. Insane!
Bolgernow 4 years ago 2
I still haven't heard Senator Clinton say what she would do if someone could afford health care but chose not to purchase it? Would they be fined? I wish she'd just speak the truth more of the time. Note: If you delete my question/comment, it means you're running from the question.
pentium4foreverutube 4 years ago
You have the option of purchasing her plan or keeping the coverage you have now. It isn't that difficult. Obama's plan forces one to pay a penalty fee for not insuring children. He calls it universal when it doesn't even cover everyone. Obama is a moron.
zackaryyy 4 years ago
1. Obama doesn't call his plan universal. That is simply wrong.
2. Why shouldn't children be forced to be covered by their caretakers? They're a vulnerable population, with no choice concerning their healthcare.
hershoreline 4 years ago
3.How is Clinton's plan universal in the true sense of the word? All she does is offer a plan that is no better than Obama's plan, but by simply forcing everyone to purchase it she is somehow able to get away with calling it universal. It's a joke. It's like saying that you have a plan to end homelessness: just legally require everyone to buy a house, problem solved.
hershoreline 4 years ago
